RWTH Business School non-EU master applications stay open until June 1, 2026 through the subsequent allocation route. The official non-EU deadline of March 1 has closed for Winter 2026/27. MBA applications close for everyone on August 31, 2026.

RWTH Business School is the management arm of RWTH Aachen University, Germany's leading technical university. Programs are paid, not tuition-free. Fees range from €30,000 to €45,000 (₹33.6 to ₹50.4 Lakhs). Every program carries a €50 application fee.

Indian applicants most commonly apply for the Full-Time MBA Digitalization & Industrial Change, the M.Sc Data Analytics & Decision Science, and the M.Sc Management & Engineering in TIME. All three require at least one year of professional work experience, which sets the school apart from typical German graduate admissions.

APS Certificate is mandatory for all Indian applicants. The school also runs a qualification phase before the full application opens, which screens fit before fees are paid.

RWTH Business School Application Deadlines

RWTH Business School application deadlines split by program type and applicant residency. MBA programs follow a single August 31 cutoff for every applicant. M.Sc programs use a March 1 non-EU deadline and August 31 for EU applicants. A subsequent allocation window closes June 1 for late non-EU files.

  • MBA programs: August 31, 2026 for EU and non-EU applicants.
  • M.Sc non-EU primary deadline: March 1, 2026 (Closed); subsequent route open until June 1, 2026.
  • M.Sc EU and EEA: August 31, 2026.

Indian M.Sc applicants who missed March 1 still have June 1, 2026 as the realistic cutoff. The subsequent allocation route depends on remaining seats, so the earlier the file lands after March 1, the better the odds. Visa processing at the German consulates in India takes 8 to 12 weeks, which leaves no slack for late August admission decisions.

Before you apply: Contact the Student Recruitment Team before submitting to the subsequent route. They confirm whether seats remain in your specific M.Sc track before you pay the €50 application fee.

RWTH Business School Acceptance Rate

RWTH Business School acceptance rate is not officially published by the school. Industry estimates place selectivity at 20 to 30 percent for the Full-Time MBA and 30 to 40 percent across the M.Sc programs. The school filters applicants twice: first through the qualification phase, then through the formal application review.

Program Selectivity Tier Class Size (approx.)
Full-Time MBA Digitalization & Industrial Change High 40 to 60 students
Executive MBA Technology Management Moderate to High 25 to 40 students
M.Sc Data Analytics & Decision Science Moderate 30 to 50 students
M.Sc Management & Engineering in TIME Moderate 40 to 60 students
M.Sc Sustainability Management Moderate 30 to 50 students

Indian applicants compete inside the international quota, which forms about 50 to 70 percent of every full-time intake. The Full-Time MBA cohort is intentionally international, with under 30 percent German students typically. The qualification phase weeds out around half of all enquiries before the application fee is even paid, which compresses the formal acceptance rate.

Reality check: The published 2 to 8 week decision window is the formal stage. Indian applicants typically wait at the longer end because APS verification and document translation add a separate review path.

RWTH Business School Eligibility for Indian Students

RWTH Business School eligibility for Indian students combines four hard gates: a recognized bachelor's degree, proven English proficiency, professional work experience, and the APS Certificate. The work experience minimum is the differentiator. No M.Sc or MBA program at RWTH Business School admits direct-from-college applicants.

Requirement Minimum Standard for Indian Applicants
Bachelor's degree Recognized 4-year BE, BTech, BBA, or BSc with strong final-year grades
Academic average Generally 65% or CGPA 6.5 out of 10; first class preferred
Work experience (M.Sc full-time) 1 year minimum, relevant to the program
Work experience (Full-Time MBA) 2 to 5 years of management or technical track
Work experience (EMBA) 5+ years with leadership exposure
IELTS 6.0 minimum, with no band waiver published
TOEFL iBT 90 minimum
PTE Academic 60 minimum
APS Certificate Mandatory for every Indian applicant
Application fee €50 (₹5,600), deducted on admission

Indian applicants with a UK, US, Canadian, Australian, or New Zealand degree are exempt from the English test requirement. Reference letters are mandatory for the Full-Time MBA, Executive MBA, and the part-time M.Sc Management & Engineering. M.Sc full-time applicants can upload an existing academic or professional reference.

