What Students Say
Likes
- 1.freedom in selecting courses
- 2.Course content is available online in Video presentations which make it flexible and we can learn from anywhere.
- 3.Exams are application based oriented which tests our practical knowledge rather than byhearting.
Dislikes
- 1. Exams will be difficult to clear. They expect specific words and structure to be followed in answers.
- 2.Not allowed to do Internships outside Germany
- 3.Thesis should not be done outside college or outside Germany.
Course Curriculum
- The difficulty level will be higher only because it will be both theoretical and practical.
- Positive aspects can include advanced topics and negative can sometimes be difficult to understand as they don't teach from the basics since we are already Masters . If we don't have basic knowledge, it would be so tough to follow.
- In a day maximum 2 classes are scheduled and timings will be from 10 to 12 PM and 2PM to 5.30 PM
- The average number of students per class depends on the subject you chose. But on AVG, we can expect at least 50-70 students attending class.
- In my course, almost 15+ people enrolled.
Admission Experience
- I have applied to Deggendorf , FAU , Anhalt applied sciences , University of Kassel but all applications are rejected because i couldnt clear the entrance exam as my basics are not strong. I got admission letters only from TU Darmstadt and the University of Duisburg-Essen. I chose TU Darmstadt because at the University of Duisburg we need to finish the minimum A2 level of German as mandatory. And also, studying at TU is prestigious; it will be how we study at IIT's.
- Because this course is taught in English and there is a high possibility of research side, flexibility to learn anywhere, studying at TU is very prestigious and demand here.
- We will have an entrance test; once that is cleared, we will be eligible to apply for college and then we send all the required documents via post to the college address. Once they verify and decide to give admission, they will send you an email of rejection or approval.
- IELTS or TOFEL are accepted. IELTS min 6 is required and TOFEL min 88. Eligibility criteria should be a successful bachelor's degree in the relevant field, (APS, IELTS).
- The admissions experience is smooth and clear. If we are stuck anywhere or having doubts, they will arrange every Tuesday Zoom call to clear international upcoming student queries. It's open; anyone can join and get all their doubts cleared.
- My course is offered only in the winter semester. The admissions process took 1-2 months. Based on how fast you send all your documents to college with admission test results. A detailed timeline would be 2 months. This course allows you to take a career as a networking security engineer, IT security officer, cybersecurity, or data analyst, so that influenced me in taking this decision.
Faculty
- faculty is always less when compared to students. 1 faculty member will teach 100 students and he has 2 assistant professors who can also clear doubts even after class.
- The teaching methodology of faculty is using ppt and oral. The course content and teaching approach are still not sufficient to prepare for securing a job. Because companies expect German skills and some prior knowledge of the tools and technologies, which academics don't cover.
- I'm not sure of faculty members assisting students in finding part-time or full-time jobs through their personal networks or references; I haven't heard of this in my circle either. Everyone found jobs themselves.
- Mobile networking Faculty members i admire most because they always change subject according to the updated trends; they conduct labs and research, which helps us to gain practical knowledge, which is very useful .
Campus Life
- We have two campuses, one is Stadtmitte and one is Lichtweis. We have a library, sports facilities, medical services, legal advisory services, dance, and international student services.
- We have X-weeks, which happen at the beginning of every semester, and every month, at least 2 events they will conduct.
- They will take interested students on excursions within Germany and outside Germany as well. People can learn any dance, any art, music,
Part Time Jobs
- Maximum hours of work allowed per week: 20 hrs.
- It is difficult to secure on-campus part-time jobs.
- pay range for TA/RA/DA positions-14-15 EUR.
- Only a few people would get this opportunity, like an assistant (TA), research assistant (RA), or departmental assistant (DA). It would be around 10 of 50.
- Other on-campus jobs available for students are depends, which can be doing office work, administrative work,
- The usual hourly wages will be 13–14 EUR.
- Indians prefer working in college getting hiwi jobs or working student jobs. Getting technical part-time is difficult. Students will get min 12 euros per hour in their part-time jobs. The usual process will be searching for a job, applying for it by submitting an application and attaching a resume , and cover letter and then, if it's shortlisted, getting an interview. If technical jobs didn't come, then students preferred non-technical jobs.
Placement
- 50% of our graduating batch secures employment within 6 months of completing their course.
- Here everything depends only on your German skills. If you have it, then you can get a job. The average salary range that most students in my program can expect to earn upon graduation is 2500 EUR per month. Students usually find jobs after graduation via searching in LinkedIn, Stepstone, Xing, and any references, networking. No campus recruitment. Some of my friends are working at Deutsche Telekom, Bosch; their roles are cybersecurity engineer, and data analyst.
- Mostly Fraunhofer takes graduates from my program.
Accommodation
- ? I find accommodations through the WG-Gesucht app off campus. My monthly rent is 420 euro per month including internet bill and facilities like washing machine, dishwasher, internet, kitchen, bathrrom , bed are provided.
- Finding accommodation is not so easy. I couldn't get near college; I am staying 40 minutes away from college. Most problems would be common sharing and more people sharing the same kitchen and washroom.
- Yes, I recommend joining WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook groups for accommodation and using online apps like WG-Gesucht and Kleinanzeigen for searching and to apply for student dorms.
- Most Indians stay around colleges like Dieburg and Darmstadt.
Exams
- Only IELTS or TOEFL is accepted for getting admission. Documents like Two Letters of Recommendations, CV, Statement of Purpose/motivational letter, APS, entrance test result and all your study certificates from 10th to bachelors, passport, original transcripts, original degree, CMMI are mandatory.
- If you have work experience, then add your experience letter, office LOR and any certifications, which increase the chance of admission and there is no interview for the admission process.
Fees
- Fee breakdown depends on how many semesters you take to finish the course. But minimum is 4 semesters and maximum can be till 12 semesters. Fees charged semester-wise. Per sem, they charge around 340 euros. which includes only the tuition fee. and doesn't include a hostel or accommodation. So it depends how many semesters you take and how many 348 euros you pay for every semester.
- Basic Expenses Per Month: These are common for everyone.
- Rent would be around-420 420 min
- Health insurance, which is mandatory, -145euro
- Radio Bill mandatory-10 euro
- Mobile recharge: 15 euros
- Food-min :100
- bank account maintenance bill: 6 euros per month.
- Other activities depends on you for study materials-50
Scholarship
- I did not receive any scholarships. There are different types of scholarship that will be provided by outsiders. College doesn't provide any scholarships. One of my friends received the Deutschland stipendium, which is 300 euros per month. It will be provided for up to 2 years. Mostly, this was given based on the scores in Btech, and this is the only scholarship that Indians can get.
