What Students Say
Likes
- I really like the curriculum here for as everything is project oriented and that staff is highly qualified and you can have opportunity to work on real time projects in research lab. However, there's nothing which I disliked about my campus.
Course Curriculum
- In MSc AI, the course is quite updated as it includes ML, Computer vision, deep learning, AI, Research methods, all align to our field except NLP (as it was just upto intro level).
- As research experience, we have dissertation where we are allowed to get exposure with phd students to get project understanding.
- Typically, We had 2-3 days classes per week and avg students in my class were 30.
Admission Experience
- Well, UWL was the first university where I applied, the process was too quick from internview to CAS letter. I applied here because of their AI program which was really well structred. Also I got 5000 pounds scholarship + 10% additional on my course fee which was exceptional.
- The staff here is professional but assertive, you are open discuss your issues and views and the accept you whole heartedly, thats a pluse point here if i compare it to other universities in London.
Faculty
- The faculty to student ratio with around 30 students per class. Professors are highly knowledgeable and approachable.
- Dr. Nasim Dadashi has been impactful with her expertise in deep Iearning and mentoring throughout the course.
Campus Life
- The campus life is amazing as we had so many events, there are so many clubs and cultural societies whic organise events to entertain students so that they dont feel left out.
Part Time Jobs
- So minimum basic pay rate is 12.21 and students are allowed to do 20 hours per week. Students can apply through indeed, total jobs and offical websites of companies but the best is to apply walkin to avoid frauds. Also, if u have good connections its easy to get a part time job. Additionally, 1 out of 10 got job as RA as fresher , for TA you need to have 2 to 3 year experience.
Placement
- Students can expect an average starting salary in the range of 30,000 to 45,000 GBP per year and best way is through recuritment agencies and linkedin networking.
- Im in the last sem, so till now no one got any placement yet in my class. However, in Univeristy we had opportunities to work on projects in Labs to gain hands on experience.
Accommodation
- Student accomodation was a bit expensive for me as it was around 1200 GBP per month but the facilities and exposure is great there. However, I was living in rental accomodation costs me 450 GBP as rent bills included and I found that on facebook marketplace.
Exams
- English language requirement of 6.5 overall score for IELTS, with a minimum of 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening).
- Rest of the document were SOP, 2 LOR, CV(optional)
