- Master of Arts in Music at the University of Saskatchewan is offered as a 2-year teaching program.
- This master's program has a co-op work option. In order to be eligible to participate in a full-time Co-op Work Term, students must meet the GPA requirements.
- The student to faculty ratio is 16:1 which bridges the gap between faculty and students.
- Some of the main courses that students will study in this program are:
- Experiencing Music
- Music Theory for Vernacular Music
- Music & Protest
- Students learn about music career options, develop a career network, and gain valuable work experience through courses such as Understanding the Music Industry, and Arts Entrepreneurship, as well as Archival Internship and work placements.
- Music offerings focus on three broad areas: Atlantic Canadian cultures and traditions; popular music; and the study of global traditions (e.g., West African, Eastern European, etc.) through ethnomusicology and folklore approaches.
- The Department of Music offers programs in composition, music theory, and performance leading to the Master of Music (M.Mus.) and in musicology leading to the Master of Arts (M.A.) degrees.
- The Master of Music in Performance includes specializations in piano, voice, trumpet, saxophone, or conducting/music education (choral or wind emphasis).
