For someone who is a fresher and also from a non engineering background, it might be a difficult task to convert a call from TAPMI but it is not impossible. He/she will have to compete with people with experience or a technical background. He/she should be expecting more questions on academic record, personal skills, and strengths.
Below are some general suggestions;

Let us understand this scenario with a simple calculation
It will leave you with approx. 45 to 50K in hand every month, which is good enough to survive in any city in India.
Considering an 8% annual increment, after 5 years your salary would be 22.03 LPA, making it approximately 1.84 LPA per month.
I feel it is worth the money you are going to spend. It is always better to take a loan for your MBA.
Tapmi has state-of-the-art facilities. Each and every student has a Medicare card through which he can access all the facilities at the recognized hospitals at very affordable prices. (Some of them are even free of cost). College, however, lacks cricket and football ground but is well compensated by other sports facilities.
Majority of the teachers have more than 10 years of teaching experience as well as industry experience. Case studies, role plays, simulations (few subjects), labs, class discussions became part of the teaching methods. If the subject demands, an industry expert is called to bridge the gap between academics and the industry to enhance learning.
The average stipend for the internship stood at 60,000 and the maximum was at 2,00,000. More than 90% of students were placed in leading national as well as MNCs procuring good roles. Companies like Elli Lilly, Diageo, L&T, Capgemini, and Yes Bank. Overall, the course seems to be doing well.
TAPMI has made great strides in recent years. It is a great B-Schools with a beautiful campus located in the city of Manipal. I have a friend at the institute and here is his unbiased opinion about the institute.
Infrastructure:
Faculty: The faculty base is average. Some of the faculty members are great and quite cooperative. The administration is very strict about rules.
Rules & Regulations: The institute is quite strict about its rules and regulations. There are strict protocols to follow for night outs, taking holidays to go home and curfew timings. Students also have to maintain a strict dress code.
Campus Life: As long as you stay on campus, you can hang out with your friends till late. There are a few fest and events but these are not that great as compared to other colleges.
Placements:
When it comes to placements the institute is a few disadvantages, i.e. location, large batch size. TAPMI offers 100% placement although the average CTC is a bit inflated especially for the summer placements. The profiles offered at placements are average. Students do get internship offers a lot of these internships do not offer stipends.
Alumni Base: It has a great alumni base. TAPMI has made CMOs and CFOs.
Overall, TAPMI is a good B-School with decent infrastructure and facilities. However, it lacks behind in terms of two crucial factors i.e. location and batch strength.
Considering this year's figures, The highest number of students were placed in the IT / ITES sector followed by the Consulting & BFSI sectors. The table below shows TAPMI PGDM General Placements 2022 Sector-wise.

Apart from figures and placements you should choose the field of study based on your own interests and strengths not on the faculty or features of the college.
TAPMI has very good faculty in all the subjects. IT was and is a major recruiter here. It also gives tough competition to Consulting. So, IT and Consulting are the major specializations opted by the last batch followed by BFSI. But if you have a specialization in mind go for that and don’t just depend on statistics.
Moving on to your next question that why is TAPMI better than KJ and NMIMS Bangalore Well, this is because it has
All this makes TAPMI better than KJ and NMIMS Bangalore.
You must set your sights on an excellent school for TAPMI. You have a very good chance of getting a call from TAPMI if you have an 80 percentile+ CAT score, a good academic profile, and 20 months of IT experience. Not only that, but if your interview goes well, you have a good chance of converting. TAPMI seeks candidates with strong academic credentials.
TAPMI applications are processed entirely online. The application fee is INR 2,000 for up to two programs and INR 4,000 and 6,000 for up to three and four programs, respectively.
TAPMI has an admission process like any other Indian B-school. You have a have to graduation degree with atleast 50% to be eligible for the admission process. TAPMI considers CAT, XAT, and NMAT and they release the individual cutoffs in the month of month of January.
The final selection of the candidates is based on the following:
Category |
% Weightage |
Score in Entrance Test (CAT/XAT/GMAT/NMAT) |
35 |
Score for Academic Performance (in 10th, 12th, Graduation) |
15 |
Group Discussion/Personal Interview |
45 |
Weightage for Gender Diversity & Extra Curricular |
05 |
Total |
100 |
TAPMI usually doesn’t roast its candidates during the interview process. The faculty are really well groomed and calm and they only ask relevant questions.
If CAT/XAT cutoffs are usually around 85+ for Freshers and 80+ for candidates with work experience.
If you are interested in pursuing International Business, then FORE will be a better option, otherwise, TAPMI PGDM is better.
You should choose FORE or TAPMI based on the specialization you want to pursue.
