- The REM Planning Program (REPP) is the only planning program in Canada that specializes in interdisciplinary training in policy, natural science, and social science applied to natural resource and environmental planning. REPP is a professional planning program accredited by the Planning Standards Board for the Planning Profession of Canada and the Planning Institute of British Columbia. Students graduating from the Resource and Environmental Planning Program receive the degree of Master’s of Resource Management (Planning).
- Students take an integrated sequence of courses in complementary fields, pursue further courses in planning, and complete a research project. The aim is to increase familiarity and competence in understanding the dynamics of natural resources, the strategies and techniques of natural resource and environmental planning and management, and the biological, physical, social, economic, and institutional implications of resource decisions. Students also become familiar with various quantitative methods of analysis and aids to decision-making.
- The program is accredited by the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Planning Institute of British Columbia. An MRM (Planning) graduate is eligible for candidate membership to become a certified professional planner and may enjoy improved employment prospects, conference and workshop participation, and access to professional development programs.
- Students are expected to complete the program in six terms.
Scores Required
Submission of GRE scores is not compulsory for this program, however, it is recommended to submit the scores (minimum 300) for better a chance of admission.
Required Document List
Following are the required documents:
- CV/Resume: Outline of academic achievements and/or awards, publications, relevant work, and/or volunteer experience.
- Online application form: Students have to submit an online application form at the official website.
- All post-secondary transcripts: Students have to submit all official documents containing student’s grades. Thus, post-secondary transcripts refer to undergraduate, graduate, medical school, law school, or other higher education transcripts.
- Three academic or professional references: Referees (Teachers, guidance counselors, or Professors) should comment on academics and that references should submit along with the application system.
- Statement of Intent: Reasons or intentions for pursuing studies in this program, including a description of prior experience.
- Electronic Official transcripts: Submit copies of official transcripts from post-secondary institutions attended in PDF format.
- Personal Statement: It should include a brief overview of themselves, strengths, and any work experience and/or education that students have.
- A Credential evaluation report from WES Canada or ICES: If students have credentials from an institution outside of Canada or the United States, they must submit a credential evaluation report from WES Canada (course-by-course report) or ICES (comprehensive report).
- Statement of research interests: Student has to fill their interesting research work area in the application form.
- ELP Scores: Students have to submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores.
