Eligibility Criteria

Candidates before considering to apply for internship at UNDP must review the minimum eligibility criteria which given below:

  • Be enrolled in bachelor’s master’s or PhD level degree.
  • Bachelor’s students must be enrolled in the senior year of their study.
  • The recent graduates must start their internship within 1 year of graduation.
  • The candidates must demonstrate his interest to work for the development mission of the United Nations Development Programme.
  • Must be able to communicate with people belonging to different cultural backgrounds.
  • Is available to relocate and must not hesitate to take challenges.
  • Must be highly adaptable and able to tackle difficult situations.
  • Must demonstrate fluency in English, Spanish or French language. Those with high command in languages like Arabic, Eastern European, Portuguese or Russian can be considered for the UNDP internship.
  • A score of 80 in TOEFL IBT is required for an internship which requires proficiency in English language.

Selection Process

Students upon meeting the eligibility criteria will be shortlisted for an interview or written assessment. Both the interview and assessment will be conducted by hiring managers of the United Nations Development Programme. The interview may either be taken over the telephone or via video conferencing. During the interview process, the hiring managers not only evaluate an applicant’s eligibility but also how much they know about th United Nations, their activities and topics.

After the interview, the candidates are then evaluated based on their overall performance including their qualification and the interview process. A written test may conducted after or before the interview process, on the basis of which a final decision is made.
