What Students Say
Likes
- ESMT Berlin is a very reputed university in Germany often in the top 10 rankings. Most of the graduates find jobs within 3 months of graduation. The curriculum is also carefully designed depending on industry requirements since all the founders of the university are Large German corporations.
- The campus and diversity of student really adds to the experience. The quality of education is really good as compared to Indian universities. There is also lot of options for extracurricular activities during the program which also adds to the non academic experience.
Dislikes
- The course was designed for general management focus and there was no focus on advanced topics such as Machine learning, analytics etc. However, now they have changed the course and there is now a dedicated Masters in AI and Machine Learning which is a good improvement.
Required Exams for Admission
Overall it was a very good experience, the diversity at the university was also very good with around 37 nationalities represented. The courses were also fun and engaging. Post graduation career support is also a huge plus point.
Course Curriculum
The curriculum is regularly updated based on the requirements of industry. There is a mandatory internship included in the course which gives a practical hands on experience. There also a social impact project which is done in the final year of the program. This can be done with an NGO or a company.
Faculty
Faculty at ESMT is very good, most have PhDs in their domains. Professors are easily approachable and are very helpful towards the students. Some professors who were very impactful were Guillermo Baquero, Jan Nimcik and Michael Graeck.
Campus Life
The campus is located in the former headquarters of the East German Government. There are also a lot of student clubs such as investment club, entrepreneurship club, Women empowerment club etc. There is a library and research facility on the campus. Students also get access to Bloomberg terminals for investment analysis or personal use.
Placement
There is career fair organised at the university where many companies participate. A lot of students find internships and full time work opportunities there. Median salary is around 50000 EUR. On an average about 40% of the class has a job offer before graduation. I myself had 4 job offers before graduation.
Accommodation
There is no official accommodation for students, all the students live outside in the city.
Exams
My GMAT score 690 and IELTS 7.5. A minimum of 650 on GMAT and 6.5 on IELTS is needed with no section less than 6. There is no SOP but 3 small essays to be written which are under 150 words. For LOR it can either be a letter or an online form. CV with all relevant work and volunteer experience is to be included. After the CV screening round there will be a short interview with the admissions team on CV points. One interview only on the CV, so through back up stories for all CV points is needed to be successful.
Fees
25000 EUR
Scholarship
Yes, the early bird scholarship. The only criteria was to apply early to the program. I think this has been removed now.
