- Well Qualified Staffs
- Located in heart of London City (Zone 1)
- University will provide very good academic support
Dislikes
- We cant get the Big UK university experience in this campus as it is a very small campus. If you are only focused in studies and not considering the University environment then it is not a big deal.
- As it is located in central London (Zone 1) transportation is little expensive. but you will be having only 2 days of offline class.
- In this campus there is no physical Library, but you will be having access to the online library which is huge. You can get any articles or books form online library 24/7.
Course Curriculum
- It is level 7 course so it is bit difficult and when we switch from the Indian education system to the UK education system it will be little hard in the beginning but going forward it will be easy when we understand how it works. My course is actually a mix of both out of 6 modules. 4 modules were practical and 2 module were theory, although it is theory we have to explore the topics related to that using the articles published.
- I had 2 days of offline classes in the week. One day is a fully scheduled class from morning 9.30 to evening 6.30.
- Average number of students is 20 per classroom.
- Out of 20, 10 students are from India
Admission Experience
- Applied in three universities and shortlisted in all three and received conditional offer letter from all three universities. (Northumbria, Kingston University, Portsmouth University). I then chose Northumbria university after doing some research online about the university and the course.
- I haven't got any rejections from any university which I applied for.
- I chose Northumbria University because here the Cybersecurity course is accredited by NCSC body and also I got a good scholarship discount.
- The admission process is simple, they asked me to submit SOP and some other documents for the verification.
- In this university there is no requirement of SAT, GMAT or IELTS, for english they just looked on the school English examination percentage, but they have conducted interview before proceeding withe CAS process
- My admission process was very smooth.
- I applied for Jan 2024 Intake and it was quick decision so I didn't had chance to apply for any other intake. The admission process was smooth and it took approximately 55 days from the application submitted date and the CAS received date. It took time in between because of their tight schedule in conducting the meeting. Each process took at least 1 week gap.
Faculty
- For all the 20 students, single staff for the sem modules is more than okay, and there teaching method is totally practical.
- For the dissertation. for 5 students 1 faculty will be allocated and he will be guiding us through the dissertation project.
Yes, One or two faculties will be helping students if the student has required skills in their course field
Campus Life
- There is no big events or fests in this London Campus, as I told before it is really a small campus. Main campus is in New castle.
- As I answered before there is no big facilities, you will have a pantry where you can get Tea or coffee as much as you want and the study area apart from that nothing much.
- Sorry, No campus festivals. No extra curricular activities. Those are there just for name sake.
Part Time Jobs
- As the campus is small there is no much on campus jobs available,. but they have a notice board where they will be advertising the jobs available in London, if anyone wants those jobs they can apply there and try. Students can work a maximum of 20 hrs per week and the minimum wage is £11.44 per hour which is enough to survive in UK.
- On campus job is bit difficult to secure as there is more competency.
- Students are earning a minimum £11.44 to £13 per hour and if they are getting 19 or 20 hrs per week they can earn monthly around £950 after tax. Finding a part job now is a bit of a difficult journey and they have to apply continuously for all kind of jobs and may be we will get responses from 2 or 3 employers. To find part time jobs we can go to shops or restaurants directly and ask if there is any vacancies, we can also apply online. We have plenty of Job searching platforms and all kind of jobs will be listed over their and we can apply.
Placement
- More than 60% of students can find employment after graduation within 6 months.
- Average salary for the MSc cybersecurity graduate if they have experience is around £35000 to £40000.
- Students usually applies job in the job portals and they will be contacting employment agencies for the job opportunities. There is no campus placements available. I just graduated so no one secured Job yet
Accommodation
- I found the accommodation through the whatsapp group, it is a sharing based accommodation. when I landed in London it was around 330 per month excluding the bill in double sharing room, it is a very small room actually.
- Finding a good accommodation with the right people is actually a big challenge and it still continues.
- If you can pay more monthly for the accommodation then better go with student accommodations. If your budget is low then look for sharing accommodation and you have no other choice. You will have to adjust a lot.
- I was living in zone 3 and university was in zone 1.
Exams
- No Exams required for the admission. Necessary documents are SOP, LOR, CV, application form, Loan Sanction letter, Deposit receipt and school and bachelor certificates.
- Yes, the interview is part of the application process. QA conducted the Pre-CAS interview. In the interview they evaluated my English language communication, my motive for choosing the UK, choosing Cybersecurity, and choosing London as a study destination.
- Also, they asked for the module information for the course I applied.
Fees
- My tuition fee was £19200, they asked me to pay a deposit of £5000 and then balance the amount after my course started.
- Transportation cost will be totally based on which zone you are living and weekly only 2 days will need to attend the class. So considering transportation it will be around £50 per month.
- Rent also totally depends, whether it is single sharing, Double sharing or three sharing but in average it will be around £350 to £400 per month if you need a decent place to live.
Scholarship
- When they provided the CAS itself they provided a scholarship of £3900 and when they requested us to pay the balance fee after the course starts, they offered a discount of £400, if we pay the total amount in one go.
- As far as I know. most of the students received some sort of scholarship from the university itself.
- Typical award amount will be around £2500 to £4000
