Why should one pursue a data analytics course from IIM Rohtak?
Data Analytics will be the next wave in the era of IT. There is a shortage of professionals who can manage this data which can be used to make effective decisions.

Is it worthwhile doing an FPM course at the IIM in Rohtak
The answer to this question is subjective as it depends solely on your career inclinations, your purpose of pursuing FPM, and what you plan to do after it. It is best suitable
- If you want to pursue research in management
- If you want to enter academics and pursue a career in teaching/research faculty
For the above two cases, the FPM course is the best option. Despite being a new course, it is taught by the best faculty and through excellent pedagogy. This course equals a Ph.D. and can open doors to teaching at IIMs. The job is decent with high pay. All you need to do is invest your time and effort in the course.
The only drawback of this course is that there are no placement opportunities for FPM students.
Which one should I choose between Thapar COE and IIM Rohtak IPM?
One of my friends was selected for the 2018–22 batch of Mechanical engineering. However, she was not very inclined towards joining it. Mainly because she was not very passionate about Engineering.
I will suggest you join TIET only if you are an avid fan of Engineering and are considering it seriously as a career option. But I personally feel that IIM is a better option if you aren’t sure about Engineering. The IIM tag offers enough credibility to make it a worthwhile course.
My friend's marks were not very good so she could not understand how she had made it into TIET. This altered her decision to pursue engineering. She further told me that the curriculum and campus life at IIM Rohtak were not as substandard as it is rumored to be. So it’s high time you conduct thorough research because this decision is the turning point of your life.
Will the new upcoming IIMs like (Rohtak, Ranchi, Trichy) overtake the SPJIMR in a few years?
Except for IIM Rohtak, the new upcoming IIMs like Trichy and Ranchi face tough competition with SP Jain. They are almost in the same league based on certain parameters and are bound to overtake SP Jain in the future. Let’s discuss some of these parameters
- Students profile: IIM Trichy takes in students with a slightly higher CAT score than SP Jain thereby the quality of the batch is better.
- Faculty: The faculty of IIM Trichy is comparable with SP Jain in many areas.
- Placements: Although the placements at SP Jain are better than these new IIMs, they have been stagnant for the past few years. Moreover, the placements at IIM Trichy and Ranchi are getting better every year.
- Growth potential: SP Jain has a decent growth potential but not more than the new IIMs. Their potential looks more promising.
- Alumni base: SP Jain has an upper hand in this aspect due to its early establishment.
- Location: SP Jain is at a better location than the new IIMs and they might suffer because of this. Yet some consider the city of Trichy not too far away from Mumbai and the disadvantage does not seem that huge.
All in all, there are high chances of the new IIMs taking over SP Jain anytime in the near future.
Should I join IIM Rohtak IPM?
The IPM program of IIM Rohtak is not at par with the PGP program and therefore I will suggest that you should go for it only if you have no better options. The reasons why I am against this program so much are
- It is one of the most expensive Undergraduate courses in India and the final placements are not worth the huge fees.
- The course is relatively new so they are still experimenting with the curriculum and pedagogy decreasing its credibility.
- Despite stretching over 200 Acres, the IIM Rohtak’s campus is partially not completed.
- The ROI is extremely low
- There is no mess facility adding to the already extravagant fees of the institute.
- The faculty is below average. To compensate for this they hold guest lectures.
Considering all the above points, I will recommend you to take up an Undergraduate course from any college and then go for an MBA from a top B School. By doing IPM you merely will be wasting 5 years and over 30 Lakhs.
Are vehicles allowed in IIM Rohtak and Indore for IPM students?
IIM Rohtak is a green campus that prioritises environmental safety, and students are not permitted to use vehicles on campus.
During COVID times, IIM Indore restricted the ability of IPM students to commute or even bring vehicles to the campus. Cycles may be permitted depending on the college, but they are currently uncommon at IIM Rohtak.
What do I choose: IIM Rohtak or IIM Trichy?
You should apply to IIM Trichy. They are more accurate, the staff there is excellent, and you take the two-year program well-prepared for a career that moves at a remarkable rate. Your case will also benefit greatly from your increased ability to handle work-related tasks.
IIM Trichy's faculty is among the best in India. They have extensive experience and are experts in their respective fields. A lot of emphasis is placed on practical knowledge. Education is conducted using case studies, group projects, and oral presentations. Industry exposure is greatly enhanced by the guest lectures of subject-matter experts. Overall, a very good faculty group.
The highest and average packages offered during the 2022 placement drive, according to the final IIM Trichy placement report, were INR 34 LPA and INR 17.01 LPA, respectively.
What should be the order of choice for new IIMs, i.e. Ranchi, Trichy, Udaipur, Kashipur, Rohtak and Raipur?
Your choice of college depends on your personal preferences and interests. One college might be suitable for you but not for others. So your question is subjective and cannot be answered directly.
Every individual ranks a college depending on his own perspective and goals.
I think the best way is to contact students or pass-outs from respective colleges, collect data and then make a decision based on your research and then your preference. You can also look up the official websites of the college to collect relevant data. Find out the parameters that matter to you the most in your choice of college. Some include placements, diversity, location, batch strength, or faculty. Do your part of the research and then choose the college that fulfills the maximum boxes in your priority list.
Which is a better option, IPM from IIM Rohtak or BMS from Shaheed Sukhdev?
Having some of my friends study in both colleges, I can say that enrolling in Shaheed Sukhdev for BMS would be much more apt than that of IIM Rohtak for IPM. Both the colleges hold their places enormously but Shaheed Sukhdev will be better due to their overall educational experience.
There are several reasons for choosing it, some are:
- BMS as compared to IPM is a much older course.
- The placement of Shaheed Sukhdev reached heights due to their BMS course.
- The highest package offered to the students of Sukhdev College was around 18 LPA (latest).
- You can also get a chance to do your MBA from some other top IIMs in the country later on in life.
- Moreover, IPM Rohtak would be taking in its second batch, and hence no point in talking about placements.

It is suggested that you choose BMS over IPM. Though, both have their pros and cons but opting for BMS is worth more than IPM. Also, Sukhdev has a great market reputation and placement record. After all, it’s your decision that matters. Think appropriately for yourself. Good Luck.
