Course Curriculum Overview
The understanding of body mechanics and the knowledge and ability to heal the patients through manual approach in this world of AI influenced my decision to choose this course. Curriculum projects the real world case scenarios and conditions while also preparing one on how to deal with them. It creates a stepping stone to further enhance in depth knowledge. While theoretically we know pretty much well, practically we might lag behind. Physiotherapy has advanced in terms of technology and scientific approaches. Lack of regular clinical visits and patient centric approach can be solved. We have got 2 semester end exams per year consisting of 100 marks with duration of 3 hours each. Difficult y level is average and even the basic idea of the topic can make you pass. Of course the more you study the more you score.
Internships Opportunities
We have MOU signed with more than 50 clinic and hospitals in rajkot. 6 month Internship post 4 years of college can be done in any of them. However recruitment for jobs is based on skillset and knowledge. Hospitals like HCG, Civil hospital, Gokul and Giriraj are the most prominent ones. We are not provided with stipend yet but based on the new rules for physiotherapy further batches will get it. However i am not sure about how much. Jobs are provided based on individual performance during internships and overall performance in colleges and conferences and camps attended and done respectively. Also certificates during the study period play a role here.
Fees and Financial Aid
I pay total of 65000 rs of fees per year which consists of 32500 rs tuition fees and 2500 rs of exam fees. This is same for all students irrespective of admuission based on government quota or management quota. However a sum of rs 10,000 is asked to be paid initially if admission is done through management quota. There are scholarship aids for SC, ST and OBC caste where Tuition fees, Maintenance allowance, Exam fees and Equipment’s & Books are granted as prescribed by the Govt within income limits of rs. 250000 per year. Also food bill of rs 15000 is also granted. Other than that scholarships granting similar benefits for:- Minorities within income limit of rs 200000/yr. Disabled more than 40% within annual income limit of rs. 250000. CM scholarship scheme within annual limit of rs. 450000, MYSY within annual limit of rs. 600000. Pragati Saksham scheme within annual limit of rs. 800000 recieving rs. 30000 and additional rs. 20000 in case of hostel stay. GUEEDC within annual limit of rs 600000 recieves rs. 15000 for food bill if staying in hostel. Other than all these options education loans are available and students can earn on campus by acquiring jobs on campus.
Campus Life
We do have cultural and sports galore annually in and around February. Also physiofest are organised where platform presentation, poster presentation, ideathons and various quizzes are there. We do have all the relevant books according to our curriculum and also wide range of books for specific in depth study of particular subjects. We have got smart rooms with projectors and speakers, air conditioners and fans. Ample amount of benches for sitting arrangement. All sports clubs like basketball, volleyball, cricket, badminton, etc are present. Other than that music, dance, art and literature clubs also are flourishing. Student run clubs like tech clubs, research clubs, community health clubs are present. Students gain an all round development and become ready even on industry level.
Admission
I got confirmed admission from Charotar university of science and technology in akash and rita school of physiotherapy. Well there were other private colleges as well like lj university of ahemdabad and sumandeep university of vadodara. I chose this college based on convenience in location and affordable fee structure. Also the reputed higher education at this college and recognition on global level enforced my choice. I didn't get rejected from any. However the high fee structure and other external costings like hostel and mess fee as well as general maintenance cost was much more for other colleges compared to this one. Ideally admissions are done through management quota and through acpc. More than 50% aggregate marks in 12th science is the only eligibility criteria for admission. Neet UG marks are considered for admission but is not mandatory for the same. My experience was pretty smooth and i was selected through acpc quota in the first round itself.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is 1:11. Faculties are very helpful and approachable. They give us genuine guidance and engages with us on personal level. Attends our queries and supports our growth on both educational and personal level. I really appreciate guidance of Dr. Krupa Tank, our professor for women's health and Dr. Parth Devmurari, professor of Cardiopulmonary Science and Dr Shrikant of neurological science. The support and guidance they provide is really good and the in depth knowledge of their subjects is quite commendable. I think Dr. Kajal Pokar can use some improvement in her teachings skills. Dr. Harsh while being a really active and lively professor needs to develop discipline and engagement in teaching as well. We have got cie 1 and cie 2 in each semester where cie 1 is graded purely on assignments and cie 2 consists of written and practical exams of 20 marks. At the end of each semester there is semester end exams of 100 marks also consisted of written and practical exams. Exams are rather easy and just following the curriculum would ensure passing. Very less student do fail and has to approach for supplementary exams. Course curriculum is pretty relevant to the current needs of physiotherapy. However practical approach and regular clinic visits must be included on the mandatory basis.
Night Life
Cafeterias has varied food options in quite affordable range. Libraries are open for students after college hours and has good novel collection as well. Various clubs invite thier members to practice and for fun activities after college hours. Campus timings are from 8am to 2pm for physiotherapy. Hostels are well equipped. Hangout spots are scanty outside college as it is quite away from city area. However inside the campus there are sitting areas provided and is considered safe enough at night. However hostel has specific timings beyond which students aren't allowed to roam around. But that is more to maintain discipline than safety.
