What is the average package of B.Tech computer science at BIT Mesra?
During the 2022 placements at BIT Mesra, the average package for B.E. CSE stood at INR 19.27 LPA. The median package stood at INR 16 LPA and the lowest package stood at INR 4 LPA. 113 students from the CSE branch were placed, out of 124 eligible students.
The figures were equally promising for the IT branch with the average package recorded at INR 20.58 LPA. Out of 59 eligible students from IT, 56 were placed. The top recruiters during the 2022 placements were Amdocs, BYJU’S, Cognizant, Daffodil Software, EY, Ericsson, Future First, Tech Mahindra, and Wipro, among others.
Thus, the average package for B.E. CSE and IT at BIT Mesra stood at 19-20 LPA during the placements last year. This is quite a promising figure.
Is there any fee discount for SC/ST in BIT Mesra for B.Tech?
There is no fee discount offered exclusively to SC/ST candidates of B.E. at BIT Mesra. However, you may get some discount on the first-semester fee, which is available for students of all castes and depends upon their ranks.
BIT Mesra and its other branches (Ranchi, Patna, Deoghar, and Jaipur) do offer scholarships to students based on their GPA and their performance each semester.
To become eligible for the scholarship, you have to score more than or equal to 8 GPA in your semesters. The scholarship is not caste-based and is open to every deserving student. With the benefit of this scholarship, if you perform well in a semester, some percentage of your fee will be credited back into your bank account. This is the scholarship criteria-
- 8 GPA - 20% scholarship
- 8.5 GPA - 50% scholarship
- 9 GPA - 75% scholarship
- 9.5 GPA - 100% scholarship (you won’t be charged for your hostel and mess. All the money paid by you will be credited to your bank account)
Thus, students of all social backgrounds can avail the benefit of fee deduction if they score very good grades during each semester of their B.E. at BIT Mesra and its other campuses through this scholarship system.
Which is better, Thapar CSE or BIT Mesra ECE?
You should choose BIT Mesra ECE. It has a better brand value. It will be easier to get good opportunities in terms of placements and higher education.
BIT Mesra placements are excellent. Each year almost 85% of students get placed in ECE branch. The average CTC offered to the students of ECE ranges between INR 5 -10 LPA.
Is BIT Mesra better than IEM, kolkata?

The only upper hand that IEM enjoys is the scores of CGPA a student obtains. That means, acquiring the best CGPA at IEM is quite a lot easier than what is at BIT. The second point of difference between the two of them is that IEM, when considered its location, is situated in Salt Lake, Kolkata, and is much better developed than Mesra, which in total is 16 KMs from Ranchi. These are the only points of difference as known.
Which is better: CS in BIT Mesra or CS in MANIT Bhopal?
If you compare them in terms of placement, infrastructure, ambiance, and alumni network BIT Mesra has an upper hand over MANIT Bhopal.
Being a 60 years old institute, BIT has an alumni network spread globally at Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Amazon. One of the alumni even won Oscars recently for the best-animated movie.
BIT has great records in ICPC contests. The campus is amazing. Seniors are very helpful. The campus is ragging-free and poses an amazing infrastructure. IET, IEEE, ACM conducts various free workshops to enhance the skills of students.
MANIT Bhopal has an edge over BIT Mesra in terms of tuition fees. NITs are even regarded highly in terms of their brand name. This is the reason why BIT has a higher cutoff compared to NITs.

If you plan for higher studies and if the brand name bothers you, opt NIT Bhopal. Or else BIT Mesra is better in most of the parameters.

Is BIT Mesra's fee structure similar to a NIT's fee structure?
BIT Mesra's fee structure in 2023 is nowhere comparable to that of NIT. BIT is a private engineering college and obviously charges higher fees than a government college like NIT.

Additionally, the amount to be paid at the time of admission is INR 82700. The Hostel Fees are extra and payable during registration for each semester
The fees for NITs are quite less compared to BIT Mesra. For instance, NIT Trichy's first-semester fee is only Rs. 62,500.
Is there a lateral entry in BIT Mesra?
No, there is no option of lateral entry in BIT Mesra, especially for engineering. For other branches, there may be depending on their selection criteria.
BIT Mesra admits students in its B.Tech/BE (Engineering) programs through JEE-MAIN-CSAB route. There may be some special spot round of admission through CSAB, but they do not conduct any lateral entry procedure of their own. Even if there is any number of seats that lay vacant (which usually is the case), they don’t conduct a lateral entry of their own.
So, in a nutshell, study hard for your JEE MAIN if you want to get into the BIT Mesra B.Tech/BE program, as this the only route of entry into the institute.
Which is better: NIT KKR CSE or BIT Mesra CSE?
In terms of placements, environment, alumni network and infrastructure, BIT Mesra is a much better choice than NIT KKR. BIT Mesra is quite an old institution and its alumni are spread across continents. One of its alumni won an Oscar for his work in an animation movie a few years back. BIT alumni hold good positions in top IT brands like Facebook, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, among others.The placements at BIT are quite good with the average package for B.Tech CSE recorded at INR 19.27 LPA for 2022. Many CSE/IT students receive multiple offers during placements. Last year, 113 CSE students were placed out of a total of 124 eligible students. Top IT and non-IT brands visit the BIT Mesra campus for placements.
BIT Mesra students perform well in ICPC and GSoC. The coding club ACM organizes a weekly coding contest within the campus. BIT has been a national winner in several coding contests like- Goldman Sachs’s “We Build” coding contest(BIT was a winner in all the three formats), Smart India Hackathon, etc.
The tech clubs over there like IET, IEEE conduct free workshops regularly to improve the technical skills of the students.The senior-junior interaction is very healthy at BIT Mesra and there is no ragging on campus.The cutoff for BIT Mesra is not that high because its fees is much higher than the NITs and it does not carry the ‘NIT’ or ‘IIT’ tag
Unless you want the NIT tag for your higher studies, you should choose BIT Mesra over NIT KKR for your CSE. The former will help you in developing your skills and you will get better placement opportunities at BIT Mesra.
