Among LD College of Engineering and Ahmedabad University, the former is better. If you check the Admission Council for Professional Courses (ACPC), you will see the competition for admission in bachelors degree at LD is more compared to Ahmedabad University. The facilities offered at LD are also better. You should do your own research regarding the institute before choosing.
Let’s do a basic comparison between the two universities first.
Accreditation: MSU is an autonomous university whereas LDCE comes under ACPC
Infrastructure: MSU has an upper hand in this aspect as its infrastructure is way better than LDCE.
Marking pattern: MSU follows a very tough marking scheme and therefore makes it difficult for students to get good CGPAs.
Placements: The placements of both universities are equally good. I have tabulated the placement statistics below to draw a clearer comparison.

Both the colleges are good and offer a wide range of benefits. Campus life at both colleges is worth the experience. The choice of college depends on every individual’s choice, resources, accessibility, interest, and vision.
One of my friends, being part of the institute, has adequate information about it. Here is what he has to say,

Other Important Facilities:
The advantage of it all is that all these facilities can be availed at only Rs. 1200 per year. The main upside of the hostel is that the seniors in it are known to be very helpful and most of them are friendly.
LD College of Engineering is one of Gujarat’s best premier colleges with the objectives of imparting higher education where the students can explore themselves in engineering.
Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya ranks 9th in Gujarat among the top engineering colleges by NIRF 2020. At present, the institute consists of 132 faculty members.
Sardar Patel University is the 5th oldest premier institute and ranked 114 by NIRF 2019. It is one of the best engineering institutes in Maharashtra, where the college alumni work in top IT firms.

The top recruiters are Deloitte, Byjus, Adobe, Oracle, Directi, Mahindra, PwC, Bosch Limited, Wipro, Tata Communications, Amazon, IBM, Infosys, Oracle, Deloitte, Voltas, Philips, TCS, Accenture, etc.
Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya is much more preferred than the other two colleges. The experienced faculties, good placements, and wide campus make it a suitable place for the students.
If you can afford it, go for it. Because it is a bustling green campus with 40 odd colleges, you will have an unforgettable experience. Placements used to be nice, but they’ve taken a hit recently; however, they’re still good if you’re good at studies (scoring 6.5 CGPA).
LD is also a good college, but it’s not better than BVM, aside from the affordable fees and the fact that it’s in Ahmedabad.
You should also know that LD College and BVM are Engineering colleges. Whereas, Sardar Patel University V.V. Nagar provides B.Sc., M.Sc., and other non-engineering courses.
Now, here’s a comparison of BVM and LD that will give you get a better picture.
Overall, I would recommend BVM.
LD College of Engineering is affiliated with Gujarat Technological University (GTU) and is also overlooked by the Department of Technical Education, Govt. of Gujarat. The department offers a BE program, Postgraduate courses in Water Resources & Management and Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, and a part-time course (Civil Engineering).
The department accepts GUJCET for the BE and GATE score for MTech.

Mahindra, Tata Power, Reliance, The Linde Group, Essar, and GACL are some of the top recruiters of students in the civil engineering department.
In the year 2019, 21 students received job offers from numerous companies.
The average placement rate of the department is 85%.
Over 2244 students have been successfully employed in the last four years from which 95 were from the civil department. In 2019, 565 students received placement offers from the 111 recruiters on campus.
Civil engineers have always been actively involved in transportation infrastructure, industrial plants, dams, airfields, marine ecosystems, environmental services, and manufacturing facilities. It is essential that the student makes their academic choices keeping in mind the college, faculty, department, placement prospects, and campus facilities.
One of my friends was in L.D and another close friend graduated from BVM. Thus, it would be easy to put the points together and compare which one’s the best.
| Parameters | BVM | L.D |
| Average CTC | 3.1 LPA | 4.5 LPA |
| Highest CTC | 8 LPA | 7-8 LPA |
So, go through these points, do your own research and choose the institute best suited for you.
If you're a student at L.D. College of Engineering and would like to change your branch, there are a few steps you can follow:
It's important to note that branch change may not be possible in all cases, and it may depend on various factors such as the availability of seats and the institute's policies. Additionally, there may be a deadline for submitting the application for branch change, so it's recommended that you check with the institute's admission office or academic department for more information on the process and deadlines.
Among the above institutes, an aid seat of Dharmsinh Desai University in CE would be the best option.
The following table gives the order of preference that a candidate should choose among the list of selected institutes.