Note: Pre-qualification is required before the formal application opens for Sustainability Management, Data Analytics, Management & Engineering full-time, and the Full-Time MBA. The part-time M.Sc MME and Executive MBA skip pre-qualification.

MBA Programs and Fees

RWTH Business School runs two MBA tracks: one full-time, one executive part-time. Both carry the technology focus of RWTH Aachen, with leadership courses bundled into engineering and digitalisation modules. The Full-Time MBA runs in English; the Executive MBA runs in German.

MBA and Executive MBA

Programme Duration Language Total Fee Work Experience Deadline
Full-Time MBA Digitalization & Industrial Change 3 semesters English €35,000
(₹39.2 Lakhs)
2 to 5 years August 31, 2026
Executive MBA Technology Management 4 semesters (part-time) German €45,000
(₹50.4 Lakhs)
5+ years August 31, 2026

The Full-Time MBA is the standard pick for Indian engineering and tech-track applicants moving into management. It runs three semesters across 18 months and covers digital transformation, supply chain digitisation, and data-driven leadership. The Executive MBA needs German B2 proficiency and is rarely viable for Indian applicants without prior Germany experience.

Tips: The MBA Excellence Scholarship at RWTH Business School is worth €6,000. It is awarded within the same application form, so do not skip the scholarship section even if you are unsure about asking.

MSc Programs and Fees

RWTH Business School runs four M.Sc tracks. Three are full-time on-campus programs taught in English. One runs part-time with online and on-campus options. Every M.Sc carries the same €30,000 (₹33.6 Lakhs) total tuition, divided across semesters.

M.Sc Programs

Programme Duration Total Fee IELTS Min. Work Experience Deadline (Non-EU)
M.Sc Data Analytics & Decision Science 4 semesters €30,000
(₹33.6 Lakhs)
6.0 1 year June 1, 2026
M.Sc Management & Engineering in TIME (Full-time) 3 semesters €30,000
(₹33.6 Lakhs)
6.0 1 year June 1, 2026
M.Sc Sustainability Management: Technology, Analytics & Transformation 3 semesters €30,000
(₹33.6 Lakhs)
6.0 1 year June 1, 2026
M.Sc Management & Engineering in TIME (Part-time) 3 to 6 semesters €30,000
(₹33.6 Lakhs)
6.0 1 to 3 years August 31, 2026

The Data Analytics & Decision Science master is the strongest pull for Indian BTech graduates. It pairs statistics, machine learning, and decision theory with management application. Indian alumni of this program have placed at consulting and analytics roles across Frankfurt, Munich, and Berlin within three months of graduation.

Key insights: The part-time MME TIME is the only program that admits without pre-qualification. Indian applicants already working in Germany on a Blue Card pick this route to bridge into management without quitting the job.

RWTH Business School Application Process

The RWTH Business School application process runs entirely on the my.rwthbusinessschool.de portal. Indian applicants for M.Sc full-time and the Full-Time MBA pass through a qualification phase first. Once qualified, they receive the link to the full application. Decisions arrive between 2 and 8 weeks after submission.

  1. Create an account on my.rwthbusinessschool.de when ready to apply.
  2. Complete the qualification form for your program (required for full-time M.Sc and MBA).
  3. Receive the qualification result and the link to the full application.
  4. Upload CV, motivation letter, degree certificate, transcript, and APS Certificate.
  5. Upload proof of professional work experience covering at least one year.
  6. Provide IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE, or a Cambridge English certificate.
  7. Submit one academic or professional reference letter through the form.
  8. Record and upload the short personal video, following the in-portal prompt.
  9. Pay the €50 application fee and submit the file.
  10. Wait 2 to 8 weeks for the academic committee decision.

The pre-qualification step is where most Indian applicants exit the funnel. Filling it casually wastes the slot. Program staff use the form to flag fit gaps before you pay the fee. Treat every prompt as a real assessment, not a screener.

Before you apply: The Early Bird discount cannot be combined with any scholarship at RWTH Business School. If the school's Excellence Scholarship is the realistic funding path, skip the Early Bird timing pressure and apply for the scholarship instead.

