Which college should I choose, peripheral AIIMS or KGMU?

SD
Sagar Dikshit Posted On : September 26th, 2023
lives in Lucknow

One of my cousins got selected in both AIIMS Gorakhpur and KGMU. However, he chose KGMU because of the following reasons

  • KGMU is a state college.
  • It is one of the oldest colleges and has a legacy of more than 100 years.
  • It has a huge patient inflow
  • It’s most famous for its beautiful Infrastructure and lush green campus.
  • It’s the capital of UP so there are many location advantages too.

However, the only drawback is that you will have to serve the bond for 2 years.

AIIMS Gorakhpur on the other hand is a newly established institute so it will take time to grow.

Which AIIMS has best hostel life except AIIMS Delhi?

FY
Fayaz Yousuf Posted On : June 8th, 2023
MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences

Apart from AIIMS Delhi, AIIMS Bhopal has one of the most lively and comfortable hostel life. My brother is a resident there and shared his hostel life experience quite often.

  • There are no strict restrictions regarding the timings to enter and leave the hostel and students, especially boys, come back well past midnight.
  • The warden is very lenient and does not impose strict rules on the hostellers
  • A very strict rule followed by AIIMS Bhopal is the prohibition of AC installation
  • The common rooms are the best areas to binge-watch a cricket match with your friends.
  • Students of AIIMS Bhopal have enough privacy because of single rooms

The true essence of hostel life depends on the quality of friends you make and AIIMS Bhopal with its relaxed atmosphere is the perfect place to make friends for life!

Do all AIIMS provide single rooms like AIIMS Delhi?

DV
Deepika Verma Posted On : June 8th, 2023
Student at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (2017-present)

As far as I know, AIIMS Patna and AIIMS Jodhpur provide single rooms right from the first year. Other AIIMS either give single rooms to only girls in the first year or give single rooms from the 2nd year instead.

Most second-generation AIIMS offer double occupancy in the first year and single occupancy in the second year. As far as the 3rd generation AIMS is considered, AIIMS Raebareli provides single rooms. Other AIIMS provide shared rooms.

How can I crack the AIIMS Delhi in 8 months?

VM
Vedant Mishra Posted On : June 8th, 2023
MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi

Honestly saying 8 months is quite less forbAIIMS Delhi preparation as the NEET Syllabus is vast and at least 15-20 months need to be dedicated to its preparation. Nevertheless, here are a few tips that might help you achieve your goal.

Biology

  • Andhra Pradesh state biology textbook is even better than NCERT as it covers NCERT topics as well as additional topics in a single book so you don’t have to refer to other study material
  • Practice at least 100 MCQs everyday
  • Study every diagram in NCERT thoroughly
  • Practical manuals also have important info and should be considered
  • Make short notes that will help you retain your concepts and help you in revision.

Physics

  • Sri Chaitanya Physics and D C Pandey IIT JEE books are the best study material for Physics that cover 12th-class topics efficiently.
  • Also, refer to the notes you made during lectures as they are very helpful
  • Problem-solving can be done through Dinesh, DC Pandey, or Depothi series

Chemistry

  • His study material in the decreasing order of priority was lecture notes, state textbook, and Allen books
  • Complete assignments given by your coaching institutes.
  • Make notes and a competitive table for your own ease
  • Make a study group and divide the chapters equally for notes among them to save time

Lastly, always keep your company and mindset positive!

Is AIIMS Delhi safe for a female MBBS UG student?

KS
Kartikay Sinha Posted On : June 10th, 2023
Studies at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (2025)

I cannot comment on the safety of the city as a whole but the AIIMS Delhi campus is one of the safest campuses you will find here. The college is safe for both boys and girls and students roam inside or outside the campus the entire day and no problems have been caused.

Here, the female students are given a level of freedom to come and go as their will, and their privacy is maintained.

Located in South Delhi, the campus area is safer than other parts of the city as it’s one of the most sophisticated areas of Delhi. Additionally, famous colleges in close proximity like IIT Delhi, NIFT Delhi, VMMC, and DU colleges maintain the decorum of the area. Even the Indian Parliament and India Gate are located nearby which is one of the safest areas in the whole country.

The students don’t have to travel far as most facilities are available on the campus be it a parlor or anything. Malls, cafés, and clubs can be found in close vicinity of 1–2 km making it safe for the students to go out.

I think safety should never be a concern for female M.B.B.S. students here and you can rely on the institute's security.

How do I prepare for AIIMS Delhi in one year from scratch?

VM
Vedant Mishra Posted On : July 1st, 2023
MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi

Preparing for AIIMS Delhi from starch is a bit tiring as it is one of the most competitive fields. But once you get on the track, you will be one of the top 72 from India.

Timetable – You should have a good timetable and consistency. Make weekly and monthly targets, which will enhance your spirit. Equal weight should be given to every subject

Preparation - Study each and every topic, never neglect any topics based on the previous year's question papers. You should have strong determination and not fall for distractions

Study Materials Concentrate on NCERT and try to practice other guidebooks. Make short notes, which will sharpen your brain. Don’t indulge in too many books that may end in confusion. Revision is the key to remembering important points.

  • Biology – NCERT is enough for biology preparation; don’t try to mug up; rather, have a complete understanding of each topic. Almost 90% of the questions came from NCERT. So, stick to the text for preparation for biology
  • Chemistry – Chapters like thermodynamics, equilibrium, and electrochemistry must have the basics from the NCERT. You should have a thorough knowledge of organic and inorganic chemistry. Practice Macq’s from other books like MTG, which is beneficia.
  • Physics – Never neglect NCERT for the base; you can also refer to S. L. Arora, H. C. V., or DC Pandey for the concepts and practice previous year's question papers.
  • General Knowledge – Have social awareness and gain sufficient knowledge of current affairs

Start your preparation by keeping these points in mind.

SK
Sanjana Kapoor Posted On : September 28th, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

Yes, it is possible to get a seat for a postgraduate (PG) program at AIIMS Delhi, in radiology. But is highly competitive and typically requires candidates to meet specific eligibility criteria and pass an entrance examination. AIIMS Delhi generally admits candidates from across India, including those who have obtained their MBBS degrees from state medical colleges like PGIMS Rohtak or other institutions.

  • Eligibility: To be eligible for AIIMS PG courses, candidates are generally required to have a recognized MBBS degree from a university recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or the National Medical Commission (NMC).
  • Entrance Examination: Admission to AIIMS PG courses, including radiology, is primarily based on performance in the AIIMS PG Entrance Examination (AIIMS PGEE). AIIMS conducts an entrance exam every 6 months for entry into its MD, MS courses. You can regularly visit the Collegedunia website or exam portal of AIIMS to check for all the details regarding exam pattern, eligibility, seat distribution, registration for the exam, and other details.
  • Reservation: Although internal applicants (those who pursued their MBBS at AIIMS) typically receive 50% of the PG seats at AIIMS, outsider candidates do have a chance.
  • Counselling Process: Successful candidates in the AIIMS PGEE are called for counselling, where you can select your desired specialty and institute based on their rank and availability of seats.
