Both Yale and Princeton are Ivy League universities and are ranked among the global top 30 universities. Yale ranks 21st, and Princeton ranks 25th in the 2025 QS World University Rankings. In the THE 2025 rankings, Princeton ranks 4th, and Yale at 10th. Both schools are internationally renowned for their strength in humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, Princeton particularly for mathematics and physics, and Yale for law, political science, and the arts.

Princeton University is situated in Princeton, New Jersey, with a suburban, tight-knit campus life. It has approximately 8,800 students, one of the smaller Ivy League schools. Yale University, located in New Haven, Connecticut, is slightly larger with approximately 14,500 students.
