What Students Say
Likes
- The best thing about this college is the presence of entities (faculties, staff, student) of different ethnicities. This provides a lot of exposure regarding maintainance of relationships at different levels and also helps learning different cultures
- Co-operative faculties of different department and helpful seniors.
- Hosting of different events involving co-curricular activities and sports.
Dislikes
- The overall architecture of the college could be much better considering the overall respect to and for the college.
- Facilities regarding learning of different techniques and ways in BDS stream could be improved by providing better equipments and machines.
- This college (compared to other colleges) is in a rather remote location. Resource acquisition is adequate but not ample.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum involves 4 exams. Internal and external exams. (Theory+practical) 3 internal exams 1 external exam Teaching methods vary from faculty to faculty as some have a PPT/word style teaching method, some teach orally and some have a whiteboard-marker type of method. All classes/lectures/practicals are interactive and provide with maximum scope of understanding. Practicals are the best as we get to do live patients. Only 3rd year and above can do patients while our juniors practice on dummies, typhodonts and extracted tooth. Doing and attending to patients provides so much understand about real-life scenarios and conditions.
Internships Opportunities
Internship is provided within the 5-year course plan. Not sure about the stipend. After graduation, you can open your own clinic or can appear for the post-graduate exam NEET-PG. According to the scores of that exam, departments pertaining to PG can be assigned to you on a stipulated fee.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee of my college in BDS stream is approximately 3,75,000-4,00,000 This includes tuition and other administrative fees of 2,75,000-3,00,000 and hostel and mess fees of 80,000-1,00,000. Maintainance of attendance of all classes is mandatory and is expected to be 75% and above. Failure to maintain proper attendance can lead to an imposition of fine of upto 50,000. Fees of complete course is 16,00,000-18,00,000. As of now, it is stagnant and not increasing. This fees is for me (GEN category), for people of category, the fee amount for the total course can vary from 1,00,000 to 4,00,000. The college is co-operative enough to consider financial backgrounds of different students and can reduce the fee if deemed necessary by the administrative department. I am not aware if there is a grant of scholarships or not. *all fee amount is in INR (Indian Rupees)
Campus Life
Campus life in this college is the BEST. Presence of other streams (MBBS, BPT, Nursing) along with BDS provides with an immersive crash course on different people, management of relations, friendship, interaction with seniors and juniors, different cultures and what not.. Plus, this college is situated in a rather hilly area and is almost surrounded by hills by 3 sides!! Monsoon in this campus is heavenly, with lush green mountains, foggy areas, cloudy hills and soft cold breezes. Cricket ground seems like the best place to be during monsoons. Convert it into a picnic spot....who cares? Resources in the library is adequate, extra curricular activities ample, facilities adequate, etc. Cultural event called 'Spandan' is held annually here.
Hostel Facilities
Facilities in the hostel are adequate. Sometimes, we face water shortages or electricity cuts. Rest is good. Room is double sharing and has a bed, a chair, a table, a well sized almirah, a mattress and a pillow for each of the hostelite and also has an attached lat-bath. You can have a single room too, but you have to pay double of the hostel fee. Meals in mess aren't that good. We all know the quality of food in mess. Nothing can be compared with home cooked meal. Meal schedule is rotating and periodic and contains special delicacies on Wednesday, sunday or any special events.
Admission
I entered PDCRC, Udaipur through NEET-UG Counselling process in 2021. I had many other colleges in my preference list but this college was my 2nd preference after Govt dental college (RUHS) in Jaipur. I got to know about the merits and demerits of this college through our family dentist of 15 years. They knew some of the faculties in this college and knew that this college would be better than other colleges in my list. And they were correct. Special thanks to Dr. Alok Sharma and Dr. Swati Sharma of Jaipur. There are 2 processes for admission in my college: *Direct payment seat *Through UG Counselling Both the ways involve proper verification of the scores of the applicant in his/her NEET-UG. Only applicants with exceeding eligibility scores are allowed. A form is filled for application.
Faculty
Both quality and quantity of the faculties in this college is fantastic. It is usually considered that higher the hierarchy of the faculty, more non-approachable he/she is. But its not valid here. HODs of the department are the absoloue best. A normal conversation (non-academic) can help you understand the level of faculty. All faculties are well-qualified and well-behaved and the student:faculty ratio is adequate. A department (as noticed) has a minimum of 6-7 faculties and maximum of 10-13 faculties. A student can approach any faculty without any fear or hesitation. Inclusion of Post Graduate student has not remained unnoticed and unappreciated as they can provide a more practical advice based of their hands-on experiences.
