Colleges Where I Was Accepted
Reason for choosing my college
- I really liked the support that the staff provided during the whole process of applying and getting enrolled. I was interested in being in bigger cities because of the accessibility it provides to part-time jobs.
Colleges Where I Was Rejected
Reason for Rejection
- My profile was not a good fit to theses universities. They needed more ECTS credits than what I had in particular courses, and the lack of these credits was the main reason cited by the admission committees.

Tips to enhance your application
- Write clearly your motivation to study at the university and the specific course. Mention your goals after you finish the course and how you plan to use it to advance your career. If possible, show what you have already done that links to the course you are applying to.
Admission Experience
- My main attraction towards Germany was the lower tuition fees as compared to other countries like the US, Canada, and Australia. Uni Hohenheim is very well-known for its agricultural and environmental-related courses and is a very well-reputed university. The location is also very favorable for getting part-time jobs, which is a great help for students who want to support themselves financially during their studies.
Class Schedule
8
- The classes and hours depend upon the number of modules you choose for a certain semester. The recommended credits are 30 ECTS each semester, and with this, you would have classes 3/4 days a week.
- Each class has between 20 and 40 students. In my year, there were only 3 Indians in a class of 30, but it has increased over the years.
Faculty
10
- The professors and faculty are very welcoming, friendly, and supportive. You can approach them with any questions or concerns, and they are always ready to help.
- If you attend classes regularly and form a good rapport with them, you can also get research assistant and teaching assistant part-time jobs through them. These jobs are usually very competitive and, therefore, require being in class and showing genuine interest.
Campus Life
10
- The university has a lot of student clubs that can be signed up for. This is not only a good way of socializing and making new friends, but also important for improving your overall experience of living in a new country.
- There is a very beautiful library inside a castle in the university. The sports club also offers many different sports that can be registered for at the beginning of each semester.
Part Time Jobs
- Most Indian students work in warehouses, delivery, and on-campus jobs. It is not very difficult to find part-time jobs as Stuttgart is a big city and there are quite a lot of opportunities. The hourly wage is between 13 and 15 euros, and this is usually enough to support living in the area with an 80 hr monthly contract.
- Students are allowed to work 20 hrs per week, total on and off campus. Typically, part-time jobs pay between 13 and 14 euros per hour.
- On-campus jobs are more competitive as they are more flexible. Other types of jobs around include delivery jobs, jobs in bakeries, cafes, and restaurants, as well as in warehouses and malls.
Placement
6
- There are no placement drives as such. Students have to look for jobs themselves. But the university offers a lot of guidance and support like interview prep and CV checks, etc.
- Students usually look at job platforms like LinkedIn, Xing, etc., about 6 months before they plan to graduate. The job situation is heavily dependent on the job market and is currently a bit difficult to find jobs, especially without German language skills.
