What should I choose NIT Allahabad production, NIT Bhopal chemical or NIT Raipur electrical?
Irrespective of whichever branch you are getting the preference order for the aforementioned NITs is NIT A > NIT B > NIT R.
However, your interest plays a big role in determining the right branch for you. Some choose a branch they are genuinely interested in while some go for a branch that provides better opportunities.
In the first case, their passion leads them in their career while in the second case, the plethora of opportunities will be the guiding light. Students are in general confused about choosing a good college over a good branch or vice versa. I will advise you to always prioritize your interests in that case because you will have to pursue that field not just for 4 years of graduation but throughout life.

Which is better at NIT Raipur Mechanical or Civil?
Both branches offer enough opportunities and scope in their respective fields. However, choosing one between these two will depend on your own preferences.
Placement-wise, Mechanical is slightly better than Civil at NIT Raipur. But that certainly does not mean that Civil students don’t get any kind of opportunities. One of my friends did his internship at Delhi Metro (DMRC) and that opened many doors of opportunities in both public and private sectors. As a civil engineer, you can contribute your services towards the nation's development along with public services.

In my opinion, Civil Engineering seems to be a better option than Mechanical. This is because there are huge vacancies in the public sector so the demand for civil engineers is slowly increasing. However, one must bear in mind that NIT Raipur has very few core companies coming for placements. Some of them that have visited in the past are L&T, SPCL, S K Samantha, Buildkraft, and PSUs like BPCL, HPCL, and CIL.
Ultimately, choose the branch that suits your inclinations and future prospects.
Why is NIT Raipur not having international rankings while NIT Rourkela does?
NIT Raipur has not been ranked in international rankings because it still hasn’t reached the level where ranking bodies would consider it credible enough to be ranked. They consider a number of criteria while evaluating colleges such as Employment Reputation, Ph.D. faculty, Citations per faculty, Intentional students, and Intentional students. Sadly, NIT Raipur is way behind other NITs at least on the basis of the aforementioned criteria.

Is it good to pursue Bachelor of Architecture from NIT Raipur?
One of my friends pursued his B.Arch from NIT Raipur. According to his experience, a Bachelor of Architecture from NIT Raipur is not a good option. The faculty quality is average. There is too much workload on students.

- There are several good colleges in Maharashtra and Gujarat for Architecture. But NIT Raipur has a lot of bad reviews from students who have studied B.Arch in the institute.
- Most teachers in Architecture at NIT Raipur are not good in their teaching habits and capabilities. Teachers make students mindless about their actions, even some hard working ones.
- It is obvious that Architecture studies involve a lot of hard-work in assignments, but teachers are not even sensible about the fact.
- The curriculum at NIT Raipur is such that it can frustrate a student who has good concepts to the core.
- People may tell you a college does not matter in the overall development of students. But, it is true that in fields like architecture and management, you need to be smart enough to deal with a lot of people in your career. NIT Raipur is not a decent place for a Bachelor of Architecture, considering all the above factors. If you have any other options, it will be wise to go for them.
Which is better, NIT Raipur or BIT Sindri?
Well, the answer to this question depends on your choice of discipline and score in the entrance exam. If you secured a good rank in the JCECE exam and a bit low rank in JEE Mains then it is recommended to opt for your favorite branch in BIT Sindri. If you are getting the same branch in NIT Raipur then placement figures will definitely fluctuate.
Infrastructure:
Talking about infrastructure, NIT Raipur is way better than BIT Sindri. Though the campus is BIT Sindri is large but the buildings, as well as the hostels, require a lot of renovation.
Type of Institute:
Apart from that, NIT is a national level institute while BIT Sindri is regional due to which NIT provides you better exposure.
Faculties:
The faculties at NIT colleges are well educated as well as experienced. At BIT Sindri, there is a lack of guidance due to the inefficiency of faculties in many subjects.
So, if you decide to choose among both of these colleges, it is recommended to go through the placement records of the past few years as well as the type of companies visiting the campus. Ultimately, it's your decision so choose wisely.
Is it worth doing an MTech in IT at NIT Raipur?
Unless you are getting MTech in top IITs and NITs, NIT Raipur is a decent choice. The MTech in Information Technology has been recently started and is one of the highly coveted programs.

The average package is much more than the total fees so the MTech program at NIT Raipur is definitely worth it. Apart from this, the placement scenario is also very promising. Almost 40% of students get placed every year. The highest package offered is 9-10 LPA and the top recruiting company is Vedanta. How is the NIT Raipur telling about its placement facilities, infrastructure, Wi-Fi, sports, and extracurricular activities?
The placement percentage for NIT Raipur is around 70-80%. The average package ranges from 3.5 lakhs per annum to 5 lakhs per annum.
- The placements completely depend on your branch as CSE has seen 200% placement as well. On the other hand, the placement percentage for Biotechnology was around 70% to 80%.
- When we talk about infrastructure, the renovation is going on. The new campus has been proposed in Naya Raipur. Therefore, the infrastructure gets 5/10 marks.
- The campus is not completely equipped with Wi-Fi facilities but the proposal has been made. This will take around 1 or 2 years to come into existence. Wifi is available on the main campus, central garden, girls’ and boys’ hostels with a speed of 300 MB per 5 seconds.
- Some areas like the Mathematical and the Biotech Department do not get satisfactory signals. But one can use LAN connection over there.
- The college is not equipped with sports facilities but a sports fest is held every year. In the Sports Fest, various world champions like Geeta Phogat have visited the college. Apart from this, NIT Raipur has bagged positions at various sports competitions as well.
There are enough extracurricular activities to meet your need. The college has Avartan, the Tech Fest, E-day celebration, Samar, the Sport’s Fest and Eclectica, the Cultural Fest where celebrities like Mohit Chauhan and Sachin – Jigar visit the college. There are also various teams dedicated to several activities – Sanskriti (cultural), Shaurya (sports), Technocracy (tech), Abhinay (drama), and Nrityam (Dance). All of them are considered to be the best on their own.
How is NIT Raipur for biomedical engineering?
Biomedical Engineering is a branch of engineering that deals with the manufacturing of instruments that would serve medical sectors. So, if you have even a slight interest in Medical Science, go for it. If not, I suggest you consider other options.
I feel choosing Biomedical Engineering is actually a bold decision as most engineering aspirants have a sheep mentality and prefer branches like CSE and IT only although they have no interest in them. All they care about are placements and many even regret later in life.
The sad truth is there is very little scope for the Biomedical branch in India and the placement opportunities are limited. The government also does not invest much in this field and only a handful of companies hire the students of this branch. Last year 21 offers were made to 37 students of the branch.
Overall, NIT Raipur is a decent choice for Biomedical as there are several research options too.
Do we get hostels right after we join NIT Raipur, and can parents stay at the guest house while attending for admission?
There are several factors considered by NIT Raipur before allotting permanent hostels to students. The points below give a brief overview of the conditions and processes of hostel allotment in the institute.
- During the initial days, every student can get a temporary hostel allotment. But, the selection of students for permanent hostel allotment is based on their score in the 11th and 12th classes.
- The admission process is generally short, which does not need much time. So, the institute will not provide accommodation to parents.
- In most cases, the institute does not provide any kind of accommodation during the admission process. So, own arrangements are required.
- At most, 40% of students get a permanent hostel. Though the figure is quite less, it is not a problem to stay as there are several private hostels/pgs available in Kota, which are located behind the campus. There are several kinds of accommodation- single, 2 or 3 sharing basis, etc.
- One of the major concerns staying in hostels is the quality and type of food available. It is difficult to adjust, especially for people from Southern states. Though this is a problem, students get used to the local food available.
