Course Curriculum

4

  • The course was mainly just theoretical; we had little to no practical learning given to us throughout the course. The good part about the course was that the content that was supposed to be taught was rich with information and interesting subjects. However, the downside was that not all professors could deliver the content with ease. So you are left highly dependent on your own ability to learn.
  • We had a fairly small batch with about 35 students since BSBI was fairly new back then. The class was about 80% Indians. We had two classes in a week throughout the course except for one module in between, where we had four classes in a week.

Admission Experience

  • I only applied to UE and BSBI and got accepted in both. I believe it was mainly due to my grades and my extracurricular activities that made it easier for me to receive offers from both. I ended up choosing BSBI because of the scholarship that they offered me. If there was a case of rejection, I would've assumed it was due to me not being able to meet certain requirements.
  • BSBI seemed like a place that offered more than a study experience, which is exactly what I was looking for at the time.
  • The admissions process was fairly simple; I filled out the admissions form, a program advisor got in touch with me and we finished the application together.
  • They required my high school diplomas, IELTS and other basic requirements—nothing too hard.
  • My process went by fairly smoothly. I can't say I have complaints.
  • February 2022 was the intake I enrolled for. I started my application around October 2021 and got the admission secured within two months. I moved to Germany in March 2022. I couldn't find a house in Berlin back then so I lived with a friend. I finally arrived in Berlin on the 6th of May. I don't remember any other specific dates from the timeline of my admission process.

Faculty

6

  • We have a decent faculty now. The doubts aren't left unresolved. Most of the academic faculty is very friendly and is usually available for queries and doubts. You can also reach out to them on Canvas itself (the student platform), which was very convenient. The professors has different styles of teaching but then again, that also depends on the module being taught.
  • They did not help us in job searches in any way but BSBI has a career's department to assist with that.
  • I especially admired my professor from cross-cultural management. Her classes were always engaging and I made sure not to miss even a single lecture from her.

Campus Life

6

  • BSBI has multiple campuses. There's one in Berlin, Hamburg, Paris and Barcelona. I was enrolled in the Berlin campus. There aren't many facilities as such but we did have an e-book library and now we have clubs that play different sports.
  • Campus celebrations are big by the student council. We celebrate multicultural day, halloween, Diwali, Christmas and many more. The student council is very active and there are representatives in every class for the students.

Part Time Jobs

  • The position of Student Council President is a part-time job in BSBI. Apart from that, they also hire part-time help in the operations team, which students can apply for. All opportunities are posted on the job board by BSBI itself. I'm not sure about the wages that they offer but I believe it is under 13 euros per hour.
  • You are allowed to work up to 20 hours a week. It is fairly difficult to land a job on campus itself.
  • I would say it is fairly difficult to land a job in Berlin. I'm not even sure about the process since I have not worked here. The usual process is the same as in any other country. You find a listing online, you fill out their application and if your profile matches what they are looking for, they get in touch with you via mail or phone.

Placement

2

  • I haven't finished my course yet and once I do, I plan on pursuing a masters because I personally feel that the prospects for fresh bachelor graduates with no experience are fairly little.
  • I can't speak for the salary either since none of my batchmates have started working full time yet.
  • No idea about the placements either. But placement as a concept does not exist here. You are responsible for your own job search.

Accommodation

Off Campus
4

  • There aren't any on-campus stay options. They have an accommodation team that can help with the house hunt or at least give you suitable resources to start with. For my first year, I lived 1 hour away from the college in a 10-person shared apartment. I was living in a 2-bedroom apartment, and my rent was 450 euros per month.
  • I found that house from housing anywhere. It wasn't a great house, to be honest but it was the only option I had. It's near impossible to find a house in Berlin so it's best to be prepared as early on as possible.

Exams

  • I appeared for IELTS before I sent in my application. The college requirement was 6 bands with at least 5.5 in each segment. I had an overall score of 8 bands.
  • I also handed in a statement of purpose, a letter of motivation, as well as a detailed CV.
  • There wasn't any kind of interview throughout the application process but I believe that they have started holding interviews now.

Fees

  • The fee for my 3-year course was 27000 euros, which I decided to pay in 3-yearly installments. I received a scholarship from their end, reducing my fee by about 9000 euros. So then I had to make payments for the remaining amount over the duration of three years. My monthly expenses were about 1000 euros but they fluctuated over the years.
  • Rent switched between 450-600 and health insurance is now another 130; apart from that, there's groceries and travel, which come to be around 200-250 euros. Going out expenses depend on person to person.

Scholarship

  • I received a scholarship from BSBI's end for about 40% of the amount. It amounted to about 9000 euros. My classmates had different scholarships too. The highest was 50% to one of my closest friends. BSBI offers a bunch of scholarships to students depending on the grades you receive in your previous diplomas or degrees. The usual scholarships are about 10-20% but depending on your profile, you can aim for more. The scholarships depend on the courses too.
