I am an alumnus of NIT Surathkal. NITK offers internships during the summers. These are on campus research internships, based on your area of interest. However, it is solely upon the professor's guide to accept or reject your application.
Other than that, Engineering students of NITK get numerous opportunities to intern at top brands through summer and winter internship drives. These internships can turn into full-time employment through PPOs. NITK students can also intern at foreign universities. This is because NITK has various MOUs with foreign educational institutes.

Should I go to NIT Surathkal Mechanical or ICT Mumbai Chemical?

Which is a better choice between IIIT Bangalore ECE M.Tech and NIT Surathkal Electrical?
I am listing down certain parameters for a better comparison between both these options-
- Curriculum- In terms of curriculum, IIIT Bangalore is ahead of NIT Surathkal. At IIIT B, you’ll start learning core subjects from day 1 itself. At NITs, on the other hand, first-year students are taught Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Engineering Drawing, and other subjects that won’t be useful for Electrical studies. Also, at IIITB you’ll be solving industry-relevant assignments, which will give you a good insight into the requirements of your field. The curriculum at IIITB is far more updated and advanced.
- Faculty- Even in terms of faculty, IIIT Bangalore is ahead of NIT Surathkal. They will give you all the relevant information on recent developments in the field of research.
- Placements- Both campuses are visited by well-known brands for placements. With an 8+ GPA, you’ll be eligible to sit for placements at all core companies. Maintain good scores and proper knowledge of your field to get placed in a good company, at a package of 20+ LPA CTC.
- College Life- IIIT Bangalore has a small campus and no good fests. On the other hand, NITK has a huge campus with a private beach. So NITK definitely offers a better campus life.
- Location- Location-wise, IIIT Bangalore has a greater advantage as it is located in Bangalore. NITK is located in the small town of Surathkal.
Both the colleges are really good. I would recommend you make your decision based on the branch you are interested in studying.

NIT Surathkal and NIT Warangal are both top NITs.
IT and CSE are both related to tech and computers. Both these branches offer equal opportunities. Also, the curriculum is the same for both. NITW is placed 21st in the 2023 NIRF engineering rankings. On the other hand, NITK is placed 12th.
The placements offered at both these colleges are pretty good. During 2023 placements at NITW, B.Tech CSE students recorded 99.4% placement. The average package stood at INR 30.5 LPA, and the highest package stood at INR 88 LPA for B.Tech CSE. As for NITK, last year the IT department achieved the highest package of INR 45 LPA.
Thus, both options are equally good. So you can go for either IT at NITK or CSE at NITW.
How are the clubs at NIT Surathkal? Are all of them functional and in full flow? Can someone give me the latest views on it?
The Artists Forum club at NIT Surathkal is one of the most active clubs of this college. It is the fine arts club.
- It is very active all throughout the year and organizes a bunch of events and activities.
- It even organizes two trips in a year and is also known for a good team building and hangout spirit.
- Being a fresher, you will realise that the team will become your second family within a few months.
- If you are considering joining it, the club recruits people in the beginning of the odd semester in August/September.
- The process is quite simple. You will be given an art based test, submit a resume and give a personal interview.
- A good plus point is that it is a transparent body without any language or region bias.
- The three main qualities the club is looking for are creativity, teamwork and dedication.
- It organizes art competitions like Art Beat, decorates for a few fests in college and other traditional festivals like Diwali. The best event is known as Udaan, which is a kite flying and beach festival celebrated on the day of Makar Sankranti.
- Other than this, fests like Kalakriti and a cultural fest called Incident are some of the activities the club participates in.
You will also see a lot of inter-club activities and workshops taking place and trips planned every semester. Freshers, Job Treat and Farewell are a few other major events. When you join the club you will realise that all these festivals are celebrated by the entire club as a family. You will definitely enjoy your time here.
Which is better Mtech biotechnology at VIT or Mtech industrial biotechnology at NIT Surathkal?
First, you should decide which course you want to pursue Mtech in biotechnology or Mtech in industrial biotechnology as that would help in comparing institutes and choose the one with the better program.
VIT is considered to be the best colleges to pursue Mtech biotechnology due to the excellent consistency it has obtained with the placement rate and the strong conceptual foundation offered to the students along with hands-on experience.
On the other hand, NIT Surathkal is one of the leading NITs in India and offers quality education in Industrial Biotechnology.
NIRF has ranked VIT and NIT Surathkal at 15 and 13 respectively for BTech.

- NIT Surathkal has permanent HODs, associate professors, and professors. The faculties are well experienced.
