Many topics of research are available to students. The Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental, Nuclear, and Chemical and Materials Science or Engineering, will be awarded to candidates who successfully complete a programme of studies normally comprised of at least eight Lecture courses at the graduate level plus a thesis. The Department's graduate research programme is closely affiliated with and supported by numerous DND agencies and directorates. Many thesis topics are offered as a result of this collaboration and are arranged between the sponsor and the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.
