RM
Raghav Malpani Posted On : May 6th, 2022
MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences

If you are consistent, studying 4-6 hours daily can help you get into AIIMS Delhi. Studying 24*7 and sacrificing everything you like other than academics, isn’t necessary. You may have to procrastinate some activities like playing games or watching web series. But you can still keep 1-2 hours for doing things that you like, other than academics.

Try to stay consistent while preparing and enjoy other things too. This way studying won’t get boring.

What are the hostel rules for AIIMS, Delhi? Are they strict?

FY
Fayaz Yousuf Posted On : May 31st, 2023
MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences

AIIMS Delhi does have its own rules and regulations policy but adherence to these is rarely seen within the campus. A few hostel rules included are

  1. You are prohibited from installing your own AC, but almost every room has an AC.
  2. You are not allowed to make any modifications in the room but most students renovate their rooms as per their needs.
  3. The rules prohibit students from inviting other students to their rooms without permission but even students of opposite gender can be seen together in the same room.
  4. As per the hostel rules, AIIMS students are not allowed to bring electrical appliances but most students have installed their own refrigerators, microwaves, and toasters.
  5. The hostel prohibits students from staying with their families at home but some residents of Delhi go back to their homes daily.

All in all, AIIMS Delhi hostel rules are just for formality, and rarely does the administration implement them.

How can I prepare for AIIMS Delhi?

AG
Anuraag Gupta Posted On : May 30th, 2023
M.B.B.S. from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (2019)

Before I tell you about the subject-size strategy for AIIMS Delhi admission, you need to realize that clarity of goals and a very high level of dedication are prerequisites to getting admission. You should be adamant about AIIMS Delhi and motivate yourself in such a way you end up clearing it.

For subject-wise preparations, you can refer to the below points

Biology: Only NCERT is sufficient for Biology. Every line and diagram should be given equal importance as questions can come from anywhere. Additionally, you can practice MCQs from books like MTG NCERT at your fingertips or any other available to you.

Chemistry. For Physical, you only need some formulae and knowledge for its right application. You need a strong grasp of chapters like thermo, equilibrium, solution, and electrochemistry. Inorganic chemistry needs to focus only on NCERT while for organic, concepts are the key. Additionally, refer to MCQ books like MTG or Arihant.

Physics: First preference is always NCERT followed by S. L Arora or HCV or DC Pandey. Choose one but master it completely. For further preparation, you can practice from previous years' NEET and JEE questions.

GK: Don’t underestimate this portion as it’s the scoring area that tests your common sense and social awareness only,

So, clearing a competitive exam requires

  • 50% determination
  • 40% hard work
  • 10% luck

So be prepared to give your 90%!

What was your story to get into AIIMS Delhi? What is your strategy?

RS
Rajashree Sengupta Posted On : May 30th, 2023
MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi

Here is a story of my friends who got into AIIMS Delhi. He was unable to crack the M.B.B.S. of AIIMS Delhi so he decided to do it later whenever he got the opportunity. Later, he completed his MBBS from IMS BHU with an AIR 1. His UG days made him more confident and he knew he was capable enough to try again. During PG entrance, he attempted all 200 questions and surprisingly got AIR2 in AIIMS PG entrance during my internship. He also got AIR 1 in the AIIMS DM cardiology entrance exam.

When asked about the strategy he adopted to achieve such ranks, he said that all he did was dream big and work hard leaving the rest to luck. What he realized was important, was to believe in yourself even if everyone gives up on you.

Do all of the 7 AIIMS take their students for Shimla trip or is it only for AIIMS Delhi students?

SK
Singdhanjan Kar Posted On : June 7th, 2023
MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences,New Delhi (2020)

Talking about official out-station trips, none of the AIIMS institutions send their students on official out-station trips.

AIIMS Jodhpur sends its students to various inter-college fests, for example, Chiasma (AIIMS Bhubaneswar), and Silhouettes (AFMC, Pune), among others. The same goes for other AIIMS institutions.

Regarding the annual freshers’ trip to Shimla, the trip is planned by the Student Welfare Union of AIIMS Delhi. Thus, it is not an official trip and is organized by a student body. AIIMS Delhi has been in place for a very long time and so while other institutions do not have such a tradition in place, the student body at AIIMS Delhi follows it.

AM
Anuja Mishra Posted On : May 27th, 2023
MBBS student at Malda Medical College and Hospital

AIIMS Delhi is targeted by genius minds from the entire country. It’s their determination to get admission to AIIMS that drives them to ace the exam. So with the right level of dedication and commitment, even average students can crack AIIMS Delhi.

Such students need to work day and night with minimal distractions. A fixed timetable should be made and duly followed if you are adamant about AIIMS Delhi. On average, they need to do 6 to 8 hours of self-study in which they study Chemistry Physics, and Biology and also revise the previous chapters.

Additionally, students who consider themselves average should join online test series so that they can become familiar with online patterns and improve their writing speed as well.

Don’t let anything demotivate you and keep striving for your future.

How's the life of a PG in AIIMS, Delhi?

AM
Anuja Mishra Posted On : May 31st, 2023
MBBS student at Malda Medical College and Hospital

The life of a PG student at AIIMS Delhi is full of new learning and more exposure. Everything that you missed in your MBBS will be taught now and more importance is given to patient observation.

  • You will have to wake up quite early around 7:30-8:00 am.
  • After grabbing a quick breakfast, you will have to run to the OPD and observe the patients along with consultants and faculties, till almost 2 pm.
  • If possible you can have a quick lunch and then proceed to the old cases that continue till 4 pm.
  • Once you are done with the old cases, you have to rush to your ward duty which continues till late at night 12 am.
  • After this, you can come back to your hostel room and wait for the morning so that you can repeat the same cycle.
  • Amidst this cycle, there are emergency calls from SRs, and faculty to observe some specific cases, surgeries, and procedures in OTs.

The second year witnesses a more emphasis on academics and students can be seen spending a major time in B.B . Dikshit library. You will be busy presenting your Journal and attending classes.

The third year is even more hectic as you have to prepare for the final exams in addition to the already hectic hospital duties. Also, you will have to submit your thesis 6 months before passing out.

So, the life of a PG student at AIIMS Delhi is extremely tiresome yet rewarding as you go through millions of emotions, manage, frustrate, and still enjoy the challenging environment.
