Are courses in DTU and NSIT flexible? Can students from lower branches study a minor in C.S. easily?
As an NSUT student, the new CBCS (choice based credit system) allows you to choose your fields of study. This makes for more flexible courses. Also, NSUT has an excellent coding environment which will help you for your minor in Computer Science. Many students over there pursue coding, despite being from a branch other than IT/COE.
In DTU, you will have electives starting from 5th semester.These are department and general electives. IIIT Delhi offers the most flexible courses. Other than some fixed category credits, all the subjects are choice based.
Thus, in terms of providing flexible courses, this is the order of preference- IIITD> NSUT>DTU.
Which is better: software engineering at DTU or ECE at NSIT?
The answer to this question depends on the interests. It totally depends on the field of interest of the student.
- If one is interested in software and development and using devices such as laptops or mobile phones, then one can choose Software engineering at Delhi Technological University (DTU).
- If one is interested in the hardware part, then he/she should opt for ECE at NSIT.
- After all if one is still confused to make a decision for either of the streams, then only the candidate should apply for Software Engineering at DTU.

Therefore, according to the placement averages and top companies that visit the college, Software engineering from Delhi technical university seems like a viable option. There is a wide wage gap that we can see in the tables mentioned above. Also, most of my batch mates also feels that software engineering in DTU is a better option as compared to ECE in NSIT.
What should I prefer between NSUT CSAI, IIIT Allahabad IT and MNNIT Allahabad CS?
Both IIIT Allahabad and MNNIT are highly regarded engineering colleges in North India offering premium quality education. Placements-wide, MNNIT CSE is slightly better compared to both NSUT and IIITA. In my opinion, the preference order should be
MNNIT CSE >= IIITA IT > NSUT CS/AI
MNNIT is the first choice because it’s on Eid the top 5 NITs with the most sought-after branch CSE. IIIT Allahabad is also a great choice for CSE because it has a CS-tailored curriculum and ambiance.
Overall I feel if you are certain of joining an IT company, and have an interest in coding and computers go for IIIT Allahabad IT or MNNIT Allahabad. If you are unsure of your branch preference go for NSUT.
Which is better NSUT IT or PEC CSE for a Chandigarh student?
In terms of brand recognition and exposure, NSUT IT is better than PEC Chandigarh. Delhi offers way better exposure, due to the presence of the industry belt in the area. There are many reputed technological institutes in Delhi such as IIITD, so the learning opportunities are ample.
CSE and IT aren’t too different. The major difference between the two branches is hardware and 90% of students are more invested in software roles. If you aren’t particularly interested in the hardware section of Computer Science, choosing NSUT will be better. NSUT placements are great for IT. Students of the branch get salary packages in the range of INR 4 - 20 LPA.
How is NSIT Delhi compared to NIT Surathkal?
Since you have not mentioned any particular branch, I assume that you are getting to choose from all the branches at both institutions. Both the colleges have their own pros and cons.
Being a student of NIT Surathkal, my brother has often talked about its greatness.
Campus:
- NIT Surathkal has a big campus spread across 300 acres of land. There is a private beach, gym, swimming pool, and everything that you need for recreation.
- There is a high-speed WiFi facility as well.
- There are separate departments for all the major and minor subjects.
- The campus of NSIT Delhi is not as big as the campus of NIT Surathkal and is spread across 150-200 acres of land. It has a lush green campus which is aesthetic along with wide roads.
Academics:
- NIT Surathkal is strict when it comes to academics. Along with your GPA, your projects will also be given equal importance.
- In both colleges, you can freely do your project in any domain.
Faculty:
- NIT Surathkal has permanent HODs, associate professors, and professors. The faculties are well experienced.
- Do not forget that more than professors, your hard work matters most.
Coding Culture:
- The coding culture is at par in both institutions.
- There have been participants at GSOC and other competitions. NIT Surathkal has nearby malls, pools, games, etc. for leisure.
Location:
- NSIT clearly wins at this as it is situated in Delhi. It has easy access to everything.
- However, NIT Surathkal has a beach too for relaxation.
Overall both the colleges are equally good. But NIT Surathkal has a clear edge over NSIT in various aspects.
What is admission procedure to get admission into DTU and NSIT?
NSUT and DTU are prestigious engineering colleges of Delhi. To get admission into any of them, you will have to clear the JEE Mains exam with a good All India rank.
After obtaining your rank and learning about the cutoffs for the year, you’ll have to fill out the JAC Delhi form. It is made available around the same time as the announcement of JEE Advanced. You’ll get a month to fill out the form. In the form, you’ll have to fill out your choice of colleges in the order of preference.
You’ll get the best option according to your rank, from among the colleges/branches you select. Fill out this form with utmost care. You’ll be allotted your college on the day of JAC Delhi counseling. It is important to note that NSUT, DTU and IIITD reserve 85% of their seats for students who complete their +2 from Delhi NCT, and only 15% seats are made available for outsiders.

Which is better, CSD at IIITD, ICE at NSIT, EE at DTU or IT at MAIT?
If you are interested in Computer Science and want to pursue MS/Ph.D. from universities abroad, after graduation, IIITD CSD is the best option for you. IIITD CSD placements are also pretty good. During the 2021 placement drive, the average CTC offered was INR 16.56 LPA.
If you find Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation and Control Engineering interesting and want to go for GATE/PSU/MTech, then choose the respective streams at DTU/NSIT. These branches aren’t usually open for most IT and coding-based jobs. For an MBA or a non-tech, career path, DTU or NSIT will be better as well.
Which is better for CS: the NSIT or DTU?
If you are looking for a better peer group, location, and placement opportunities, then NSIT CS will be a better option.
NSIT has a lower student intake. So, the competition is lower for placement and students get the required attention from faculties. For CS, NSIT placements are great. Each year, almost 80% of students get internships. NSIT CSE average package is around INR 12-15 LPA.
Which one to choose: NSIT's ICE (instrumentation and control eng) OR IIIT UNA CSE?
Firstly, you should know that IIIT UNA is a new college and although it has the IIIT tag, it hasn't been ranked by any esteemed Ranking platforms like NIRF. Its classes are also facilitated by NIT Hamirpur's faculty and the campus and faculty are nice.
As far as NSIT is concerned, it ranks #76 on the NIRF ranking portal for engineering and has a better location in Delhi than Hamirpur, because of the facilities and professional opportunities available.
Here are some more pointers to help you understand better -
- If your interest lies in the program rather than the institute, then go for CSE. Although first reflect on the placement scenario of IIIT UNA, whether they receive good companies or not; if the package is satisfactory, and if speedy placements are facilitated after the course is over.
- When you take a look at NSIT, then you should know that you'd be able to build a good career as a software engineer with the ICE program, but the management will be a little difficult because of the delicate balance between coursework and developing your programming skills.
- Most ICE alumni are now pursuing MBA or working other non-technical jobs. For non-tech, NSIT offers better opportunities.

What should I choose between DTU/NSUT EE and IIIT Pune CS?
Pursuing CSE from IIIT Pune will be a better option between DTU/NSUT EE and IIIT Pune CS.
Most of the students who complete B.Tech from non-technical streams get jobs in the IT sector. So it is better that you choose the stream in which you want to make a career. If you want to make your career in the Tech field then CSE from IIIT Pune will be a good option provided you have not planned to pursue EE yet. You can also pursue B.Tech in EE as there are lots of opportunities in it.
DTU, NSUT, and IIIT Pune are good institutes and have good placement records. You will surely get to learn a lot in either of the institutes and have fun 4 years at university.
