MSc in Environmental Biotechnology is a very niche course that is offered by very few universities in India, Cochin University of Science And Technology (CUSAT) being one of them. Personally, I have come across very few schools of Environmental Studies in Indian universities that offer this program.
But then if you are interested then nothing should come between you and your choice. You may look at some of the IITs, IISERs, and other top universities if they provide this course or not and whether or not you are eligible for it. If you are not getting them, then CUSAT is fine as well.

The year has not been predictable so far. Due to the pandemic, the procedure to make a merit list for the selected candidates has changed. Therefore, it is difficult to predict what rank you get based on your marks.

My brother is an alumnus of CUSAT and according to him, the best branch to opt for at the institute is Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding. It is the flagship course offered by the university. To get admission into this branch you will need a rank less than 500 in the CUSAT CAT or a relaxed rank depending on the category of reservation you have.
Here is the required cutoff for Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding according to 2020 trends.

No, companies like Google, Apple, Amazon, etc don’t recruit students from any branch of engineering in CUSAT.
Companies like Google recruit students from premier institutes like IITs, NITs, DTU, NSIT, etc only. For institutes like CUSAT, such high-profile job offers cannot be expected on campus.
These are some of the key highlights regarding the placement of students in CUSAT, which is decent, but not as good as IITs and NITs.
