- BSc in Geography at the University of Victoria is offered as a 4-years program by the Department of Geography.
- The University of Victoria also ranked 2nd in Maclean’s top Canadian Comprehensive Universities 2019.
- Geography is an integrative, environmental discipline with one foot in the physical sciences and the other in the social sciences, while also drawing on relevant material from the humanities.
- Geography bridges the gaps between the natural sciences and the study of humanity. It integrates diverse fields such as economics, ecology, political studies, urban design, resource management, human health, and climatology.
- Students will study the interactions between people and the environment and examine the spatial nature of these relationships.
- Students will seek solutions to climate change, global migration, and sustainability.
- Students will get involved in community activities and mapping projects, and travel with our field schools.
- The BSc program consists of a minimum of 60 units.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
Applicants must hold Twelve years of academic preparation and one of the following:
- Indian School Certificate (CISCE) or All India Senior School Certificate (CBSE) awarded after Standard XII with 75% (conditional offer with 80% on Grade 10 results)
- Year 12 State Board Exams: Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC); applicants with excellent academic results will be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Students must have a GPA of 5.0 on a scale of 9.0.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Higher Secondary School Certificate with reputed institute with min 75%
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.

- Two Letter of Recommendation: Letter of recommendation (combination of professional and academic recommenders) which includes information about the student, their connection with the person they are recommending, their qualification, and the specific skills they have.
- Statement of Purpose: This statement must describe your qualifications and the objectives of your intended educational program.
- Statement of Intent: Reasons or intentions for pursuing studies in this program, including a description of prior experience.
- Official Transcripts: Applicants who have attended and/or received degrees from institutions outside the US must provide certified copies and certified English translations of transcripts or records of all previous post-secondary education and of all degrees conferred.
- ELP Scores: Students have to submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores.
