Landshut University of Applied Sciences Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027

Indian applicants must clear four core requirements: an academic threshold, a language test, APS certification and a uni-assist grade equivalence.

PG Requirements at HAW Landshut

  • Bachelor’s degree: 65% or CGPA 6.5/10 (recommended), equivalent to German grade 2.5 or better, with 180 ECTS minimum
  • English proficiency: IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL iBT 95 for C1 level (as per HAW Landshut)
  • APS certificate: Mandatory for all Indian applicants, INR 18,000 fee
  • Subject prerequisites: 45 ECTS in business administration required for MA Global Management

UG Requirements at HAW Landshut

  • Class 12 academic: 70% to 85% with PCM subjects (recommended); one-year Studienkolleg or 1 year of undergraduate study in India may be required
  • English proficiency: IELTS 5.5 to 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 72 for B2 level (as per HAW Landshut)
  • APS certificate: Required before uni-assist submission

Key insight: Global Management waives the IELTS or TOEFL requirement for Indian graduates of Bachelor’s programmes taught entirely in English. Request a Medium of Instruction certificate from your Indian university to claim this exemption.

Landshut University of Applied Sciences Acceptance Rate 2027

HAW Landshut does not publish an institutional acceptance rate. However, the university confirms that 90.4% of its programmes are open admission with no numerus clausus, giving Indian applicants an estimated acceptance rate of 80% to 90% (estimated) for eligible candidates who meet APS and language requirements.

The remaining 9.6% of programmes apply grade-based selection, primarily in Social Work and select Health Communication tracks. This makes HAW Landshut one of the more accessible Bavarian applied-sciences universities for Indian applicants meeting the basic entry bar.

Reality check: The estimated rate reflects programmes open to eligible applicants, not everyone who applies. Missing APS certification, failing the language cut-off or submitting after 15 July results in rejection regardless of academic profile.

What Indian students say: The campus feels tight-knit and lecturers are approachable, unlike large state universities. The Landshut Indian Students Association organises Diwali events and helps new arrivals with residence registration.

Weekend Munich trips take 45 minutes by regional train, giving students affordable Landshut rent with easy access to a major German city for career fairs and social outings.

Landshut University of Applied Sciences Rankings 2027

As a Bavarian Fachhochschule focused on applied teaching and industry links, HAW Landshut does not feature in the major world university rankings, which primarily measure research output. Its recognition comes through German applied-sciences rankings, notably the CHE Ranking.

Ranking BodyLatest EditionNotes
QS WorldNot ranked in QS World 2027QS excludes most German universities of applied sciences
THE WorldNot ranked in THE World 2026THE ranks research universities; HAW Landshut is teaching-focused
US News GlobalNot ranked in US News 2026-2027Applied sciences universities excluded
ARWU ShanghaiNot ranked in ARWU 2026Research-output metric excludes Fachhochschulen

[Source: QS, THE, US News, ARWU]

The absence from global tables is standard for German applied-sciences universities and does not reflect programme quality. HAW Landshut is government-accredited, degrees are recognised across the EU, and the university is listed in the Anabin H+ database used by Indian recruiters and MEA for degree verification.

Key insight: For Indian students, HAW Landshut degrees carry full recognition for MEA attestation, WES evaluation and the German 18-month post-study work visa. Employer recognition in Germany is strong for the university’s engineering and business tracks despite the lack of QS or THE rankings.

Landshut University of Applied Sciences Placements and Career Outcomes 2027

HAW Landshut does not publish a central placement report. Career outcomes are strong within Bavaria, driven by the university’s industry-integrated project semesters and mandatory internships.

  • Median starting salary (market median): EUR 45,000 to EUR 52,000 per year for engineering Master’s; EUR 42,000 to EUR 48,000 for business Master’s (INR 49.09 lakh to 56.73 lakh)
  • Top sectors: Automotive and mechanical engineering, industrial IT, sustainability consulting, banking and finance (representative sectors, not disclosed as recruiter list)
  • Regional employers: BMW, Audi, Wacker Chemie, Siemens and Mittelstand SMEs across Lower Bavaria hire regularly through HAW Landshut’s career service and industry fairs
  • Post-study work visa: Indian graduates qualify for the 18-month Germany job-seeker visa, with the EU Blue Card available above EUR 45,300 annual salary
  • Career support: Dedicated career service, on-campus recruitment fair each May, and access to the Bavarian Science Forum industry network

Insider note: The mandatory 20-week practical semester in the 5th semester of Bachelor’s programmes doubles as a hiring pipeline. Roughly 40% of Indian SIOB graduates convert their practical placement into a full-time offer at automotive tier-1 suppliers around Munich.

Landshut University of Applied Sciences vs Peer Universities

HAW Landshut is compared against other Bavarian Fachhochschulen that Indian students frequently shortlist for tuition-free engineering and business Master’s.

