What is to be done in order to slide your branch from production engineering in MNNIT Allahabad?
As a former B.Tech student at MNNIT Allahabad, here is my advice on this matter-
To switch to some other branch from Production Engineering, you need to study hard during your first year. You don’t need to study as much as you did while preparing for your JEE, but you’ll have to work harder than your peers. It also depends on the number of vacant seats in the branch you wish to switch to. Many times, CS witnesses zero vacancies for branch sliding.
But do not spend all your time worrying about branch sliding. Enjoy your stay at the fresher hostels, as they are the best ones. Participate in tech events like ‘Avishkar’ and make good use of the 24*7 wifi connectivity.
Study for at least 4-5 hours a day, and score 8.5+ CGPA during first year to at least have fair chances at branch sliding.
What are the placement details of M.Tech electrical engineering at MNNIT, Allahabad?
A number of core and consulting companies visit the Electrical department of MNNIT Allahabad with good job offers. The placements are above average for Electrical students.

My friend studies CSE at MNNIT Allahabad. Through close contact with him over all these years, I find myself eligible to answer your question.
MNNIT intakes students with around 3000-4000 rank in JEE Mains, for its B.Tech CSE program. This shows the quality of the students at the CSE department. The average package for this degree is around 27.57 LPA through campus placements. Top companies like Facebook visit the department and offer around 1.63 CPA to the B.Tech CSE students.
The kind of competition that prevails among the students to get into B.Tech CSE at MNNIT Allahabad, and the high placement records are enough to prove the value of this program, and of MNNIT.
Which would be better, Civil MNNIT Allahabad or Civil NIT Surathkal? I am a North Indian.
If you are looking for a private job, then you should consider Civil Engineering at NIT Surathkal. Here are some reasons why:
- NIT Surathkal has a great reputation for producing graduates who get placed in top software multinationals or investment banks at lucrative packages.
- The insider knowledge of the college along with the feedback from many students at NIT Surathkal, assures that the college has a lot to offer in terms of quality education and training.
However, if you want to go for a government job, then you should go with Civil Engineering at MNNIT Allahabad. Here are some reasons why:
- MNNIT Allahabad has exceptional faculties and offers a competitive environment that is unmatched by any other college.
- Civil Engineering from MNNIT Allahabad has a great track record of producing GATE toppers, with students securing ranks 1, 2, 4, 6, and 9 when I entered the college.
- With the devotion and resources MNNIT has to offer, most Mechanical and Civil aspirants here can crack GATE or ESE with ease.
Which would be better, “Civil MNNIT Allahabad or Civil NIT Surathkal?” I am a North Indian.
It is difficult to shift to a location that is far away from home. As a North Indian who was faced with a similar situation, I can completely understand your hesitation in choosing NITK.
Talking about this branch, the placements of Civil are comparatively low, irrespective of your college. Even in the IITs, a number of Civil students remain unplaced. But overall, the placements for Civil are slightly better at NIT Surathkal. NITK also has better infrastructure and a private beach.
But if you plan to prepare for UPSC or GATE, like most Civil students, MNNIT is an ideal choice. MNNIT students secure top ranks in these exams. The environment of MNNIT is ideal for the preparation of competitive exams. I am not aware of the environment provided at NITK for competitive exam preparation.
Both MNNIT and NIT Surathkal are renowned colleges. Both are good choices. You should choose between them based on personal preference. I would also recommend you approach some seniors from NITK to learn about the lifestyle and eating habits over there. Try to find out if the place will suit you or not.
Which is the better college for an M.Tech in VLSI, NIT Calicut or NIT Allahabad?
It depends upon the state you belong to. I have a few friends from both NIT Calicut and NIT Allahabad and based on the reviews I got from them, l recommended that you go for NIT Allahabad. Here are some reasons why.
- Allahabad is in close proximity to Delhi, as opposed to Calicut. The faculty of Delhi’s top universities visit the Allahabad campus often and rather, conveniently.
- The course structure at both NIT Calicut and NIT Allahabad are similar. This gives you the freedom to choose the Allahabad campus and not move extremely far down the south. However, in case you belong to Kerala, you can opt for NIT Calicut.
Having said that, you are required to concentrate on what your goals are; and consider your aims following M.Tech. Choosing an institute based on that will be better.
What stuff do I need in the hostel of MNNIT Allahabad?
The answer is a bit subjective because you need to carry the things that are important to you. But as far as basic necessities are concerned, here’s a list of them-
- Clothes for the hostel and the college.
- Some homemade snacks. The hostel canteen’s food may not be to your liking, and its timings may not match yours.
- Bedsheets, a pillow and a mosquito net. The bedding is available over here, but they sell it for very high prices.
- A rope to dry laundry, an extension cord, and an umbrella (the monsoon starts around mid July).
- Clothes for fests and outings.
- All the other things are easily accessible over here.
- Other than all these things, you may carry a laptop, an electric kettle, a hard disk and a bicycle (although you can easily buy a first or second hand bicycle over here).
This is all you need to carry for a smooth stay at the MNNIT Allahabad hostel.
How are so many people from the MNNIT Allahabad able to clear the ESE and the GATE civil engineering tests?
The students of MNNIT Allahabad successfully clear GATE/ESE through their hard work and dedication.
Here are my observations in this matter-
- Such students support each other. No one is good at every topic, so they seek help from their friends, whenever needed.
- They spend long hours self studying. I’ve personally witnessed some students study for long hours (with regular breaks in between) in the college library.
- They maintain good connections with the faculty members, and seek their guidance from time to time.
- They re-energize themselves by spending quality time with friends, and engaging in fun activities.
As much as I have observed, it is their discipline and a planned routine that helps such students excel in their life.
Which is better among IIIT Lucknow for CSE, NIT Allahabad and HBTI Kanpur for chemical engineering?
Go for the one which is nearer. Although, IIIT Lucknow is a fair enough option to consider for chemical engineering. All the above-mentioned colleges are national-level recognized colleges.
- The reason why IIIT Lucknow is slightly preferred over the others is because of its campus which is ever-growing and developing.
- The recruiters are always eyeing the campus and offering packages as high as 10 LPA, which makes it quite a welcome option for all the applicants and aspiring candidates.
- Moreover, the campus will help you to focus on extra-curricular and other curricular activities too apart from academics, thus paying a lot of attention to the overall growth of the personality holistically and not just scoring good grades.
- The multiple competitions and championships happening are always intended to prepare the students holistically.
You can go for HBTI Kanpur only when you have no other options of IITs or NITs. It is a state-level college and not as reputable as the others.
How is the placements at MNNIT Allahabad for M.Tech in Communication Systems?
First and foremost, best of luck for your M.Tech admissions.
The M.Tech ECE placements are average at MNNIT Allahabad. The placements largely depend upon the expected number of recruitments from visiting companies for a particular year.
Companies like Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, Idea Cellular visit the campus with limited job vacancies. Other companies that make M.Tech ECE recruitments from our college include Tejas Networks, Digicomm semiconductors, Eximius, etc. Apart from that, M.Tech ECE students get the opportunity to sit for some software companies as well.
Maintain 9+ CGPA (doing so is easy) and focus more on doing projects using tools like MATLAB, NS-2 and System Vue. By doing so, you’ll increase your chances of getting a good package during the placement season.
Thus, the Communication Systems placements are quite decent at MNNIT, but everything boils down to your individual efforts.
