What Students Say
Likes
- I was looking for a 2 year Data Analytics program from a good college as most universities had only 1 year program and very expensive. Langara is a reputable college in Vancouver and has one of the most affordable fees.
- The faculty of the college are very good and helpful. There are lot of volunteer options to take part in the college. For new international students there is a counselling department to help them with home sick and cope up with the new learning style. The fee is quite affordable when compared with other colleges.
Dislikes
- There should have been an in-campus accommodation considering the amount of international students in the college, college provides options for PG but it’s quite expensive and the seats fill out quite fast.
Required Exams for Admission
To be honest it’s difficult to come to a new country and settle in but still I find the college to be very welcoming to international students they are always there if you need any help personally or academically.
Course Curriculum
The course has a syllabus according due the industry standards most of the instructors are actually full time employees in MNC’s and teaching is just their part time job, so you get good exposure on what to expect in Canada workplace after you graduate. There are openings in college as student researcher to help the professors in research program but the competition to get the job is quite high.
Faculty
The faculty at Langara is just great, they are kind and helpful. Always approachable and they have specific office hours just for students so that you can go meet them in person in case of any concerns. The students per class are not high especially in Data Analytics our class strength is 27 which is like the highest is past few years.
Campus Life
There are always some or the other events happening at the campus and lots of clubs right from sports club, religious clubs and environmental clubs too. Langara has lot of diversity so every country has their own club and their religious festivals are also celebrated inside campus which helps you know the diversity of every culture. Wifi is available throughout the campus, Library is huge with 3 floors and there are specific spots where its very silent and if you’re a person who likes to study in a silent place that's the place for you.
Placement
It totally depends on the year of experience and certification you possess right now there is lot of competition so you need to be the best you grab the opportunity.
Accommodation
Vancouver is a expensive place and not having a in-campus accommodation is deference a let down as the private rooms can get as high as 1200 CAD, if you’re planning to stay in Vancouver be prepared for high rentals, sharing may go upto 700-750 CAD, but there are cheaper options abit away from city like Delta and Surrey where you can find rooms a couple of bucks cheaper.
Exams
The college just requires IELTS score of min 6.5, relevant bachelor’s degree or experience in the field. I had contacted the program coordinator before submitting my application and he suggested to submit a SOP for better chances of getting an admit. There was no interview.
Fees
Per credit the tuition fee is around 620 CAD, it will cost you around 30000 dollars for 4 semesters.
Scholarship
Langara doesn’t provide any scholarships.
