- Microbiology (MSc) is a research-based program, designed to enhance awareness of current research in different fields of microbiology and to develop the ability to communicate experimental results.
- The department offers Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy programs of study. MSc in Microbiology is a 2 years on-campus program, offered on a full-time basis.
- The Department of Medical Microbiology offers programs of studies leading to the MSc and PhD degrees with research and academic experience suitable for a career in Basic Microbiology or Infectious Diseases.
- The MSc thesis-based program consists of a combination of coursework and a research component.

Explore the research in the regulation of resistance, detection of antimicrobial resistance genes in wastewater and water in Indigenous communities, exploration of novel drug targets and structural understanding of drug targets.

Research in structural biology and biochemistry allows us to understand viral regulation of host genes; explore proteins involved in disease, microbial metabolism and communication, and function of cellular biomolecular complexes; and use structural information for bioengineering.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must hold a BSc (Honours), four-year B.Sc. (Major), or equivalent degree from a recognized university.
- Students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or equivalent in the last two full years of study are required.
- Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL and PTE to get admission to this program.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Completed a 4-year UG degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
- Or, completed graduation in B.Sc.(H) Computer Science or B.Sc. Applied Physical Sciences with Mathematics and Computer Science.
- Or, completed a B.Sc (General) degree from a recognized institution.
