- My course was very very basic. They were teaching me same things which I knew already.
Course Curriculum

- My course was a mix of both practical and theory but the difficulty level was not that high. The whole course like all four semesters were very basic and I already knew many of the things. I only liked the third semester as it had some new things and technologies to learn.
- Overall a very basic course not at all meeting the masters level. Positive aspect was the flexible exams and the negative aspect was not having any coop program. Mine was the masters program and there were not many classes as per I remember I only attended 2 classes a week in my last semester. There were so many students and the average was 120.
- Most of them were Indian, I would say 80 % of the class was Indian.
Admission Experience
- From all the universities I applied for Trent was the one which had a program of 16 months which is considered as two year program in Canada. Trent is one of the well know universities in Ontario, Canada.
- The admission process is pretty much same as other college and universities. First you will have to check the criteria of the university, at my time trent just needed a good IELTS score. So applicant have to give necessary exam and get the minimum required score.
- After getting the score you will have to go to the universities site and apply from there. If you are accepted you will get confirmation through maill and you will have to begin for paying fees.
- Fees can be paid from Universities portal which you can login through the credentials you will make while the time of creating account. Trent university also needed my unofficial transcripts from bachelor program. Transcripts should be mailed from universities address (bachelor's university, in my case SPPU) to the trent university address.
- Trent accepts IELTS score and for my program the criteria was minimum of 6 bands in each module and the average should be 6.5
- I did whole process through IDP. Basically through an agent and IDP makes it free of cost for you. So it was pretty much smooth experience. Other than that if some is doing all by their own, they can face problem in paying fees because I found it a bit confusing when my agent was telling me things.
- I applied in the September intake. In total there are three intakes in Canadian colleges and universities and September is one of the largest intake.
- I completed my bachelors in the year 2023 in the month of April and the same year I wanted to come in Canada so I took decision to come in the intake of September.
- In the month of December 2022 I applied for Trent university as the deadline for the application was around the month of January.
- After the application was made I had to wait for several months in order to get the response from university. After that I had to pay fees and send my documents to the university.
- I applied to four colleges / universities.-1. Waterloo University - Rejected 2. Trent University - Admitted 3. Saint marry university - Shortlisted 4. Carleton University - Rejected
- I received a confirmation of admission from Trent University. I was shortlisted for Saint Marry's university but I did not continue that application.
- Waterloo and Carleton from where I got rejection are some of the top universities, so there criteria was high.
Faculty

- Faculty to student ratio in my course was very bad. As I mentioned earlier there were atleast 110 to 120 students in my class and teachers were 4 and it is so bad.
- You can not even ask questions when you want to ask. Teaching methods were ok ok just like Indian teachers.
- They used to teach theory and some practical. I don't think so the course content and teaching approach was sufficient to prepare me for job market.
- No they do not, but trent has one community which is carrerspace and they give me service to find job though it is for bachelors not masters. Big data analyst faculty was good and admiring.
Campus Life

- My college has two campuses in total and they are far from each other, The mail campus is big enough to have every thing such as gym, ground library and caffe in it.
- There are many fastivals in trent university such as gathering for new students and they also do the campus tour in that.
- One of the most fameous event is Trent World Festival. Trent is good for extracurricular activities like sports they also play cricket tournaments and football matches.
Part Time Jobs
- There are some part time places in campus and off campus but very less on campus for teaching assistant or department assistant. Pay rate is the minimum wage for all these positions.
- As I mentioned earlier there are many things to do in Trent and there are many on campus jobs as in any canteen and gym or for cleaning and etc. When you do on campus jobs you can do any number of hours and they do not count it in your maximum hours you can do when you are a student.
- As a matter of fact you can do around 20 to 30 hours per week as per the need. It is very difficult as there are very less position you have to be really talented to secure one.
- currently the min wage is 17.60 and it is very difficult to get a part time job here in canada. Just go in the store and give me the resume which is more effective as compared to going to site and applying job from there.
- You have to be consistent while applying jobs and if needed go to one place again and again and then they will notice you and consider your resume.
Placement

- Particularly my course is a good course and it should have demand in the market but the thing is opposite. After completing masters as well there are not many job opportunities and employers are expecting more and more from every candidate.
- I don't think so not more than 10 out of the whole batch of 110 got jobs.
- If you get any job the average salary is around 75000 dollars. Most common method is to go to linkedIn and search from there , update the resume as per the posting and apply on the site or on the linkedIn. TD is one of the major employer in canada.
Accommodation
Off Campus

- I found the accommodation through facebook marketplace. There are many groups and from them you can meet new people and they will help you.
- In my case I meet one friend online and we helped each other to find the house and we were roommates for one year after that in canada.
- In the begining I used to live in sharing room and used to pay around 400 dollars a month and now I have a private room and I pay around 550.
- It was very hard to get a room as rooms were not available. We had to contact every landlord and keep ourselves awake in order to see room on video call on canadas time when we were in India. My accommodation is around 4 km far from college and it takes around 10 mins in the bus.
Exams
- I just gave IELTS because it is one of the most important exams to be able to apply in any Canadian university.
- There are several docs to complete the admission process some of those are, IELTS score, Passport, LOR, Resume, SOP, marksheets, family documents. Bank details. These are just the documents which are necessary for admission.
- Other than that for the whole process of coming here there are many more such as, Loan documents if you are taking one. Updated Indian documents, Account statements etc.
Fees
- I had 4 semesters in total and I had to pay the total amount of 30,800 dollars from India for my first three semesters before joining the university.
- Last semester's fees was a bit more it was around 11,000 dollars. So in total in INR I paid around 26 lakhs just tuition fees.
- As Peterborough is a small town I do not have to pay more. I pay around 600 dollars for rent 20 dollars for wifi and around 100 dollars in groceries. Transportation was included in fees but as I completed my degree I pay around 30 dollars for bus pass every month now.
Scholarship
- My course was a masters course and I did not get any scholarship. And I dont think so any one got.
- My course does not offer any amount in scholarships. Every one has to pay full amount as mentioned above. I am not sure but I think some bachelor programs might have the thing of scholarships.
- Generally universities do not give scholarships here in Canada.
