The Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Safety and Environmental Management (PGDISEM) program at NITIE Mumbai requires a valid CAT score for admission. The institute does not have any sectional cutoffs for the CAT exam for the PGDISEM program.
However, NITIE Mumbai considers the overall CAT percentile and the candidate's performance in the subsequent selection rounds, such as Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI), and Written Ability Test (WAT), for admission to the PGDISEM program.
Candidates who score above the minimum CAT percentile as decided by the institute will be shortlisted for the selection rounds. The final admission decision is based on a candidate's overall performance in the CAT exam and the selection rounds.
It's important to note that the cutoffs and selection criteria may vary each year depending on the number of applicants and the performance of candidates in the selection rounds. Therefore, it's best to keep an eye on the official website of NITIE Mumbai for the latest updates on admission criteria and cutoffs for the PGDISEM program.
Some of my friends studied at NITIE Mumbai. According to them, there is no better way to get admission to NITIE. There are 2 ways to get admission, these include -
At NITIE all the courses are given equal importance. The faculties of every course are highly experienced and very cooperative.
The college conducts a common placement program, where all the students of all departments can take part in. The course structure is almost similar during the first year.
So you can choose from these 2 ways to get admission to NITIE. Ultimately it depends on your strengths and weaknesses.
There is nothing like a better way to join NITIE, to join any of the courses you have to be top-ranked in the respective exams.
One of my cousins was a part of NITIE Mumbai and has a better outlook regarding the same. Here is what he has to say,
These are what you should know before finally deciding anything.
Yes, NITIE Mumbai gives fee concessions to the general category students also. The form of fee concession is merit cum need a form of scholarship.
The simple meaning of this merit cum need scholarship is that a student has to be eligible for some criteria to avail it. To be eligible, a student needs to maintain considerable academic aggregate and should be from an economically weaker background.
The range of scholarships is in the form of a 30% fee waiver for the students with an annual family income below INR 2.5 lakhs and a 50% fee waiver for the students with an annual family income below INR 1 lakh.
Excluding the scholarship, the students enrolled in the courses of PGDPM, PGDIE, and PGDMM avail of a stipend of around INR 12400.
NITIE does not exclusively mention the courses pursued by the alumni from the institution.

Admission to NITIE includes 2 steps, getting shortlisted for GDPI based on the GATE score and then clearing the GDPI. The GATE score cut-off lies in the range of 650–700 depending upon the no. of applications. Getting PGDIE/PGDMM/PGDPM as your branch of post-graduation depends upon your profile.
The cutoff is the minimum GATE 2023 score on the basis of which candidates are shortlisted for the selection process. However, shortlisting does not guarantee admission. The final selection is based on the performance of the candidates in the group discussion and personal interview as well as past academic performance.
You can get an idea of the NITIE GATE Cutoff 2023 based on last year's cutoff.

It is suggested to fill up maximum programs in NITIE Mumbai. In the initial stage, most of the IIT and NIT are occupied by students who finally go to PSU’s. A lot of vacancies are created in these institutes; you just have to keep yourself updated with it and apply for it.
Lastly, students of the general category opting for Mechanical Engineering at NITIE Mumbai require a GATE score of 720-760 and above.
NITIE Mumbai happens to be my brother’s alma mater, so I think I can give you an idea about life at the institute.
Aside from that, two to three classes each day are required. Prepare for case studies and try to pass at least one for a bonus point on your CV (takes most of the time). Focus on your final results rather than doing 4-5 assignments (one assignment is enough).
NITIE has a beautiful pond and a lush green campus. Students usually enjoy the beauty of the campus in between classes, and they occasionally visit the pond after dinner.
Outside campus, like any other institution in India, there is a small corner shop called KASHI Snacks. From tea to food, this restaurant has everything for NITIE students. As a result, this is a site that is generally crowded with students.
My brother is a former student of NITIE, currently working at a reputed MNC with a great package. His selection to NITIE was an informed decision as he was aware of the opportunities he is gonna get in terms of internships, research projects, and placements. He talked to various alumni and his friends at NITIE to make sure he is making the right decision. The high quality of intellectual students and professors and the huge alumni base of 50+ years does make a lot of difference here.
Here are some highlights of NITIE that you may find helpful.
NITIE gave my brother an opportunity to present his research at the prestigious Stanford University and helped him land a Pre-Placement Offer in one of the biggest conglomerates of the country.
According to my brother’s experience, NITIE, IIM K, and IIMI are on the same level. You can select one of these institutes based on your branch preference. And if you are looking for a job in operation and supply chain management profile, then NITIE is even a better option than IIM A.
Both FMS and NITIE are renowned management institutes in India. FMS is known for its academic excellence and strong industry connections, while NITIE is known for its focus on operations and supply chain management. It's important to note that IIM ABC, FMS, XL, other old b-schools, and other old IIMs are all great B-Schools and admission to any one of them is a matter of great importance and celebration. All these institutes provide an excellent opportunity for the students to shape their careers in every aspect
It’s up to the students how and to what extent they want to avail the provided opportunities.
This is exactly why I refrain from commenting on which B-school is better than the other. Nevertheless, here is a comparative table below
