It all depends on your personality, skills, and grades. My sister was an average student of NITIE but she secured a great package because of her personality and skills.
There is no guarantee that you will get the highest package. But, you can increase your chances by doing below few things mentioned below:
Hope this helps. All the best.
As there are many competitors, admission is tough. But only the cream students get the admission letter. The process includes cracking the CAT exam with a high percentile and acing the GDPI process after getting shortlisted. The final scores after aggregating the CAT and GDPI scores get calculated. The top highest scorers as per seat matrix are offered admission.
For the GDPI process, the topics can be abstract, technical, current affairs, or related to management. A few of the topics in the group discussion as per seniors are below.
These were the few topics. The topics are much simpler than the IIMs. Overall, the GD is comparatively easy to crack if you read the newspaper and track your surroundings.
Top IIMs (BLACKI) can undoubtedly beat any management college in India, but NITIE is the best choice after them. The following are the reasons.
Check the placement statistics below:
Particulars | PGDIM | PGDISEM |
Average CTC | INR 20.84 LPA | INR 16.28 LPA |
Highest CTC | INR 44 LPA | INR 44 LPA |
The order of preference should be Old IIMs> NITIE> IIT Bombay> IIT Delhi> New IIMs.
NITIE offers 5 courses. These 5 courses are as follows.
You can make your choice according to your interest.
When it comes to pursuing marketing from NITIE, you should know that the institute is focused around operations. But, you will definitely be able to pursue marketing or similar roles from the college.
Don’t keep NITIE as your top priority for marketing. Keep it as a backup and if you do end up at NITIE, you can keep all your electives marketing oriented.
Due to normalization, the minimum marks required vary from 65 to 72. But, the minimum GATE score that you must try to score lies between 725 to 750 marks. Here is the cutoff for 2021.
Category | GATE Cutoff |
General | 609 |
OBC | 473 |
SC | 345 |
ST | 317 |
Physically disabled | 473 |
Please take note that your admission to the institution does not wholly depend on your GATE score. In fact, a good GATE score only makes you eligible for getting shortlisted and getting a call letter for further rounds which constitute group discussion (GD) and personal interview (PI).
Before releasing the final merit list, different weights are assigned to your past academic records- 10th, 12th and undergraduate percentage, your GATE score, and your performance in the GD and PI round, and then, all these scores will be added up and an aggregate will be taken out. Thus, making it to college does not solely depend on your GATE score.
Apart from your hard work, determination, and perseverance, nothing guarantees you admission to this premier institution.
NITIE accepts CAT and GATE for its various PG courses. The below table shows the course and accepted exams.
PGDIM, PGDISEM | CAT |
PGDIE, PGDMM, PGDPM | GATE |
The institute has a basic eligibility criterion of a minimum of 60% marks in graduation (in any branch of engineering/ technology). For reserved candidates, it is 55%. After getting shortlisted by the GATE exam, you have to appear for the GDPI process for the final selection.
Usually, the college does not reveal the sectional cutoff on an official basis. On average, the cutoff are decided depending on the applicant pool and this could also decrease after a while by a few percentiles. This is true for a few sections but expects it not to go below 80.
With your current scores and past trends, if you are from the general category then you will not get a call back from the institute.
If you are lucky with respect to your applicant pool, you might have some small chances, but my advice to you would be to look for other options and not keep high hopes.
It's a subjective question and mostly depends on your profile. PGDMM would be advantageous, if you are a fresher, especially with a mechanical or manufacturing background. It is better in terms of securing a good profile, a good package (Avg. 12 LPA), and robust manufacturing domain command.
A few years of work experience would be preferable for the PGDPM course, but it is not required. It's a safe option to play for both freshmen and those with a little experience because it improves your profile, package, and adds the rich experience of a top MBA school - NITIE.
Pursuing PGDIE from NITIE is the better option. It is the flagship course of the institute. It is one of the best courses for Operation, in the country. You will get to learn a lot about the domain.
Also, NITIE PGDIE placements are pretty good. Companies from various domains such as Finance, Operations, IT, and eCommerce, visit the campus placements. After completing your degree, you will have many options to choose from.
