Most MTech and Ph.D. female students are assigned the following hostels

All these hostels are in close proximity to the main building and entrance thus making it easy for female students to commute to and fro from the hostel.

I will throw some light on the harsh reality of Chemical Engineering at IIT KGP or in India generally.
- There is no quality Chemical engineering education in India.
- There are NO private chemical engineering companies in India.
- There isn’t a single Engineering college in India that has given any chemical engineers.
- Most Engineering aspirants from top colleges pursue computer engineering to become software engineers. The companies visiting for placements are not interested in academic credentials but look for the TopCoder and GitHub profiles of the job applicants.
- Others become Managers in the industry and start earning really well. The companies hiring managers depend largely on the past academic records of the candidates.
Chemical Engineering in India is almost non-existent and the job prospects of the same are nill.
Which one should I choose: MBA at IIT Kharagpur (operations) or IMT Ghaziabad (finance)?
IIT Kharagpur for operations would be better than IMT Ghaziabad (finance). As IMT Ghaziabad is more famous for its marketing course than finance. IIT Kharagpur is known for its operations management program and has a strong reputation as an institution of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). A few key aspects of IIT Kharagpur are as follows:
- In 2023 IIT Kharagpur secured 14th rank among all top management schools in India. This does reflect its academic excellence, infrastructural abilities, faculty strength, and placement records.
- The faculties are adequately skilled and helpful while imparting quality education.
- The hostel's amenities include triple and double sharing, as well as all the essentials. The food is of high quality, and you will have four meals. The admissions procedure includes signing up for the hostel. Accommodation in a hostel is required for all students.
- IIT Kharagpur placements 2023 have been concluded. IT Kgp highest package stood at INR 43.37 LPA whereas VGSOM IIT Kharagpur's average package stood at INR 22.13 LPA.
So based on these aspects IIT Kharagpur is a better option for pursuing an MBA in operation management.

The first step in the journey of getting a Ph.D. degree is giving either of these exams; GATE, NET, CSIR, or UGC. Next, you have to decide on a particular field in which you will be conducting your research. After this, you have to look for a faculty advisor that has experience in the kind of research work you are looking for. His teaching style should necessarily align with your learning style. Conduct extensive research on the topic you will be working on.
IIT Bombay: Here, you are required to do some coursework on the topic you have chosen. Choose the course that will give you more opportunities than others. Most Ph.D. students take some courses only to make up the required credits. This is not right as you will miss the opportunity to learn so much from every department. The most preferred courses are CS and Modelling at IIT Bombay.
One can even upgrade their skills in Mathematics and Statistics. Other courses that might help you in research work are fluid mechanics, soil mechanics, inorganic chemistry, solid-state physics, and thermodynamics.
Basically, you should choose your coursework not only for credits but to get knowledge of the research work you will be doing. Seek help from your advisor on the same.
What should I choose, CSE at IIT Hyderabad, BHU, mechanical at IIT Kharagpur or electrical at IIT Roorkee?
Irrespective of the IIT you choose, CS placements are excellent everywhere with very lucrative packages offered to its top rankers. A good student can pay a package as high as INR 30-40 LPA in CS whereas the same students will only end up with a package of INR 10–15 LPA.
While many may comment that placements should not be the only determining factor, I am here to contradict that opinion. CS is a branch that is dynamic and any engineering aspirants will be attracted to it naturally while other branches are a bit rigid and require specific attention.
As far as CSE at IIT BHU is concerned, it’s at par with most older IITs. The majority of the batch is pre-placed or placed on the first day itself. A few top recruiters include Goldman Sachs, Oracle, Microsoft, etc.

Being a 2nd-year student is too early to start preparing for UPSC CSE. You might tire yourself out and when the actual time comes to outperform, you might not have the energy left to cope. Here are some guidelines that might help you prepare for this exam well in advance.

Additionally, you can work for NGOs to get a sound knowledge of prevailing issues, and practice writing answers and you will be well on your way.
Which is better, chemical at IIT Kharagpur or CS at IIT Mandi?
Choosing Chemical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur is a better option as compared to CS at IIT Mandi. IIT KGP is a much older institution with a rich legacy and a stronger alumni network. Other than that, Chemical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur has an active research culture.
On the other hand, IIT Mandi may not be the best option because of its recent establishment. Although the IIT Mandi placements seem promising, they are nowhere near IIT KGP placements.

When considering graduate business programs, it is important to weigh the various factors that may influence your decision. IIT Kharagpur's Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSoM) has a long legacy and robust alumni network, spanning over 25 years. In contrast, IIM Nagpur, a newer institution, has graduated only three batches so far. VGSoM also boasts a spacious campus of 2100 acres, while IIM Nagpur does not have its own campus.
