Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences admission is highly competitive due to the limited space, thus applicants with better grades stand a higher chance of getting admitted into the school. The school population consists of 13% of international students. Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences also known as HsKA. Students are offered with classic and specialized 22 bachelors and 21 masters programs at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences in the areas of engineering, computer science and business information systems, information management and media, management science and engineering, construction, computer sciences, business sciences, and media.

Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences conducts the admission independently without the assistance of any agency or centralized application institution. Since there is a fixed mark-based entrance condition, only outstanding applicants are admitted into the Master's programs. The language of instructions for all bachelor's degree programs is German. Thus, very good knowledge of German language is required evidenced by an appropriate certificate. International applicants must include a translated copy of the transcript either in German or in English translated by a professional translator and scores of the exams to study in Germany. Presently, lectures and coursework are conducted online due to the Corona pandemic. Activities on campus are allowed to a permissible extent as long as the WHO hygiene and safe practices are upheld.

International students applying for bachelor’s program are advised to contact ASK as soon as possible for their ASK certificate which is one of the supporting documents needed during admission processing

Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences International Students Admissions

International students are offered admission to the school if they meet all the requirements. Admission decisions for a bachelor's degree program are sent to the applicants two or three days after the application deadline is closed (15 January, 15 July) while that of the master’s program is about one week after the application deadline. However, International applicants are asked to exercise patience as there could be delays in sending their admission decision letters due to the national postal system.

Admission Requirements: To be considered for admission, International students are required to present the following:

Language Proficiency for International Students

Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences requires applicants to present evidence of German language proficiency. Following are the accepted exams to study in Germany:

Steps and information on Visa acquisition

After the receipt of the offer of admission, the following steps must be taken:

  • Students are advised to apply for a visa at the German embassy or consulate in the applicant's country
  • Since the German student visa are usually valid for only three months after a student arrives in the country, students are advised to renew it as soon as possible
  • Students are advised to register for a health insurance scheme as without this, an applicant cannot be registered as a students
  • Since the entire visa application process is time-consuming, applicants are advised to apply early to allow sufficient time to acquire all the requirements for visa application and subsequent admission
  • Cost for a Germany visa is around 80 Euros

Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences offers undergraduate programs in six different faculties which are faculty of architecture & civil engineering, faculty of electrical engineering & information technology, faculty of computer science & business information systems, faculty of information management and media, faculty of mechanical engineering & mechatronics and the faculty of management science & engineering. While some courses in these faculties start in both winter and summer sections, some courses start only in one (winter or summer). All bachelors' courses are offered in the German language

Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences Graduate Applicants

Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences offers about 21 master’s programs in the field of engineering, computer science & business information systems, information management & media, and management science. Admission into a master's degree program is on a fixed mark-based entrance condition. Applicants need to have a minimum GPA of 2.5 in 4.0 (~80%) or prove that he/she graduated among the top 35% of his/her undergraduate class. Applications for a master’s program in Sensor Systems Technology, Geomatics, and Global Studies (Tricontinental) require an English language proficiency certificate instead of a German language certificate.

With limited space and an increased number of applicants per year, the chances of getting admission get slimmer. Most often than not, applicants with excellent academic achievements and work experience are given the offer of admission. International students interested in the school are advised to apply early.
