Your engineering branch won’t matter much during NITIE placements. Your performance and academic record throughout your program will be the deciding factors for placements. So, focus on developing industry-relevant skills and maintaining good grades. If you have a decent academic record and the required skills, you can easily get good placement opportunities through the campus drive.
The PGDIE programs by NITIE Mumbai are offered to candidates based on the score obtained in the GATE Examination.
The final steps of the admission process include a Group discussion round and a personal interview round. The students are granted admission based on their GATE score, Group discussion round, and personal interview.
The eligibility criteria for the PGDIE course at the institute are as follows:
If you have a valid GATE score along with the mentioned details, then surely you would be eligible for admission into the PGDIE courses at NITIE Mumbai.
Having a few friends who graduated from NITIE, I think I can answer this question.
If you compare NITIE's fee structure among the top b schools of the country, it is still less than most of the institutes apart from the Faculty of Management Studies, New Delhi.
At the same time, the placements are quite good at NITIE. According to the recent placement highlights the average CTC offered at the institute is 20 LPA. So I would not claim that NITIE has the best Return On Investment (ROI) but it surely has a better ROI than most of the b schools.
NITIE has the second-best ROI after the Faculty of Management Studies. So choose accordingly and make a wise decision.
NITIE (National Institute of Industrial Engineering) was established under the aegis of the UNDO and ILO and now it is the center of managerial excellence.
The college is located in a very beautiful place which adds to its ideal environment and makes the campus a good place to study. This college has access to some of the largest Indian and Global companies through which they arrange guest lectures, seminars, and industrial visits.
In 2013, NITIE celebrated its golden jubilee and during this event, it integrated all the student events into one event, i.e. Avartan which is the grand celebration of NITIE's vision of being the leader of the knowledge led productivity movement.
In this event, participants from various top business schools compete in various contests. This participation helps in fostering managerial excellence by bringing students, faculty, and industry leaders onto a common platform.
Hence, Avartan has become a single platform to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical application which are being used in the real world.

One of my friends is an alumnus of NITIE who pursued the PGDMM course. Here is his take on this.
There are numerous opportunities for a student enrolled in this course to lead their career in areas other than core manufacturing.
So, you will have plenty of opportunities in fields other than manufacturing.
