I have to choose between CSE (preferred branch) at MIT Manipal and chemical engineering at NIT Surathkal or BITS Pilani - Goa campus (preferred colleges). What should I choose?
The best option for you is to take up an M.Sc. degree at the BITS Pilani Goa campus. The M.Sc. degrees that are offered are Maths, Physics, Economics, Biology, and Chemistry.

The reason Trichy should be your last option is because it does not permit students to go for Internship which in turn results in no PPOs. One of my friends got ousted from M.Tech in NIT Surathkal due to poor marks in the beginning semester. In the next year, he got into NIT Trichy and successfully secured a PSU job in placement. On the other hand, there were several students from that batch of NIT Surathkal who remained unemployed.
In the batch of 2012-14, about 29 students from M.Tech were unplaced in NIT Surathkal. Even the training and placement cell and the department did not care about the failure of so many students.
There are students from NIT Surathkal who are still struggling with odd jobs in hand, and some are even unable to settle in life.
So, if you have to choose between NIT Surathkal and NIT Trichy, prefer NIT Trichy. You will get better placement and opportunities at NIT Trichy as compared to NIT Surathkal.
Where should I enroll, NIT Surathkal (mining engineering) or PES University (computer science)?
There is no clear winner in this comparison. If you are interested in Mining Engineering and want to learn fundamental and core technicalities, then NIT Surathkal will be better. As an institute, NITK is better than other engineering colleges in Karnataka. It offers better academics, exposure, facilities, and campus life. For Mining, NIT Surtahkal placements are great. Coal India visits NITK for recruiting students. The average CTC received by the students of this bench is INR 5-6 LPA.
But if you aren’t particularly interested in Mining Engineering, then you should choose CSE at PES University. In the current industry landscape, CSE offers better placements with cushy salary packages.
Which one should I choose, NSIT CSE or NIT Surathkal IT branch or MNNIT Allahabad CSE knowing that I stay in Delhi?
NSIT CSE is the better choice than NIT Surathkal IT and MNNIT Allahabad CSE. This is because it's located in the capital city which is a hub of budding startups and companies. Delhi also has excellent coaching institutes for preparation for CAT, coding, and GATE. The institute, therefore, offers better opportunities for development and learning. Additionally, the capital city has many places to explore so you can have a fun off-campus life too.
NIT Surathkal on the other hand is away from the hustle and bustle of the metro city so if you prefer a peaceful college experience then choose NIT Surathkal.
So, if you want to stay in the capital and experience a dynamic life, choose IIIT Delhi or NSIT else go for NIT Surathkal.

However, CMA students have several benefits which are as follows:
- The course structure of CMA is similar to GATE CSE. So you can work on placement preparation from the beginning of the enrolment.
- There are several companies that visit NIT Surathkal for campus placement, offering the highest package up to INR 49 LPA.
- Most of the companies also look for CMA candidates, so you can get a decent placement. But also, not many companies offer a good package to CMA students.
Therefore, the placement of an M.Tech in computational mathematics at NIT Surathkal is pretty good. If you are thinking of joining NIT Surathkal then you must go for it.
What is the cutoff at NIT Surathkal for an MBA course?
NIT Surathkal offers candidates a full-time 2-year MBA program the total fee of which is INR 2.5 lakhs. To be eligible for this program, you must have completed your bachelor's with at least 50% marks or 5.5 CGPA from any recognized university. Additionally, you will have to appear for CAT, MAT, and XAT. The institute does not release the exact MBA cutoff but here is a vague idea for you

However, I am strongly against you joining this institute as its MBA program has no value. Go to a full time-dedicated MBA B-school, and not a department of any Government college. It will help you save money and time.