Documents Required for Indian Applicants

Documents required for RWTH Business School by Indian applicants must be ready in English or German. Any document in another language needs a certified translation. The school accepts digital uploads through the application portal, so notarised hard copies are not requested at the application stage.

  • Updated CV in European or one-page summary format.
  • Motivation letter, typically one to two pages.
  • Bachelor's degree certificate, attested.
  • Bachelor's transcript of records, attested.
  • Proof of at least one year of professional work experience.
  • APS Certificate, original digital copy.
  • IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE, or Cambridge English certificate.
  • One academic or professional reference letter.
  • Passport bio page copy.
  • Short personal video, recorded inside the portal.

Indian academic transcripts must include the CGPA conversion key from the home university. Without the key, the RWTH Business School admissions team applies a conservative conversion that often understates the actual grade. Work experience proof should be a signed and dated letter on company letterhead.

Note: Indian applicants with Master Online Indian Programmes or correspondence degrees often need an extra APS notation confirming the equivalence. Check this before paying the application fee.

APS Certificate and German Student Visa

The APS Certificate (Akademische Prüfstelle, the German Embassy credential check) is mandatory for every Indian applicant to RWTH Business School. Without a valid APS, the application file cannot move past document review. The process is fully digital from 2026 and costs INR 18,000.

Item Cost Timeline
APS Certificate fee INR 18,000 3 to 4 weeks normal, up to 3 months peak
RWTH Business School application fee €50 (₹5,600) Pay inside portal
German National Visa fee €75 (₹8,400) Pay at appointment
Blocked account deposit €11,904 (₹13.33 Lakhs) 1 to 6 weeks to set up
Monthly withdrawal cap €992 (₹1,11,104) Post-arrival

Aachen sits in North Rhine-Westphalia, and the city hall handles residence permits directly once you are in Germany. Indian admits should book the German consulate appointment in Delhi, Mumbai, or Chennai immediately on receiving the admission letter. The visa file requires the RWTH admission letter, APS Certificate, blocked account confirmation, and health insurance proof.

2026 update: APS India's 70% Class 12 rule introduced in March 2026 applies only to undergraduate visas. Master's applicants are not affected, but the digital queue is longer because more first-year cases now flow through the same system.

Admission Tips for Indian Applicants

The following tips are derived from Indian-applicant patterns at RWTH Business School. They cover practical document and timing actions, not promotional advice. Each item maps to a real exit point in past application cycles.

  • Submit a polished qualification form, not a draft, even though it feels informal.
  • Quantify your work experience: outputs, scope, team size, technologies used.
  • Pair the motivation letter to one specific program track, not the school.
  • Upload the APS Certificate before paying the application fee.
  • Apply for the Excellence Scholarship inside the same form.
  • Skip the Early Bird discount if you plan to apply for a scholarship.
  • Record the personal video in one take, with a clean background.

Key insights: RWTH Business School counts applied-research projects from the bachelor's as work experience for the M.Sc tracks. A 6-month industrial thesis at L&T, Tata Motors, or a startup qualifies.

Application Checklist

The following steps cover what Indian applicants typically complete in the 6 to 10 months before applying to RWTH Business School. These items are evergreen and apply to any intake cycle, not only Winter 2026/27.

  1. Register on the APS India portal and book the digital interview.
  2. Sit IELTS, TOEFL iBT, or PTE at least 4 months before the deadline.
  3. Collect the consolidated bachelor's transcript with CGPA conversion key.
  4. Draft the motivation letter for one specific RWTH Business School program.
  5. Request the academic or professional reference letter early.
  6. Open the qualification form on my.rwthbusinessschool.de when ready.
  7. Plan blocked account funding before the offer arrives.

The next live deadline for Winter 2026/27 M.Sc applications via the subsequent allocation route is June 1, 2026.

RWTH Business School operates more like an international business school than a German public university. Fees are high, selectivity is real, and work experience is non-negotiable. The advantage for Indian applicants is the technology focus inherited from RWTH Aachen, which positions graduates inside Germany's industrial sector rather than general consulting. Treat the June 1 subsequent allocation route as the real M.Sc cutoff and target the August 31 deadline only for MBA and EU files.
