Amrita University is a deemed university whereas SSN is an autonomous institute in Chennai, affiliated with Anna University. I have friends in both universities and according to their first-hand experience, Amrita has a slight edge over SSN. While both colleges offer good quality education, here are some reasons why you should prefer Amrita University.
Overall, both the colleges are great in terms of education and facilities. However, Amrita University is the best choice when it comes to TNEA colleges except for Anna University, Guindy. At the end of the day, all that matters is your hard work and passion for the subject.

Coimbatore Campus:
Bangalore Campus:
Considering all the points and knowing that Coimbatore is the original and the oldest campus of the two, the preference of the campuses should be Coimbatore.

Amrita University's main campus is in Coimbatore. The college states that rank and cut off for the different branches vary each year. At the time of seat allotment, students will be asked to select the preferred program.
It should be noted that Amrita University is only considering JEE Main session 1 scores. The decision will depend on rank obtained in JEE Main or AEEE and seats available on different campuses.
Cutoff:
The table below highlights the ranks for the CSE program at the three branches of Amrita University in 2017.

Amrita Puri CSE |
Coimbatore CSE |

The table shows that students with 2582 rank in AEEE have a chance of getting the Amrita Puri campus with both the State and Open Quota. But the Coimbatore campus' CSE program requires a higher rank of 1831 in the Open Quota.
Students should keep the following in mind as well.
Counseling Process:
The counseling process was initiated by Amrita University on September 3, 2020.
Students get to clarify doubts during the first allotment and those who choose a program in any of the campuses have to pay INR 10,0000.

Important Points:
The counseling will be done through online mode.
Students must keep in mind that the selection will be based on eligibility, seat availability, category, merit, and rank.
In 2018, the opening rank for the general category was between 1-750 and the closing rank was between 9501 to 10000, and that for the reserved category was between 1-15000 and 15001 - 25,000.

You can go to Amrita University without any doubt. Being a new generation college, people now think differently and do not opt for Government colleges just for their reputation.
A lot of my friends recently graduated from NIT Trichy in CSE while some who graduated from Amrita University are doing quite well.
According to my friend at Amrita, the environment is free and lenient. Furthermore, recently he won the 4th hackathon with his peers (team of 4) and his team was different in all 4 hackathons.
| Categories | Amrita University |
| Placement Percentage (overall) | 85% |
| Highest CTC | 28 LPA |
| Average CTC | 8-10 LPA |
| Recruiting Companies | Infosys, Amazon, Microsoft, Google, etc. |
I hope it would be easier to come to a clear conclusion of which college to opt for. Choose Amrita if you aren’t getting your desired branch in IITs, NITs, or BITS. But, if you opt for Amrita University I assure you, you won’t regret it.
One of my cousins studied at Amrita University. According to him, the faculty members at Amrita are really good. Many of them work across different research centers, departments, and multiple campuses. I would clarify that I do not have much knowledge about the faculties at the other mentioned colleges and thus won’t be able to provide any insights.
You should also get engaged with peer groups and other extracurricular activities out of your sheer interest and self-motivation. This plays a very important role as well as provides a lasting impression.
