You cannot have one actual "campusing" experience at UEM Kolkata, as the institute is barely two years old so far.

On top of that, here's the thing- you have to undergo severely strict rules here at UEM.

• Your attendance matters and is calculated with each subject. 75-80% attendance in each subject is compulsory. You have to be present at the reporting time, otherwise, you won't be allowed to enter.
• Bunking is considered something extremely critical. Like attendance, it is also calculated subject-wise.
• If you have bunked 6 classes one after another, your parents would be informed by 6 messages, for each class.
• You have to attend assemblies. Your attendance at assemblies is mandatory.
• All of your enjoyment plans shall be executed outside the university. And even there you have to make sure you are disciplined.

Since UEM Kolkata works under the supervision and advice of IEM group, your placements would be conducted along with IEM. Competing with IEM students already states how intense the competition would be.

The overall fee structure in UEM Kolkata keeps changing. But, there are no major modifications to it over the last few years. 

• For the 2016-20 batches, the fee per semester was Rs. 60,000. Therefore, the total fee would be Rs. 1.2 Lakhs annual fees.
• During admission, you will need to pay an additional admission fee of Rs. 12,000. So, the first-semester fee is Rs. 72,000 combined together, which the students need to pay before their admission to the institute.
• There is an examination fee of Rs. 1000, which needs to be paid before semester exams. For the first semester, the exam fee is Rs. 1400.
• UEM organizes several technical and professional workshops, and almost all of them are paid. The fee for such workshops varies from Rs. 500-1500, depending on the type and duration of the workshop. But, these are entirely optional. The management will not force you to participate. 
• Previously, the 2015-19 batches had a semester fee of Rs. 37,000, and so Rs. 74,000 annually. All other fees, i.e.-exam fees, workshop fees, etc, were the same for those batches too.

UEM Kolkata is a newly established college equipped with sufficient infrastructure required for student’s academic growth. Laboratories, classrooms, canteens, and every other important necessity are present to give a suitable environment for the students.

In many ways UEM Kolkata is better than RCC Institute of Information Technology. Let’s pick one by one. 

Facilities:

• UEM has a huge collection of Computers in their labs. 
• Other than computers, Electronics lab, Electrical lab, mechanical lab, Solid-state lab, earth science lab, construction engineering lab, CAD/computer Graphics lab, ED lab, Biotech lab, plant genetic engineering lab, Chemistry lab, Language lab, and many others are there to help out students getting hands-on experience.

Faculties-

• Most of the faculties at UEM, Kolkata are either Ph.D. or are pursuing Ph.D.
• According to student reviews, the faculties are very helpful and co-operative.

Course & Curriculum -

• The curriculum is not up to date but it is harder than any other colleges in West Bengal. Students have to study 2-3 extra subjects every semester.
• From the 3rd year onwards there are mandatory GATE preparation classes.
• College provides weekly holiday classes for the students preparing for competitive exams like UPSC, SSC, WBPSC. 
• The college focuses on molding the students professionally from 1st year onwards. Presentations, projects, workshops, etc. are included in the curriculum. 

Exams: 

• The questions set in the exams are really tough. Do not have the misconception that it will be easy to score good marks since it is a private institution.
• The practical and viva exam will grill you in every aspect. 
• There are 3 exams per semester, i.e. two midterms, one semester, and an extra Mock Interview exam (Technical + HR)

Coding Culture, Olympiads:

• The coding club, Codechef arranges 3/4 coding challenges each year. 
• The institute also conducts Physics, Maths, Electronics, Bio Olympiads.

Extracurricular:

College does not have its own cricket ground, basketball or tennis court, etc. Although there are some indoor game facilities like table tennis, billiards.

Fests: 

• UEM, Kolkata conducts Technical Fest which is pretty decent in comparison to other colleges of West Bengal 
• The cultural fest of UEM, Kolkata is just average. 

Research Opportunities:

• In a very short span of time, UEM, Kolkata which is a new college has published research papers in various popular journals. 
• Still, considering the fact that the college is very new, research opportunities are less as compared to other colleges of West Bengal.

UEM, Kolkata has strict rules and regulations. Ragging, humiliation, smoking, drinking, or any kind of nuisance inside the campus is strictly prohibited which makes the campus secure for everyone.

Overall, UEM, Kolkata stands out better if compared to RCC Institute of Information Technology.

• Placements: One of the most important personal reasons to choose UEM Kolkata for MCA was the access to great placement services. It is responsible for guiding and helping students with the best possible internship and job opportunities as per their field of study.

Within the MCA department, eligible students from our batch got a chance to appear for interviews with top MNC’s in the industry and observe great packages. Some of the top recruiters are Global IDS, Cognizant, Decathlon. While both the institutions offer a great program in MCA, UEM Kolkata will be the more preferable choice.

Between UEM Kolkata and Future Institute of Technology, UEM is definitely better for CSE. The CSE department of UEM Kolkata is one of the best departments in the university.

• UEM Kolkata is a new college, established just a few years back in 2015. It has its first pass-out batch in 2019. So, the institute was not able to provide any information related to placement and internship until 2019.

Therefore, you should not expect internships from UEM Kolkata, as they have no separate policy for providing internships.
