What should I take, EIE in VIT or CSE/ECE in Amrita University?
It depends on your interest. If you are well aware of EIE and have an interest in the branch then choosing VIT will be better. However, if you want to play it safe then go for CSE//ECE in Amrita University.
I have a few friends from Amrita University, and according to them the rules are very strict and the curriculum is also a bit challenging. The exams of Amrita University are generally very tough and you will have to work very hard to clear all the exams.
According to the placement highlights of recent years, the average and highest CTC offered at VIT are 6 LPA and 39 LPA. While at Amrita the median CTC offered is 3.5 LPA.
I will advise you to do your own research on the branches and make a well-informed decision.
Can I get a seat in a university in Amrita, Coimbatore in CSE or chemical engineering with a rank of 11,500?
I have a few friends from Amrita University, so I can give you some information regarding the required cutoff for admission at the institute.
With this rank, you will get admission at Amrita University but for getting a CSE branch you will need a rank below 3000. If your rank is above 3000, then you may ask the management and you might get Bangalore or Amritapuri branch for the CSE.
If you are not in the Tamil Nadu state quota category you cannot get a seat with the counseling process, you will need to contact the college for more details. If you belong to the state quota then you might get preference and get the branch of your choice.
Which university is better for an ECE stream, Amrita Coimbatore or SASTRA?
Amrita University will be better for ECE. It offers good academics and placements. The recent highlights of Amrita University placements show that around 85% of students gt placed from the ECE branch. The average CTC received by the students of this branch is around INR 7 LPA. Honeywell, Cisco, and Arista are the major recruiters of the branch.
Also, Amrita has a better brand value compared to SASTRA.

It is difficult to predict with accuracy. I have a friend who is an alumnus of the institute and he was able to shed some light on the admission process of the institute. Here is what he had to say.
- You have to apply via AEEE rank, JEE rank, or SAT rank.
- You will need to choose your preferred choice (branch+campus) by a specific date.
- After the mentioned deadline a trial allotment is done. You will be notified about the programs that you might be eligible for. Based on this feedback you can adjust your specified choices. This also has a deadline.
- After the revised deadline the final allotment is done in multiple phases. The number of phases is determined by the university.

My AEEE Rank 2024 is 13000. Will I be eligible for a scholarship?
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeeth offers AEEE scholarship based on the rank in the entrance examination. Usually, 200+ scholarships are awarded based on the Amrita Entrance Examination - Engineering every year. The scholarship ranges from 25% to 90% per annum on tuition fees.
Students with a rank under 1000 might be eligible for a 90% scholarship, candidates holding a 1000-2000 rank in AEEE could be provided with a 50% scholarship and students holding a position within 5000 rank holders can be entitled to a 25% scholarship. Getting a scholarship with a 13000 rank is difficult but not impossible.
The scholarship slab depends on the AEEE 2024 rank, the availability of seats in a particular branch, and the number of applicants applying for that branch.
The university has three scholarship slabs: Slab 1, Slab 2 and Slab 3. Every slab has a subsidized B.Tech fee for the academic year 2024-25. Depending on the rank of the candidate in AEEE 2024, the following subsidized fees must be paid:
- Slab 1: The B.Tech fees for Slab 1 range from INR 1,00,000 to INR 1,50,000 annually for various B.Tech specializations across seven campuses: Amaravati, Amritapuri, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Chennai, Nagercoil, and Faridabad.
- Slab 2: Under Slab 2, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeeth's B.Tech subsidized fee ranges from INR 1,25,000 to INR 2,90,000 per annum for all the specializations.
- Slab 3: It is the last slab for students having a comparatively lower rank in AEEE. The B.Tech fees range from INR 1,50,000 to INR 4,00,000 on an annual basis.
*The scholarship slab 1 and slab 2 are allotted for the academic year 2024-2025.
Scholarship Continuation Criteria:
The continuation of AEEE scholarship is based on the fulfilment of the below-mentioned criteria:
- Academic Performance: For scholarship slab 1, the candidate must have a minimum of 8 CGPA at the end of each academic year and for slab 2, the minimum criteria is 7.5 CGPA.
- There should be no disciplinary action during the period of study in university.
If the student fails to maintain the above criteria, the Slab 1 candidate has to pay Slab 2 scholarship fees. Similarly, if the CGPA of a slab 2 student is less than 7.5, he or she has to pay slab 3 scholarship fees.
In case, the student of a higher slab shifts to a lower slab, he or she will not be able to move back to the higher slab accomplished before.
