Course Curriculum

4

  • The difficulty level was not much high for those who attended classes regularly and were consistent with notes. Most of the students managed to score merit.
  • Positive aspect was that it had diverse topics. Negative that it was not well assembled or planned.
  • We were allowed to do 20hr part time per week during coursework but no assistance was given on how to find one.

Admission Experience

  • I applied to 4 universities: Imperial, NUS, NTU and North Western. Got selected in 2 of them, waitlisted in one and rejected from one. Got confirmation from Imperial College London, Got rejected from Northwestern because I applied late. I should have applied earlier for a better response. Plus I should have applied to more colleges in USA.
  • I chose Imperial College because Imperial had 3 plus QS ranking and I got the course of my choice over here.
  • Requirements: Application, 8 + CGPA and Interview. For my course: 8+CGPA, English exam and undergrad degree completion certificate. It's very easy and convenient. Only challenge that they required was a degree certi before giving admit, in my case my degree got competed in July and got degree in August and course was supposed to start in Sept.
  • I applied for the 2022 intake just a month after I completed my undergrad. I did not want to put any gap between my undergrad and master's. Wanted to complete studies in one go and then get into a job. Application process was quite fast, I applied in March and got the result in April. But the process ahead was little slow as I had to wait for a long to get completion certificate of a previous degree.

Faculty

3

  • 80 students in total. 20 Indians: All girls no Indian boys. Rest were Europeans and Americans.
  • Its really bad, no direct faculty student interaction. It was really tough in this matter. Teachers did not pay much of attention on which student is concentrating in class.
  • Teaching experience was okayish. They taught through PPt. Some classes were just reading the ppts. So little time waste.

Campus Life

5

  • It had 2 campuses: one for science and maths courses other for business school.
  • There is a huge library, and there is a medical room. The gym and sports club in 5 minute's walk from the college.
  • Other events: Halloween, Diwali fest, Christmas. Different clubs provided access to different cultural events. There were student organisations which helped with different services.

Part Time Jobs

  • There was no option to work as TA, RA or DA for MSc students. They don't have it for us. It was only for Phd students or students doing MREs.
  • We could work on campus at cafe or in books shop, union shop, or any pub inside college. We were allowed to work 20 hrs per week.
  • Yes, it was difficult to secure on campus jobs as there were limited seats and options.
  • Minimum pay rate is 11 pounds per hour in part time jobs.
  • Its’ really tough to secure good part time job. We can easily get ones at grocery shops or cafe but those are difficult to manage with college study. We can either drop in our CV on their online portal or we can drop CV in person which is more useful. Its better to apply early to get one. We can also opt for teaching jobs which are more respectful.

Placement

2

  • Only 5-10% could secure full time job after 6 months. It ranged from 25k to 40k pounds per year.
  • You can find part time jobs by applying jobs directly on company website or sending cold mails. Some also used referals.
  • It’s really difficult to find relevant job after doing this course specially Indians due to visa issues.
  • All companies come on career fair. Its based on how you approach them.

Accommodation

Off Campus
5

  • I found my accommodation through Knight Frank agent. The rent was high: 1200 pounds per person for one month. Other than this cleaning was 3.30 pounds separate for each month for one visit.
  • The people who rented us an apartment were really rude. They did not solve any of the problems in the house and charged unnecessarily. Do explore options closer to college. My accommodation was 45 mins away from my college, most of them stayed near college.

Exams

  • Any English language test works: I gave a Duolingo test, they also accept TOEFL or IELTS. GRE was not required for my course.
  • Documents Required: Statement of purpose, LOR, CV, Previous degree, scorecard which has CGPA above. The LOR should have relevant information. SOP should have proper relevant story line. CV is general.
  • Interview is not mandatory for my course but for other courses they took interview.

Fees

  • 32 lakhs for course work. Paid in 2 parts.
  • I stayed in seperate private accommodation with 2 other people i.e 3 bed 2 bath
  • 1200 pounds for accommodation, 100 for transport, 100 for food and other expenses. Then it varies according to the lifestyle you are living. I used to go to the gym which costs me another 40 pounds per month. If people party a lot then it charges 100 more pounds.

Scholarship

  • Nope, I did not receive any scholarship.
  • Yes 2 of them from my class received scholarships from a batch of 80 students.
  • Only 5-10 students receive scholarships on a yearly base and it's a very specific scholarship.
  • Only limited students get it and on very strict conditions. It's super hard to get one. And we have to apply for it early when the college applications starts.