UniversityQS Rank 2027Avg Annual Contribution (INR)One-line differentiator
HAW LandshutNot rankedINR 0.27 lakh (contribution only)Small campus, 90.4% open admission, low-cost Bavarian town
Munich University of Applied Sciences (HM)Not rankedINR 0.27 lakh (contribution only)Large city hub, wider English-taught catalogue, Munich rent higher
Deggendorf Institute of Technology (THD)Not rankedINR 0.27 lakh (contribution only)Broadest English-taught Master’s range in Lower Bavaria
OTH RegensburgNot rankedINR 0.27 lakh (contribution only)Historic city, stronger EE and IT industry links
Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI)Not rankedINR 0.27 lakh (contribution only)Automotive research base (Audi HQ nearby), competitive admission

HAW Landshut stands out for its small class sizes and 90.4% open-admission share, which offers Indian students a higher acceptance probability than THI or HM. Its trade-off is a narrower English-taught catalogue than Deggendorf.

Key insight: If you want tuition-free German study with the highest odds of admission and the lowest living costs, HAW Landshut beats Munich. If you want more programme choice in English, Deggendorf offers a wider slate.

HAW Landshut suits Indian students seeking a tuition-free Bavarian applied-sciences degree with a total 2-year Master’s investment of INR 22 lakh to 27 lakh against a median starting salary of INR 49 lakh to 57 lakh. The 18-month post-study Germany job-seeker visa and Anabin H+ recognition close a strong ROI case.

The university is not the right fit for research-focused students seeking a QS-ranked institution, or applicants who need a wide English-taught PhD catalogue. Those profiles should consider research universities in Germany such as TU Munich or RWTH Aachen instead.

Ans. HAW Landshut offers four fully English-taught programmes: the BEng Sustainable Industrial Operations and Business (7 semesters, winter intake), MA Global Management (4 semesters, winter intake), MA International Business Administration (3 semesters, summer intake) and the part-time MBA/MEng Process Management and Resource Efficiency starting 2026/27. Ques. Can Indian students work part-time while studying at HAW Landshut?

Ans. Yes, Indian students on a German student visa can work 140 full days or 280 half days per year, as per German Federal Employment Agency rules. Landshut offers part-time roles at BMW, Audi and local Mittelstand firms paying EUR 12 to 15 per hour. Working during semester breaks does not count against the 140-day cap for structured internships.

Ques. Does HAW Landshut waive IELTS for Indian applicants?

Ans. The MA Global Management waives IELTS or TOEFL for graduates of Indian Bachelor’s programmes taught entirely in English, subject to a Medium of Instruction certificate from the awarding university. Other Master’s and the BEng SIOB do not offer this waiver and require IELTS 7.0 (C1) for PG or IELTS 5.5 to 6.0 (B2) for UG.

Ques. Is APS certification mandatory before applying to HAW Landshut?

Ans. Yes, APS certification from the German Embassy in New Delhi is mandatory for all Indian applicants across UG and PG programmes. The APS fee is INR 18,000 and processing takes 4 to 8 weeks. Book your APS interview at least three months before the target application deadline to avoid missing the 15 July winter cut-off.

Ques. What are the visa financial proof requirements for Landshut University of Applied Sciences?

Ans. Indian students must show blocked account funds of EUR 11,904 (INR 12.98 lakh) per year as per the German Foreign Office 2026 threshold. Approved providers include Fintiba, Expatrio and Coracle. The blocked account releases EUR 992 monthly to your German account after arrival to cover Landshut living costs.

Ques. Is the HAW Landshut degree recognised by Indian employers and WES?

Ans. Yes, HAW Landshut is listed in the Anabin H+ database used by MEA and Indian recruiters, making its degrees eligible for MEA attestation and WES evaluation. Indian IT services firms, banks and consulting recruiters recognise the university’s Master’s degrees. The degree also qualifies for the EU Blue Card and 18-month German job-seeker visa.

Ques. Which Indian education loan providers cover HAW Landshut fees and living costs?

Ans. State Bank of India, HDFC Credila, Avanse and Auxilo cover HAW Landshut expenses under their Germany loan products, typically up to INR 40 lakh unsecured. Since tuition is zero, loan amounts primarily fund the blocked account, living costs and travel. Some lenders require the blocked account receipt as collateral proof before disbursal.

Ques. Does HAW Landshut offer PhD programmes to Indian graduates?

Ans. Yes, since 2024 HAW Landshut has direct doctoral rights through three graduate centres: DigiTech, DIWAG and NITRO. Cooperative PhDs are also available via the Bavarian Science Forum (BayWiss) partnership. Indian applicants should contact graduate-center@haw-landshut.de with a research proposal and Master’s transcripts to initiate the direct PhD application process.
