Course Curriculum

10

  • The course is very updated and aligned with the accounting software currently in use, such as Zero,Myob,SAP and the updated laws supporting them.
  • Yes i was given industrial exposure through various events, as people from industry frequently meet at university events and share the experiences. Moreover, events are organised to give the experience of the offices of various accounting industries, such as ca firms, banks, etc., to know what a daily operation looks like and how it feels to be part of the industry and various offices. Tours to connect with people and build networking.
  • Typically there are two classes in a day, generally 2 hours each but it also depends on the course you opted for me,in my case it was generally 2 subjects per day and four days of classes and sometimes five days per week, but that is very rare.
  • The average number of students in my class were 95 with a majority of international students and it was the highest in comparison to previous batches, where the total strength was around 50.

Admission Experience

  • For my particular study and research papers, the University of Waikato is one of the top universities. Their courses are better structured and defined than most universities, as you have prior access to all the details: what you will learn from this course, what the subjects are, what the duration of each paper is and what roles we will be eligible for after the completion of the course. The student services are well structured, as one gets easily contacted through university mail and doesn't have to wait long enough to hear their replies and suggestions.
  • The process of the offer letter is quite simple, as every step is provided in the website and the FAQs help a lot, as does their landline number if you have any doubt. They had made the admission process quite simple.
  • The requirements were of English proficiency and i have done IELTS in which I scored 7.5 bands. Also, they require some graduate degree in any field, as it is a postgraduate course. I have done a Bachelor of Commerce with a score of 77%, which helped me to avail the scholarship.

Faculty

10

  • There is generally one lecturer and one assistant lecturer. The main lecturer delivers the lectures and there are around four tutors for a class of 95 students to help them with studies or take extra sessions for homework. They are very friendly and approachable but the best way to get connected is through mail, and it can be informal mail.
  • For me, Mary low has been the best lecturer, even though the others were quite up to that mark, as she was very open to ideas and problems faced by students. She provided special attention to students who were not good academically so that they could catch up with others and can get good marks.

Campus Life

10

  • University provides a lot of extracurricular activities like movie nights, lots of free food stalls during the year ,holi party , induction and farewell parties, and more events during the year like fire shows, painting and mental well-being events and there are various clubs related to different activities, like one for organising activities, a cultural group, and different sports groups.
  • I am a member of BAP waikato group which for people studying finance and accounting and help them to connect with professionals and many other events supporting studies.

Part Time Jobs

  • There are very few opportunities for part-time jobs, as the employers generally need staff that can work full time and be flexible with the days but it is not so with the students, as they have face-to-face lecturers.
  • Networking is very important to land a job. Most of the jobs are secured through references. The maximum hours a student can work is 20 hours per week. It is easy to get teaching assistant jobs after the completion of study or if someone is studying a postgraduate course.

Placement

10

  • Jobs after graduation are quite easy to secure. Students can use seek, university portals or direct websites of companies to apply.
  • I think everyone lands into a job after two or three months of graduation. The general pay after graduation is the median wage, which is 34 dollars per hour.

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • I find accommodations through Facebook or websites like lodge ,waikato rentals. The average rent of one person is around 200 dollars in which room is private and everything else is shared, but you don't have to pay anything extra for electricity, internet or utilities and if you opted for a private accommodation where everything is personal, it is generally 300 dollars and everything included.

Exams

  • There is only a requirement for English proficiency, which can be ielts or PTE, and a minimum score of around 5.5 to 6.5 depending on the course.
  • The other requirements are a statement of purpose so that they can connect with you and know why you are interested in doing a particular course and all your academic documents to support your prior studies.

Fees

  • The tuition fee is around 55000 dollars for a one-year master's programme, and to approximately convert it into inr we can multiply by 50.
