Comparison Notes
  • Tepper MBA is a STEM-designated program, which is definitely telling of its quality. International students have the added benefit of getting an F-1 visa through Optional Practical Training (OPT), enabling them to work full-time for up to 36 months in the United States.
  • The employment percentages of the last graduating batch is not much different in both colleges, with Tepper at 91% and Stern School of Business at 94%.
  • The salary increase of graduates is also not much different in both cases. In this case, Tepper is slightly better at 126% to Stern’s 122%, but Stern is said to have a lot more value for money than Tepper in the long run.
  • Tepper is popular for its Global Treks, where MBA students travel to different parts of the world to learn first-hand about international business practices. There is also the opportunity to do a four-week Global Study Capstone Course in either Germany or Hong Kong.
  • Tepper witnessed a majority of graduates enter careers in consulting and technology, whereas graduates from Stern favored financial services.
  • Out of all the students enrolled, Tepper has only 25% of female students while Stern has 43%.

Stern and Tepper are both located in cities where there are a lot of business opportunities, and both colleges had graduates placed in top companies like Amazon and Google. Even so, Stern has better recognition globally, especially in Asia, and an MBA there is overall a better investment than at Tepper.
