Course Curriculum
10
- I would describe the difficulty level of your course curriculum as very easy and there aren't any exams for my course.
- The most positive aspects of my course is that its much easier and negative is it would have been more competitive
- I have two classes typically scheduled in a day, and the usual timings are mostly in the mornings
- The average number of students in my class was 20
- I was the only Indian students who was enrolled in my course
Admission Experience
- I applied to two universities; one is Ulster University and the next one is Edinburgh Napier university. I got selected at both universities but preferred to take Ulster University because of its reputation and recognition around the United Kingdom. In the United Kingdom, there are many universities that provide my courses, but there isn’t much recognition provided towards the programs, and the course modules weren’t much updated to the current curriculum. Whereas at Ulster university , everything was perfectly updated and had an enormous amount of information about the course.
- I chose Ulster University because of its overall ranking in the United Kingdom and as one of the top universities in Northern Ireland. The overall admission experience was very good and there weren’t any issues with the process. There were proper guidelines provided and the staff ensured a smooth onboarding process. In Ulster university, there were many departments involved in the onboarding process
- There are two intakes (September & January). The September intake application mostly starts in the month of April and the January intake application starts in August. This information is clearly stated on the University websites. The factors that influenced my decision were the ranking, recognition and overall international student success rate at the university.
Faculty
8
- In my university, the faculty-to-student ratio is approximately 1:26, particularly within faculties like Computing, Engineering, and the Built Environment. The teaching method is mostly online and course content will be shared before the class begins with everyone in the class. This will be helpful to take notes and reduce the time. The faculty member assists students in finding part-time or full-time jobs through their personal networks or references.
Campus Life
8
- Ulster University has four main campuses located across Northern Ireland. All campuses provide a wide range of facilities to support students' academic and personal well-being. Libraries are modern and well-equipped, with 24/7 access, digital resources, and study spaces.
- There are many campus festivals, clubs, or any popular events that take place at my college. There are also many extracurricular activities, such as sports, cultural events, student organizations, that will be taken places in and around university
Part Time Jobs
- At Ulster University, there are many ways to earn some extra cash, both on and off campus. The students typically secure Teaching Assistant (TA), Research Assistant (RA), or Departmental Assistant (DA) positions. The pay range for TA/RA/DA positions is around 13 pounds per hour. The usual hourly wages for other positions are around 12 pounds. The maximum hours allowed to work are 20 hours.
- Most Indian students studying at Ulster University and in Northern Ireland generally prefer part-time jobs and students typically earn on an hourly basis in their part-time jobs around 12 pounds per hour. It is easy for students to secure part-time employment while studying. The process is simple: just apply on the company website or job portal for searching for job openings, submitting applications or resumes, and attending interviews.
Placement
6
- At Ulster University, approximately 45% of graduates secure employment within six months of completing their courses. The average salary range that most students in your program can expect to earn upon graduation will be around 25 to 35 lakhs per annum. The common methods to find jobs are campus recruitment, internships, networking, or online job portals.
Accommodation
Off Campus
8
- When I was looking for accommodation at Ulster University, I found there were several good options. Many students, including myself, start with university-managed housing like 123 York Street or LIV Student. The monthly rent was around 800 per month and it included electricity, gas, and other expenses.
- Most of the accommodations require a Guarantor to provide a guarantee for the students. I would suggest students look for private accommodations rather than taking student accommodations.
Exams
- For each student, the scenario varies. Many students with 12 English marks can show their english requirements instead of IELTS. The admission process includes Statement of Purpose, LOM, LOR, CV, Marksheets, Work Experience certificates & any gap in the career or education. These documents will be verified by the UKVI and the university to provide a final offer letter to the students.
Fees
- The fees were around 15 Lakhs in Indian Rupees for my course. It includes only the tuition fees. There are many options to pay the college fees; it's like 3 installments with paying 30% as a deposit and paying the rest in installments.
- During my studies, I was staying in one of the student accommodations, which cost me around 8 Lakhs in Indian Rupees. Most of the student accommodations are comparatively high when compared to private accommodations.
Scholarship
- Yes, I received a scholarship during my course, but it was my own department's scholarship, which was given to every student who was enrolled in the course. However, there are many scholarships available in the UK for international students, like the International Postgraduate Scholarship. The typical award amount ranges from £2,000 in tuition fees. There isn't any data on how many students on average received scholarships each year.
