Minimum Percentile Cut-off Score Required for PI

Category Quant VARC DILR
General / EWS 75 75 75
NC-OBC 67.5 67.5 67.5
SC 50 50 50
ST 50 50 50
PWD 50 50 50

Composite Score Required for Shortlisting for PI

Candidates will be shortlisted for the PI process based on their composite scores. The weightage of the composite score is tabulated below.

Parameter Weightage
Performance in CAT 2024 (on Overall Scaled Score) 70%CAT score = (Candidate’s CAT scaled score/198) *70
12th 5%
Graduation 5%
Gender Diversity 10% *
Post Graduate/Professionals 5% **
Work Experience 5%

Note: * 10% weightage will be awarded to female candidates. ** 3% weightage will be awarded to post-graduates and 5% weightage will be awarded to professionals.

Class XII or Equivalent (5%)

The score awarded to the candidates will depend on their streams (Science, Commerce, Arts, and Humanities) and will be calculated based on the formula below.

Science

Marks Obtained (in %) Formula Used
<=65 0
>65 (x-65) *5/35

Commerce

Marks Obtained (in %) Formula Used
<=60 0
>60 (x-60) *5/40

Arts and Humanities

Marks Obtained (in %) Formula Used
<=55 0
>55 (x-55) *5/45

Note: x is the percentage of marks obtained in Class XII or Equivalent exam rounded off to 2 decimal places.

Marks in all the subjects that appear on the marksheet of the Class XII or Equivalent exam must be considered to arrive at the final percentage irrespective of whether the board considers them to compute the final percentages or not.

Based on the score obtained by the candidate and the maximum possible score (for both percentage marks and CGPA/CPI), the equivalent percentage of marks will be derived as (Obtained score/ Maximum possible score) *100, irrespective of the formula followed by the respective universities/boards/institutions for the conversion.

For candidates with a 3-year Diploma instead of a 12th, the three-year average of their Diploma score will be considered for calculating the 12th component.

Graduation degree (5%)

The score will be awarded to the candidates based on the marks obtained in the Graduation Programme and based on the discipline of their course. The graduates are broadly divided into 3 categories and the score awarded will be calculated based on the below-mentioned formulae.

Engineering, Basic Science, and Commerce

Marks Obtained (in %) Formula Used
<=65 0
>65 and <=85 (x-65) *5/20
>85 5

Professional Degree (CA, CS, CFA, ICWA, FRM)

Marks Obtained (in %) Formula Used
<=55 0
>55 and <=70 (x-55) *5/15
>70 5

Medicine and Arts

Marks Obtained (in %) Formula Used
<=55 0
>55 and <=75 (x-55) *5/20
>75 5

Note:

x is the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation programme rounded off to 2 decimal places.

If a candidate has an integrated master’s degree or dual degree after their 12th standard or equivalent, the university/institute norms for calculating the equivalent bachelor’s degree percentage would be considered for the calculation of their graduation percentage scores.

If any Institution/University awards only grades without providing an equivalent percentage of marks on the grade sheet, the applicant needs to obtain a certificate from the Institution/ University specifying the equivalent marks which needs to be submitted at the time of the interview if the applicant gets shortlisted.

Based on the obtained score and maximum possible score (for both percentage marks and CGPA/CPI), equivalent percentage of marks will be derived as (Obtained score/ Maximum possible score) *100, irrespective of the formula followed by the respective universities/ institutions for the conversion.

For a University/Institution that awards marks in terms of percentages, Overall average of marks secured in all years or whose scores are available will be used to arrive at the final percentage as shown below.

Example of Overall Average Calculation:

1st year – Max marks 500 – Obtained marks 460

2nd year – Max marks 400 – Obtained marks 330

3rd year – Max marks 450 – Obtained marks 380

Overall average will be = (460+330+380) / (500+400+450) * 100 = 86.66%
