Among the above two options, IIIT Pune is the better choice, without doubt, considering several reasons such as fee structure, overcrowding, and the IIIT tag. One of my friends goes there, so I know a bit about the institute.

Key Highlights: (Winning Institute - IIIT Pune)

• There is overcrowding at VIT Vellore, with almost 2300 students enrolled at CSE only in several categories. There is huge competition in VIT due to the number of students sitting in placement altogether. On the other hand, IIIT Pune has even fewer than 100 students in CSE, which is realistic and sensible for students to compete with each other.
• In India, the tag of a government institute has its own value, which is a bitter truth in our country too. Along with that, the IIIT tag always has its own demand for placement in companies and higher opportunities.
• The fee for IIIT Pune is always lesser than that of VIT Vellore, irrespective of the type of hostel chosen at VIT.

There are students who have joined VIT, left the institute due to overcrowding, and went to some other institute. Considering all the above factors, IIIT Pune is a definite choice.

IIITDM Jabalpur has been ranked at 65 for Engineering by JEE Cutoff in 2019 and has been declared as a National Institute of Importance under the Government of India IIIT Act. VIT Vellore on the other hand observes a ranking of 15 by NIRF in 2019 is a leading private university with BTech being its flagship course.

Based on some important criteria, let us have a look at the difference between the two academic institutions:

• IIITDM Jabalpur: The curriculum is designed in such a manner that it allows students to be prepared for advanced specializations and gives the option of choosing from multiple open electives

IIITDM Jabalpur:

• The campus at IIITDM Jabalpur has two hostels and a residence hall along with multiple practical labs such as an Advanced manufacturing lab, biometric lab, computational lab, an open-air theatre, conference halls, smart classrooms, and a well-stocked library.
• It also has great LAN facilities that are functional in the hostels as well as on-campus.

VIT Vellore:

• It has a huge campus with a six-floor library stacked with international journals and free LIBSYS software automation.
• It has multi-cuisine cafeterias and 23 hostels with a gym and an attached swimming pool.
• It is popularly known for its practical labs and has more than 50 well-equipped and updated labs for students.

Placements:

While both the universities offer a great curriculum, IIITDM Jabalpur is known to offer a higher rate of placement and also oversees a greater number of core companies as opposed to VIT Vellore. Students can make their decision based on the given points above.

SRM University is one of the renowned institutes of India. It has almost 20,000 students and 2,600 faculties across all the campuses of the university. In the fields of Engineering, medicine, management, humanities, health science, and science wide range of programs are offered for undergraduates, doctoral, and postgraduates.

• Over 224 government-funded projects are carried out in the research department of SRM.

• VIT offers 19 undergraduate, 34 post graduates, 2 integrated, and 4 research programs.

• Various undergraduate, post-graduate, research courses like B.Tech, MCA, MD, B.Arch, and many more of the fields of engineering, medical, architecture, hospitality, dentistry, management, etc are taught in Manipal University.

• SRM University:

  • The size of the campus is about 250+ acres.

  • State-of-the-art labs, libraries, Wi-Fi, knowledge center, 4000 capacity AC auditorium, 100 online smart classrooms, Hostels with premium facilities, library endless convenience on campus including ATM's, bookstores, dining options, cafeterias, prayer halls, gym, and more are available on the campus.

• VIT:

  • The campus size is about 250 acres.

  • Clubs, library, sports facilities, hostel, health services, transport facilities, pollution friendly management projects such as liquid waste management, solid waste management, solar power, wind power, etc. are some of the facilities and activities going on in the campus.

• Manipal University:

  • The campus is about 313 acres in the area.

  • Hospital facilities, sports facilities, and innovative centers are available for students, Wi-Fi facility is available everywhere across the campus, restaurants, libraries, hostel, labs, etc. are some of the facilities available on-campus.

• SRM University: was ranked #58-200 in India for the year 2020 by NIRF rankings.

• VIT: was ranked #28-200 in India for the year 2020 by NIRF rankings.

• Manipal University: was ranked #14-200 in India for the year 2020 by NIRF rankings.

General Points

• There is not much difference between all these educational institutes.

• They all are one of the top leading institutes of India.

• From excellent placements opportunities for students to best educational environment. All of them are wonderful.

• The only thing that matters is the choice of the student.

SRM consists of some foreign faculties and students from other countries also. VIT is a 9 time record holder for placements. On the other hand Manipal University is one of the highly ranked institutions in India.

A friend of mine recommended me CIT as it is the oldest and a government-aided research institute. CIT was started much earlier than SSN. Needless to say, the institute has much more facilities to offer you as it is the most trusted. 

Here are some basic information about the three institutes:

• If you ask about computer science, SSN and CIT are on the same page. Both the institutes are equally great. If compared on the basis of the CS department, VIT is lagging behind as compared to SSN and CIT. 

• CIT and SSN are more affordable as compared to VIT as it is a deemed University. 

• SSN has the best infrastructure among the three universities. 

• In order to encourage research, SSN offers an amount of twenty-five thousand rupees as part of internally funded projects. You can collaborate with top institutes like Anna University or IIT for projects.

• Though the faculty and quality of teaching at VIT lags behind, it is not the case in CIT and SSN. Both the institutes have a very strong faculty being top institutes.

• If you are planning to study abroad in the near future, SSN should be your ultimate destination. It is known for providing students with facilities to study all around the nation and the world. 

Though the oldest and the most affordable institute among the three is CIT, if your budget allows, you must go for SSN. It is also located in a metropolitan city. You can keep VIT as a backup option due to issues like affordability, comparatively poor faculty, and lack of enough research facilities.

First, you should decide which course you want to pursue Mtech in biotechnology or Mtech in industrial biotechnology as that would help in comparing institutes and choose the one with the better program.

VIT is considered to be the best colleges to pursue Mtech biotechnology due to the excellent consistency it has obtained with the placement rate and the strong conceptual foundation offered to the students along with hands-on experience.

On the other hand, NIT Surathkal is one of the leading NITs in India and offers quality education in Industrial Biotechnology.

NIRF has ranked VIT and NIT Surathkal at 15 and 13 respectively for BTech.

Admission:

• VIT takes admission for MTech Biotechnology based on VITMEE or GATE score. The required eligibility is BE/BTech or MSc in related discipline with 60% aggregate marks. The total fee for the MTech Biotechnology program at VIT is 2.99 lakh.

• On the other hand, NIT Surathkal takes admission for MTech through GATE. The prerequisite for admission is BTech in a related field with a minimum of 55% marks. The total fee for MTech Industrial Biotechnology in NIT Surathkal is 2.48 lakhs.

Placements:

The Department of Biotechnology at VIT is engaged in funded projects from Government departments and various Research institutions namely, DBT, DRDO and DST as well as from core industries. Students of the department get placement across industries such as pharma, biotech, and genetics, etc. Some of the top recruiters at VIT are Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Hetero drugs, Pulsus Healthcare, UnitedHealth Group, Zifo RnD Solutions, Orbuculum.

The top biotech companies like Biocon, Enzene Biosciences visit the NIT Surathkal campus for placements.

VIT has tie-up with various research institutions such as CSIO, Chandigarh; INMAS, Delhi; CMC, Vellore, etc.

Both NIT Surathkal and VIT offer quality education in the field of Biotechnology and have decent placements. So, choose the institute according to your convenience.
