- The chances of collaboration with home students are minimum
Scholarship Received
Course Curriculum
- It was a mix of theoretical and practical. There were classroom sessions and lab sessions.
- There were no negative aspects regarding the quality of teaching they provide.
- It depends on the course. For me it was 1 to 2 and there were some days where I had 3 classes. For some courses there will be only a 2-day class. For me, I had a 4-day class
- There were 15 to 30 students, depending on the class
- More than half of the students in my classroom were Indians.
Admission Experience
- I only applied for 1 college, which was Teesside University and I got admitted. The initial status was a conditional offer, which then became unconditional when I passed TUELT which was an English language test conducted by the University itself
- No, I only applied for Teesside University and got admitted
- The location was cheap to live in, especially for an international student who comes to the UK for the very first time. I followed the instagram handle of different communities in the University and found out there are many programmes which are welcoming for an international student. The teaching excellence frameworkwas silver when I applied which is good and assures they provide quality teaching.
- The admission process was straightforward. I applied to the university and then received a conditional offer letter. The condition was to pass an english language test. You could either take an IELTS or there was an English language test provided by the University itself which was called TUELT (Teesside University English Language Test)
- The eligibility criteria were that you should have secured a 2:2 for a numerical bachelor's degree.
- The overall experience was tension-free.
- I applied for the September 2021 intake. That is the major intake and that was the reason for me to choose that one.
- The admission took about 2 months. The overall time depends on when you receive CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies). Then, you will apply for your visa, which typically takes about 15 working days. I heard there were some delays for the students to get CAS which further delayed their visa process.
Faculty
- There are enough faculties in the university. You will get a personal tutor who you can approach for any issues.
- The teaching methodology is good. It is a mix of theory and practical and they are well experienced.
- They help us maximum to find a job. There are student communities which can further help in finding a job. There were job expos as well.
- There was a tutor called Annalisa Occhipinti. She taught me big data analysis and Power BI. The way she took the class was amazing.
Campus Life
- 2 campuses. One in Darlington and another one in Middlesbrough
- There were 24/7 gym facilities, 24/7 library, a cafeteria, seating spaces in the middle of the campus, etc.
- There is indian society which conducts many programs. Also the freshers' day and end of college day, which are conducted by the university, are marvellous.
- I didn't see any sports event which took place on the campus. But there are a lot of festival programmes.
Part Time Jobs
- There are campus ambassador opportunities within the campus. Or there are many retail shops and restaurants where you can secure a part-time job
- The minimum pay is now £12.21 per hour
- There is a bar at the campus and they advertise part-time position there
- The maximum hours of work allowed is 20 hrs. Please not this is a visa restriction and you have to adhere to this or it may affect your further stay in this country
- To secure an on-campus job was difficult.
- The minimum pay is now £12.21 per hour and most part-time jobs provide that. Considering the current situation, it is heard that it's a bit difficult to secure one. You have to try hard to find one. There is indeed, which is one of the common platforms where you can see part-time jobs. Or you could ask directly in retail shops and restaurants with your updated CV.
Placement
- There are a lot of jobs available in the market now. But the competition is now tough. You can get a full time job. But to secure one which closely align with your interest takes time
- The average salary is £34000 and it depends on the company. Some companies are willing to provide more
- The most useful platform is LinkedIn. You can also search jobs on the company website
- Most of my batchmates are placed now
- Amazon is one of the top companies that hire graduates.
Accommodation
- I found the accommodation through my friend. You can find some from online markets as well
- The monthly rent at that time was only £100 only and it is not the case now. It was excluding bills
- I didn't face any challenge because my friend had secured an accommodation through his friend. Therefore it was stress-free.
- Please look for accommodations as soon as possible. The number of students has increased and it is now difficult to find one with reasonable price
- My accommodation was just 5 mins walking distance from the Uni
Exams
- You could either take IELTS or other approved tests. At that time (I am not sure about this year), there was an english language test conducted by the university itself which is called the Teesside University English Language Test (TUELT). The unconditional offer letter depends upon the successful completion of this test.
- A statement of Purpose is needed. Then your previous mark sheets. A letter of recommendation was not needed for me considering that time we had COVID and it was waived. There was no need for a CV as well.
- There was an interview from one of the representatives from the university. The questions were based on the motives behind selecting the university
Fees
- £15000 and there was a £2000 scholarship discount and hence the overall fee was £13000 Yearly (You have the option to pay as an instalment)
- Considering the city is cheap, the estimated monthly expense, including rent, would be £350. It could go up or down based on the rent. If you wish to look for a shared house, the rent is comparatively cheap.
Scholarship
- Yes. There was a £2000 scholarship and the eligibility criteria was at least a 55% mark in your previous qualification. I am not sure what the scholarship they provide now is.
- It was £2000
- All my batchmates received scholarships, and I am not aware of anyone who received other forms of financial aid. You always had an option to pay the fee as an instalment, which is great
- The award amount at that time was £2000 and almost all students got eligible.
