Both the IIIT Allahabad as well as MNNIT Allahabad are excellent institutes in their own way and there may not be a clear winner among the two. Here’s a comparison of the two institutes based on a few important parameters which can be of help. 

Legacy:

• MNNIT Allahabad: The computer science department is one of the biggest in the country. Here IT is considered equivalent to CSE. Also, it is a 60-year-old institute so has a better legacy than the former MLNREC.
• IIIT Allahabad: It has a legacy of just over 22 years. But still, it is a widely respected institution in its own way.

Infrastructure:

• MNNIT Allahabad: Infrastructure is inversely proportional to legacy and thus it has average facilities such as libraries, crammed hostel rooms, canteen, non-functional swimming pools, etc.
• IIIT Allahabad: It boasts of state-of-the-art modern infrastructure being a newer institute.

Placements:

• MNNIT Allahabad: For the year 2019, 95.56% of the total 90 eligible students in the IT branch were placed with an average and highest salary of INR 12.97 LPA and INR 36 LPA respectively.
• IIIT Allahabad: They do not provide branch-specific statistics, but according to overall statistics, more than 96% of eligible students got placed with an average and highest CTC of INR 20.83 LPA and INR 43 LPA respectively for the year 2019-20.

Coding Culture:

• MNNIT Allahabad: It is good in this institute and one of the important criteria for any programmer to choose an institute. They have churned out pretty good coders in the past.
• IIIT Allahabad: They are doing great in this aspect recently. This is due to the timely updates their syllabus gets which is in sync with industry demands. Also, coding is introduced right from the first year, unlike other engineering colleges.

Mess:

• MNNIT Allahabad: They serve only vegetarian food which is really difficult for non-vegetarians.
• IIIT Allahabad: They serve both types of foods. So, no need to worry.

At MNNIT Allahabad the seniors are quite helpful. They conduct coding classes or doubt clearing classes for juniors during the weekend.

In the end, both the colleges will give you many things, some good and some not so good. But the most important thing is how you utilize them properly. 

MNNIT Allahabad has recently placed more than 2000 students in top companies like HP, HCL, Adobe and Oracle. Out of 167 students 163 were placed from the CSE department.

• The candidates must have a minimum of 75% marks in 10+2 with PCM and valid score in JEE Main.

• The course fee required is INR 96,750.

Placements:

• MNNIT Allahabad saw the participation of 1174 students in the campus drive of 2019 and out of which 792 students got jobs.
• MNIT Jaipur maintains an excellent placement record every year. A total of 417 students have been placed from both the UG and PG programs. Around 160+ companies visited the campus in 2019.

NIT Bhopal is ranked 65th among top engineering institutes in India by MHRD’s 2020 NIRF rankings. It offers 4 years B.Tech in ECE with a total of 139 seats currently. The 2 years M.Tech in ECE offers specializations in two fields viz., Digital communication and VLSI & embedded systems. The entire faculty of the ECE department holds a doctorate in their respective fields.

The mechanical branch usually gets lesser core companies as compared to ECE and have to appear for non-core placement companies.

The choice of opting for either ME at MNNIT Allahabad or ECE at NIT Bhopal entirely lies with the students wanting to pursue it. Both of them are entirely different courses offered by nationally ranked institutes, hence should be opted by considering the stated facts and statistics.

MNNIT Allahabad is famous for its CSE and IT department because it is the first Indian institute to start with these departments.

In MNIT Allahabad, you can definitely slide your branch from Chemical to IT. The points to be considered to change your branch.

• It is the better choice to change if you have earned a high CGPA of at least 8.8.
• There is not much difference between the IT and CSE branches. So, you can opt to go in any of these because they are equivalent.
• The placement of chemical engineering is the worst in MNIT Allahabad. Therefore, sliding to the IT branch or any other branch (mechanical, ECE, electrical, and production) of your interest will turn out to be an asset for you.

MNIT has an excellent coding culture. You will get an environment to study and watch yourself progressing passionately. There is a computer club, which is the tradition of MNIT. In the club, seniors impart knowledge to their interested juniors.

It is tough to change branches because the seats are fewer, and the competition for it is like cracking another JEE exam. All the branches of MNIT are decent but are worth sliding to CSE/IT. It will reap mouth-watering fruits in the future.
