New Delhi: The Department of Geography of Lovely Professional University's School of Liberal and Creative Arts has conducted the 7th edition of its collaborative international conference with the National Association of Geographers of India (NAGI).

As per LPU, the two-day conference centered around the theme of "Clean Water, Good Health, and Sustainable Cities & Communities (CWGHSCC)”. Distinguished speakers, numbering over 25 from both international and national domains participated in various sessions.

The conference aimed to deliberate on Earth's challenges and dilemmas, seeking solutions to embody the concept of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam." LPU Pro Chancellor Rashmi Mittal presided over the conference and extended congratulations to the organisers and participants for their collective efforts to inspire global sustainability.

She highlighted that achieving this goal necessitates suitable consultation among all stakeholders from both developed and developing economies. Prof. B. Dr Ali Aldosaari joined as a keynote speaker and President of the Saudi Geographical Society at King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He emphasised the importance of urban agriculture in ensuring sustainable development, particularly in addressing food security concerns.

He highlighted its potential for significantly addressing the challenges related to food security and land use disruptions caused by urbanisation, which often result in considerable harm to agricultural land in the region.

The conference conveyed the significance of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aim to establish a harmonious world characterised by peace, prosperity, and the elimination of critical issues such as poverty, hunger, equity, and good governance while also prioritising Earth conservation.

Sustainable development entails the responsible development of cities, land, businesses, and communities to fulfil present requirements without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. These objectives strive to enhance living standards for all while safeguarding natural resources from depletion.
