Umeå University's departments and units are organized under four faculties; arts and humanities, medicine, social sciences, and science and technology. It provides 150 study programs and 1,800 courses. More than 40 programs and 450 courses are offered with instruction language entirely in English. International students are eligible to apply for both undergraduate and graduate programs in Accounting, Computer Science, Designing, Healthcare, Mathematics, Nursing, and others through the main four faculties of Arts, Medicine, Science and Technology, and Social Sciences.
At present, the total number of students is 34,237 and amongst them are international learners coming from 60 different countries around the world to study in Sweden. Additionally, there are 2,113 teachers and researchers employed by the university. The institute has 399 partner universities in 50 countries. Hence, one can get quality education in different parts of the world.
- Sweden university accepts admission applications for Autumn & Summer sessions. However, the majority of bachelor's and master's programs in Sweden begin in the autumn semester.
- The autumn term normally begins in the beginning of September and ends in the middle of January. The spring term begins in the middle of January and ends early in June.

Visa Application Process for International Students
All students coming out of EU or EEU need to apply for the visa to study in Sweden in order to study for more than 3 months. Students are requested to begin their visa process a month before the commencement of the classes. Students need to follow the below instructions in order to get a residence permit in Sweden:

- Students can also apply to their nearest Swedish embassy or consulate.
- Students should create their user account
- Payment of the application fee
- Next, the required documents should be uploaded-

Ques. Where can students see their application status?
Ans. The results of admission selections are posted on the website of Universityadmissions.se, both in the ‘Applications' tab and in the pdf document. The Notification of Selection Results will be seen on students account.
Ques. Can final year UG students apply for a master’s program?
Ans. Yes, Students can apply to a Master's program during the final year of their undergraduate degree program. The application may be considered only if they provide documentation as listed on Universityadmissions.se webpage. If they can't provide their complete degree and transcript by the start of the program, they will not be able to begin the term.
Ques. Is scholarship available for international students?
Ans. Each year Umeå University offers scholarships to academically talented students in the form of full or partial tuition waivers. After the opening of the scholarships, eligible candidates are sent e-mail with application instructions. International students in Public Health are eligible for Erling-Person Scholarships that grant a full-tuition waiver along with an allowance up to 3000 SEK.
Ques. Is housing available for international students at Umea?
Ans. International students are offered off-campus housing by the International Housing Office for a maximum time of two academic terms. A single-occupancy student room is available in student corridors. The accommodation is within the walking distance of the campus.
Ques. How and when will I be notified if I've been offered a place?
Ans. Those who have applied on-time are considered first and receive an admissions notification. Those who don't wish to accept their place decline it here on Universityadmissions.se.
After this, universities consider applicants on the waiting list (reserve), and then late applicants.
If you've submitted a late application and are then offered a place, you'll receive an email from University Admissions and an admissions notification. In most cases, the university will also notify you directly.
Ques. What are the selection criteria for admission?
Ans. Places are offered based on eligible applicants' merit rating (also known as grade tariff). For each applicant, a merit rating (also known as grade tariff) is calculated by University Admissions. Based on this merit rating, students are placed in ranked order, from the highest merit rating to the lowest. The higher the merit rating you have, the better chance you have of being offered a place in the course or programs you have applied to
