Course Curriculum
- The course was quite easy, and it included the theory as well as the practical lab. There were no theory exams conducted; just an assignment was given that we were supposed to complete by the end of the semester. Usually, there were 3 modules each semester. One theory class per week for every module and one practical lab every week for each module. there were around 50% Indian students.
Admission Experience
- I have applied only for Teesside University since I received feedback that it's the only university that will respond to me fast, as I was a bit late when applying for other universities. But still, I faced the issue that my CAS was delayed a bit, and I had to ask a lot of times and do a lot of follow-ups over email. No other university was applied to from my side.
- The course structure was excellent and was according to the latest trends. The modules were exactly what I wanted to study during my course. The modules that I have studied were Mobile Application Development and Operating System Concepts. Data visualisation using Power BI, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence languages like Java and Python which were meeting my requirements.
- I have applied for the September intake of 2023. The admission process lasted for around 2 months. Initially, the bank statement was provided with a balance of 27 lac. Then I received a conditional offer letter and then the final unconditional offer letter. I had received the final letter after almost 1.5 months of application. I am not sure what took it so long.
Faculty
- I feel that the curriculum was okay, but it was much below the industry standards. The lab's student-teacher ratio was 1:20. No teacher assisted in finding full-time or part-time jobs. The best faculty, i believe, was the one who taught us Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. He even helped me finding the topic for assignments and guiding wherever needed
Campus Life
- The college has recently opened a 3rd campus in London. Library 24/7 is available. Sport and Gym facilities are available, but those are paid facilities. There is a major freshers' week at the University that has different events. There is a breakfast club.
- The Indian society club is available as well. Various student communities are available as well. There is a student organization at the University
Part Time Jobs
- The positions available are mostly grabbed by students from Nigeria. Less preference is given to Indian Students. The pay range is about 10-12 GBP per hour. There are jobs like Student Coordinator, library assistant available at the University. As at, the maximum allowed hours are 20 per week. It is very difficult to secure campus jobs, specially for Indian Students
- Most of Students prefer working at restaurants, Pubs, off-licence shops because of the good pay there. The usual process is to just walk in and submit the CV and then you may get a call back or probably referencing could also be helpful. It is very difficult to get a proper job here. The typical earnings may vary from 5 GBP to 11 GBP per hour. Some cash in hand jobs you're allowed to work for more than 20 hours too
Placement
- As of now, none of my classmates have secured any field jobs here. Most are struggling to get the interviews; those who get the interview are rejected because of the Visa.
- The average salary range for my course is around 30000 GBP to 120k GBP annually. That may vary based on the position and years of experience. Companies like Deloitte, IBM, Accenture, HSBC etc.
Accommodation
- I already had my friends here at Teesside University, so finding the accommodation wasn't that difficult for me. I stayed in a shared, rented 4 BHK apartment. There are student accommodations available that are provided by the university as well. But they are very costly. The accommodation I stayed in was a 10-minute walk from the University. The rent was bit cheaper for me as it was a shared apartment
Exams
- An IELTS exam was required with an overall band of above 6. The required documents include - Statement of Purpose (SOP), Letter of recommendation (LOR) from the School and College, the latest updated CV, and a bank statement with a balance of 27 lac kept for around a month in the bank.
- Yes, there was a Zoom-scheduled interview as well. That was a general interview to check the English speaking ability
Fees
- it was 15000 GBP and there was the option of instalments, like an initial 5,000 deposit and then 3,333 + 3,333 + 3,334 every month. The fees were charged annually; however, we were asked to pay it in the span of 4 months only.
- Monthly expenses included rent bills (100 GBP), groceries (100 GBP) and any other expense of around 100 GBP, making total of 500-600 GBP
Scholarship
- There were a few scholarships available, like the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship of 7000 GBP, the Global Excellence Scholarship of 2000 GBP for first-year students Alumni Scholarship of 1000 GBP for international students who completed bachelor's degrees at the same University. I was very late when applying for the scholarships, so I wasn't eligible for any. Few of my batchmates, however, did receive the scholarships.
